Hobby Haven, Urbandale IA

A true hobby shop. Old and new school. I travel cross country a lot and try to hit up as many hobby/gaming shops as I can. Hobby Haven is one of the top for hobbies. Big store with plenty to discover. They have a great RC race track. Complete selections for just about anything you're looking for and it's quality stuff. Hope I get back the someday soon.

You walk in and are hardly greeted, They really don't want to help you unless you buy a new Rc. They call themselves a hobby shop but know very little about a whole half of the Rc hobby. (nitro rcs)

This place is great. So many models to choose from. If they dont have what you're looking for they are more than happy to order it for you if they can find it. Very helpful and friendly staff, always willing to answer any questions you might have. Can be little pricey, but hey, you get what you pay for right? And it's a local business so I have no problem paying a few extra $ to support them. Also they have trains in about every scale you can imagine, slot car sets and track, all kinds of remote control cars, planes and helicopters, drones and they even have consignment stuff. Highly recommend stopping here if your into anybody the above mentioned hobbies. The entire store is like Hobby Lobby's model aisle times about 10,000 and on steroids. Oh did I mention they have a track for RC racing.and puzzles?

2023 Edit: Went today to buy a 3D RC Helicopter.never having flown one and buying g what I was going to buy would've been a disaster for me. The owner of the store took the time to explain to me why this is the case and proceeded to sell me about $300 less stuff so that I would have a good experience as I learn to fly heli. That's damn good customer service right there!

This was the ultimate Hobby Shop.
It was a bit hard to take in, seeing how it's changed since Rick sold. The atmosphere was not friendly, prices way up, especially glow fuel and glue. No clear separation of planes/ cars, trucks. In fact one 4 way is 3/4 cars, 1/4 planes. Consignment items not clearly marked. It was a Friday late afternoon, and parking lot was bare.

Need model paint an a leather kit for pocket knife asked associates where each item was located found them checked out

We came looking for information on how to repair an old ho train engine with a loose wire. Man these guys were great. They soldered the wire for us and were so friendly. These guys know there stuff. We ended up buying another engine.

They have about anything you could ever want or need here for any kind of hobby. I easily could spend a half a day here just browsing everything they have. If you are into any kind of models and haven't been here you are missing out

Great knowledge! These guys are dedicated to the rc world 100%. You can tell they have been doing it for their whole lives and that is hard to find these days.definitely recommend them for all your hobby needs

Been going here for years. Very knowledgeable and helpful. If they don't have what your looking for on the shelf they can get it for you quickly.
