Hotel Ottumwa

The staff are all very friendly and the pizza was really good and was available all night. There is also a really nice lounge on-site, also with a great staff working there.

I'm a fan of these landmark hotels so that's a big plus for me. I'm sure that I will choose this place again next time.

Wouldn't rent a room with cash to me but rented to another guest. I offered to put a $500 deposit. I won't recommend this business due to poor customer service.

My Husband and I stayed here recently for our Honeymoon in a jacuzzi suite with the honeymoon package. The room was great with an amazing view of Central Park at night. Very spacious room, comfortable bed, the chocolates & champagne were an added plus We absolutely enjoyed our special night here and highly recommend!

Food is good, hotel room was clean and comfortable. Lots of children begin housed there by a company that brings the parents into Ottumwa to work. A small group of teenage boys were always hanging out in the hall and elevator area on our floor. Inappropriate comments were made to me which made me feel very uncomfortable. We left the next morning. Hotel is in the process of being sold. Hope the building has new plans and purpose. It is a landmark.

I went there Wednesday morning to warm up and wait, for a ride. The owner of the place said I need to leave, It was cold and, my hands, was in pain because the cold. Have a freaking heart. I came to place for sometime for coffee, and I'm not going to go back, even for a few minutes. I also was on my way to a meeting for my special needs child at evens middle school.

Wish I would've taken pictures. Strange translucent white stains on carpet and throw pillows. Carpet very rippily, felt like it hasn't been cleaned in some time. All the doors were very noisy and hard to close. Most disturbing was the were no fire exit instructions on the door like the is normally. No bible in the room, which was weird with the room being really eery. Curtains down the light through, and I did not enjoy listening to the fringe all night

The mattress was probably the original one when the hotel was built. Worst mattress we had ever slept on. It took 3 pillows to make one.

Had 2 rooms with excellent hot tubs. I’ve used both now. They could use a thorough carpet cleaning soon, but the beds are comfortable, the heat and ac both work. (Different seasons each visit). Rhonda at the bar is super friendly and they have all night pizza which was amazing. It’s not super high end as it is a historical hotel, but overall would be my first choice as far as affordable and unforgettable hotels in Ottumwa

Very nice place to stay. Inside the hotel there is a bar (Tom Tom Tap) also there is a restaurant Second Street that has amazing food

Food serving in the morning has been good. I felt bad for the person serving however since they appeared understaffed. Food was good plus the 70 some year old dude (Bob?) who greets you in the morning added character to the place.

The rooms themselves are OK. Beds are pretty used (lumpy and not very comfortable) I don't necessarily blame the hotel since the average American is overweight and can pretty much wreck any furniture they choose just by sitting/laying in it.

Bathroom was older and didn't appear to be in the best working order (clogged shower drain, toilet that took 3 minutes to fully flush.) Water pressure from the shower head was great though! Just old and in need of remodeling.

Overall an OK experience from when I've booked this place.

Rooms were nice, beds were comfortable and everything was clean. Older, yes, but cared for and clean. We loved the building and breakfast in the cafe was fast and delicious. Very crispy bacon, just how I like it. Front desk, cleaner in the hallway, wait staff; everyone was really polite and helpful. Walk north up the hill to the park in front of city hall, library, and courthouse, too. It's lovely.

We stayed in the annex building so we had a kitchen. Oven didn’t work properly, I had to clean the shower before we could use it (hair from all body parts left in there and on the floor), room smelled awful, felt very dirty staying there, fleas or something in carpet, and unit at the end had a very strong odor of marijuana coming from it and looked lived in, not rented for a week or so. Overall, we were very disappointed and few misled by the pictures on the website.

The carpet in the room was smelly and dirty and the upholstery on the chair was very dirty and smelly. Also the evening desk clerk was disrespectful and uninformed of her job. The cleanliness and caliber of help has greatly declined. We will no longer be a guest of this hotel.

We had a great experience at this hotel! We got if for a super affordable rate which included a REAL breakfast at the neighboring Cafe. That in itself made it worth it. Janna, at the front desk was also super helpful and nice. This hotel had a great charm, would recommend it.

For being and older hotel very clean and comfortable! Nice large TV, friendly service convenient restaurant & store of snake over all Great stay for being stuck in the middle of Iowa for the night
