Island View Park reviews
16This place was nice, but we had issues with the electrical outlets. The park staff were prompt and courteous but could only fix a couple of outlets. I also think they need to clean up around the shoreline so it is more accessible to visitors.
Nice large camping areas gravel pads with fire pit and tables. They have 30 and 50 amp sites available. Most sites have a view of the lake.
Beautiful park with trails swimming picnic shelters basketball courts and more. Lookout point is aways a nice place for a picnick.
Not the worst camping experience I've had but will probably not return. The roads and the vault toilet were horrendous. Only way into the park is by an extremely dusty gravel road. Also had bad neighbors who played loud music all night with no obvious person to call about it. Giving it three stars as I could see it being a better experience for RV's, and it was a pretty area.
Highly recommend camping at Island View. Campground hosts are always friendly. Shower facility is good, some bathroom buildings need work. Camp spots are well maintained.
This time of year doesn't reflect the beauty of this area of Lake Rathbun. Site is where President Richard Nixon formally dedicated the Lake to the area.
Lots of area to move about and a number of different recreational things to do there. Handicap friendly with pretty views of the lake area and the different wildlife that live there.
Lots of nice shade and beach access which, depending on water level, may or may not be somewhere you want to hang out.
Potable water spigot at shower house and one at the top of the loop. Hopefully, they will add another at the far end someday.
Best part, it's very private and remote, so not many people driving through.
Beautiful campground. Family oriented. Very clean, quite. Well definitely be going back to go camping here again.
Our camping spot is nice but no water hydrant, however the next camp area further from the lake has water hydrants, wish they would run a few water lines down to this one and it would be perfect
It was actually Walnut City the very end outlet, I like going there to rock hunt, picnic, just to sit, its quiet, beautiful scenery, nice fishing, wading, taking the grandkids, one of my favorite places to go.
I go every chance I get.
Great, clean space with room on either side of the beach to beach skis or boats and grill or have a shore camp, pick up tubers, etc. Good fishing if you stray off the main beach area. Easy and efficient boat dock with a cove off to the side to 'park' your watercraft while you park your truck. Pay for the parking or risk a huge ticket, even for beach only. They actually check unlike most state facilities we're accustomed to, and witnessed 1 group who'd been warned the previous day at the beach get a $105 dollar ticket. Play stupid games.
Beautiful campground! My wife and I stayed at Island View park for just a night but the park was just what we were looking for. Beautiful lake, the grass and trees were kept nice, and the camping spots were spaced out to where you didn't feel like you were on top of other campers. We will definitely be staying longer on our next camping trip!
It's a beautiful location, the carers seem to work hard to make it as nice for people as possible. I do wish there were more beaches around Rathbun.
The largest lake in iowa. Nice and quiet and beautiful water. A great place to camp and BBQ
Fantastic camping venue. Easy lake access. Good distance between sites. Easy to navigate camper around. Electric hookups. Running water bathrooms. Beautiful sunsets over the lake. Lots of space for sports and walking.
