Hy-Vee Grocery Store reviews
18Getting real tired of every aisle being nothing but pallets of groceries. Morning noon or night it always looks like the store is in the middle of stocking up for the 1st time ever.
This is a lot better than most other hyvee although it is obvious difference between a city hyvee and a small town hyvee when comparing customer service.
Small town grocery store. Polite staff, and they will even take the groceries to your car for you. Great bakery - love the donuts, cakes, rolls, etc. The wine and spirits is a separate building set close by in the parking lot, along with a garden and yard mini-shop that sells trees, flowers, etc in season as well as things like wheel barrows, seeds, and lawn ornaments. Prices for food are higher than Walmart, but the meat and produce and bakery are all better, and it is closer for us. They have a lot of good sales, especially in the meat department.
Had an issue with western union but went into hy-vee and the employee that I dealt with called and got everything situated. Great communication, and the willingness to go above and beyond the scope of their responsibilities
Convenient always has fresh meat sometimes the fruits not all the greatest and a little expensive but a good place to shop
Never has the brand/items I am looking for
Edit: 7/18/22
Went in needing a money order this morning. Upon standing at the Customer Service counter, some woman approaches me and says "do you want something? " without any hint of "I can help you with that" attitude, more of a "what are you, STUPID? " attitude. So I told her yes, that's why I was standing there, because I needed Customer Service for a money order. So she is real quick to say that "We're not open until 8". Still no trace of "I can help you with that". Just plain RUDE.
Their bakery items are TRASH.if you're looking for a 'light and fluffy ' ANYTHING, don't expect to get it here. Everything from this bakery that I've gotten has been heavy and WET.
As for calling to speak to a manager, why bother when I've spoken to one in the store and I've been rudely turned aside.
THIS IS WHY I SHOP IN COUNCIL BLUFFS!
This will be the next store to close in red Oak if they don't straighten their mess out. We already go to the city or to Amazon for everything Kmart and shopko sold us; and WALMART IS LESS EXPENSIVE.
Disappointed. Pre-made food was terrible.burnt dry. I'm not sure about hot food.it was closed
Yeah Fuel Savers! Screwed up ur relationship recently? -maybe stop in and pick her up something u know she'll love from the floral dept. Just make sure to grab something for dinner too, so u don't starve if by chance she still won't let u back in the house.just sayin-better to be safe, than go hungry!
Overall, I find this Hy-vee to be what you would expect for small town living. I do wish that they were able to expand on on their selections of not only the grocery selections but the OTC medications and products in that area. I'm not able to find many of the items that I normally find in the Hy-Vee stores in larger populations. I guess I'm still trying to get used to "small town living". It's rather difficult for me since there are many of my weekly purchases that are now unavailable for me to obtain. That's on me though. Just one more adjustment for me to make since I truly enjoy living here.
We have been using Madison Ave but everything is less insane in RO & we can almost everything that you can get at a larger store.
It's very pricey for a grocery store in a small town and I've lived here for five years they still watch me like a hawk what am I going to do a circus act but I still have to go to them for money orders and medicine not many places to go in this town for certain things
Price hikes are ridiculous. Lots of out on the shelves. Hard to find sometimes what you're looking for
Two sisters working the hot foods didn't tell a customer how much the rotisserie chicken cost. She asked twice. It was cold and less expensive. (Experienced the cost once before) That's all they seemed to manage to say to the customers. Not the price though. Avocados are usually over rot. And still sold at a high price. Ridiculous!
+ A larger selection of products. Good sale prices. Pharmacy employees are friendly & helpful.
- Customer service has declined. Most generally there is only one register open & the checker barely speaks to you. I usually sack my own groceries & haul them to my car by myself. It doesn't bother me (I actually prefer it that way) but my mom hates it & doesn't like shopping there anymore. She'd like someone to at least offer assistance.
Good service and store really makes an effort to bring something special to Red Oak. Sale prices are good, while everyday prices may be a bit higher, but the selection often saves a longer trip to Omaha metro
I am upset that they do not have the isle overhead signs filled. Everytime I go there, several items are not priced on the shelves. Some of the items in the pharmacy/drug section are very dusty.
Need more gluten free food in all areas plus frozen, used to have frozen waffles now they don't one of my favorites
Grocery stores don't come any better. Ample selections, sale items, and staff are superior. I like the wide aisles.
