Henry J's Taco House, Des Moines IA

Im honestly very partial to this place, they are completely local down to the employees. Everything from the tacos to the fideo are always delicious!

I grew up in the Southside and went to Lincoln High School, so I was definitely familiar with Henry J's. Absolutely delicious Mexican/tex-Mex fare that you will NOT be sorry you ordered. Food is top notch and not too expensive. A word of advice however, if you load up on the hot sauce and chips for sure have a large child drink ready along with extra sour cream. You'll need it.

One of the best taco shells in town! But there's no difference between the beef & bean taco or the bean taco! Wish they would actually put some meat in that taco! Never seems like there's any meat in the taco. Just beans! If they would offer a beef only Taco I would go there more! Just saying!

Holy moly, best tacos ill ever have. No joke. The shells are crispy and chewy at the same time. Fresh made every time. It might look like a run down place, but the food is amazing.

Great food. Been eating here since the 70's. The service gets worse every time i visit. I'm giving them "5" stars because the tacos are worth any shade i encounter.

Ummmm I drive from Indianola to get food from here. The last time i got the food was amazing. This time the food tasted cheaper, older, and just not good. It sucks because the service is great, but our food today was lower than one star: (

I used to love Henry j’s however over time this establishment had grown more unprofessional. As a customer I’m rarely greated. The workers look like they rather be anywhere else and are often found sitting in the lobby. When I get my food most of the time it’s thrown together and half cold. I’ve even seen a employee walk in just to make himself food and leave when they had many customers waiting and when a customer asked about he’s order he said “oh I don’t know I’m not working right now and laughed” and left. Don’t recommend take your money elsewhere.

Terrible not edible,: (This place use to be good never thought I would see the day it went downhill spent 48+ dollars to feed my Family tonight and was unable to eat it. Taste like when you burn a pan or a really dirty deep fryer, I use to love the hot sauce and I could not believe that even that was contaminated, if I knew if was going to be this bad I would have requested a refund had to throw the food away, if you do order smell the hot sauce if it smells like a old band-aid do not eat it

Love Henry J's! Great shells & Salsa! Friendly service. The tacos never disappoint!
