Holiday Inn Express & Suites Omaha Airport, an IHG Hotel, Carter Lake IA

Great location close to the airport and downtown with a free shuttle! Free breakfast and parking. Caring staff and great hospitality. They recognized my IHG member status and gave me a complimentary room upgrade. Would definitely recommend and would stay again when in town.

The stay was really ok, with just a few irritating things that happened. The gal that checked us was very nice, but when we arrived at our room, we found a takeout box with leftover food still in the fridge. I was going to leave it in there but decided to throw it out so it wouldn't happen to the next guests. It's not a deal breaker in my book, but it shouldn't really happen. I did not report it. However, after we checked out and left the property the next morning, I realized that I had left my phone/wallet in the room! Yikes! We arrived back at the hotel in less than 10 minutes to find no one at the front desk. I was a bit anxious to recover my wallet, so I waited a few minutes before looking around to find her. I then went over to the gal who was taking care of the breakfast area. There was a little communication problem as her English wasn't the best but she tried to help me find the gal from the front desk and walked down the hall and behind the front desk and couldn't find her either so she went back to her job in the kitchen. Then, a housekeeper came by with a load of towels, and she looked for the staff as well. About 10 or more minutes went by when finally the front desk staff came walking from the south side of the building with her coat on. I can only assume she was out taking a smoking break. I understand staff need to have their brakes, but I would think they would have someone else covering the welcome center area. I was very irritated by this time but I was cordial to her, she gave me a room key and I went up to our room. Housekeeping already had the door open, and my wallet was gone. There was no one on that floor that I could find by walking up and down the hallway, checking every room that was open. I walked down one floor and found a housekeeper who also didn't know a lot of English. As we we're getting to the elevator for her to go up to my floor to help find the housekeeper from that floor, a housekeeper came in from a door beside the elevator, I was able to get my needs across to her with the help of the first housekeeper that I had found. After they spoke between each other in spanish a bit, I figured out they were telling me that she had turned it in to the front desk! Yeah! Everything was still in my wallet, so all ended well! While I didn't appreciate all the hassle, I did appreciate the honesty of the housekeeper! Thank you so much!
Also, we had arived late the night before (around 12: 30 am) and there was a brown paper bag with trash from takeout outside the room next to us and was still there when we checked out the next morning around 9 am. I guess no staff was on that floor during that time?
It wasn't a horrible stay, but I just wish they would make sure the front desk was covered at all times!

All great. Just a suggestion to serve breakfast earlier. Since this location is close to airport, I believe they should start breakfast earlier.

Close to airport. Clean rooms. Parking lot kind of small. Checked in online prior to arrival so just had to show ID and get key at front desk. Breakfast doesn't start early enough considering it's super close to the airport.

Perfect place to stay after a concert so you don't have to drive home in the dark. Deer seem to like to cross the road in front of you after dark. We quickly learned, a hotel room is cheaper than collision deductible.

Bath tub drain didn't work. Box spring and bed frame were crooked upon check in. Handle on closet door was broken. Shades on the window was out of its track and would not go up or down until I fixed it. Made complaint about noisy people above me front desk pretty much told me she didn't care and hung up on me. Shuttle driver had poor hygiene and went off on a racial rant about Mexicans. One of the worst hotels I've ever stayed in.

Edit: Below, see my original minor concerns. After posting, the property manager immediately contacted me regarding corrective action. This is a sign of quality that I appreciate and shows the high attention to detail that you can expect from this location.

This is a great franchise and hits all the buttons for success, but there are little things that detract from the overall perception of quality.
** An apparent leak in the entrance canopy has caused the faux stone near the front door to crumble into a trip Hazzard. Not attractive.
** Two of the three luggage carts had wheel wobbles.
** The shower base in accessible room 101 has a 1" trip hazard. It's not a problem except for people in need of smooth transitions.

These are minor defects that detract from the total image. I am a regular repeat client, but if you lose even one repeat client a month, it affects the overall net and your reputation of superior comfort and attention to detail.

Person at the desk was unfriendly and rude. No eye contact or smile. Very bad first impression.
Room good and clean.
Breakfast decent.

Stayed here one night before catching a flight. Newer hotel. Room was clean and bed comfortable. I would rate the experience much higher but for a couple of real issues.

One: I made this reservation a month in advance and entered 3 requests in the request field: top floor; away from elevators; back side of building away from road. While it states requests cannot be guaranteed, when we arrived the desk clerk had no information on our requests and we were placed not on top floor, next door to the elevator and facing the street. It was amazing that they were 3 for 3 at doing the opposite of my requests. Why give opportunity for guest requests if they are not passed on to the people assigning rooms? There was no flexibility or effort to move us. Very frustrating!

The Dog! The website states this hotel is no pets.service animals only. There was a man with a very aggressive, large dog who was all over the first floor and grounds with this dog. There was no typical jacket on the dog indicating it was a service animal or in training. The dog barked and lunged at us anytime we walked in sight. At checkout time we could not approach the desk because the dog was with the man chatting with two desk staff. We had to take luggage out a side door. I get that hotel guests are now required to share the space with animals. But this animal clearly did not want to share. It was aggressive and loud and the hotel staff seemed fine with it. Based on this experience, I would avoid this hotel in the future. There are lots of options in this area.

Hotel was VERY noisy and staff was short and not welcoming. It does has easy access to rental car return though but there are other options in the area.

The breakfast is actually one of the best I've had.

The pool is out of commotion though.

The staff here is great. I didn't even stay here recently to be honest. My business had our waterlines go out and therefore couldn't use the restrooms on site. Holiday Inn agreed to help us out by opening their doors for restroom use. I'm sure it's not what their staff planned for the evening but I can't thank them enough!

Very nice hotel, friendly staff, and helpful in finding a restaurant to eat dinner. Rooms are very nice and clean

I stayed here several times and absolutely loved it! The suites are very comfortable and have a lot of space to spread out. I will definitely be returning.

Never stayed but was inquiring about a housekeeping position and got denyed because im white and not bilinguel.

Close to airport, late flight into Omaha, easy check in got some much needed sleep in a quiet room. Breakfast did not disappoint to get my day started.

Staff was great, There were lots of channels on the TV, the rooms are nice and clean, The breakfast has all kinds of delicious choices and many hot options. It has a nice but very small pool and a workout room.

First I would like to start with the perfect service I had the pleasure of having. When I checked into the hotel I meet with the front desk person her name is Leah. Perfect professionalism. I witnessed her service with another family. When it was my turn to speak with her and check in I was blown away with how nice she is and her professionalism. I travel a lot and this young lady was the most nicest professional person I have encountered. She made my evening. The room is off the chain as well. I am pleased. Thank you Leah your great.

Worked well for keeping us close to where we wanted to go do our adventures. Rooms were OK, not enough staff, but that seems to be everywhere.
