Jay's CD and Hobby, West Des Moines IA

Love this place. Went in looking for old magazines and found them.score! Also got some Funkos and a popcorn box from actually Disneyland so excited.reasonably priced. Yay!

Have sold and bought from them multiple times no issue always great deals buying and selling except for today. Took in about 20 ish funko pops totaling a trending value of about $700. I knew I was gonna get nothing close to this but the offer I got was a big slap in the face. $157 for the bunch. Pathetic

I will preface this by stating this place used to be a go-to for us.

The good: Variety of products. You could wander in there looking at random stuff for a while, if you're so inclined. They have quite literally something for anybody's tastes. This is without question their strongest trait.

Frequent sales on media are good, and they have a buy 3 get one anyways, so if you like buying movies this is a good spot.

The bad: Buy-In Prices have become down right insulting for anything. Last time it took them well over two and a half hours with one other smaller buy-in in the queue for our buy-in, and I saw staff just talking about movies and playing video games and saying they were "testing, " before being prodded and then them magically getting back on task again. This has been incredibly consistent across multiple visits. They offer you the choice to call you when they have an offer, or to have you hang out in the store. I have never received a call with the first option, and the later takes all day. I would no recommend selling anything here, just find a pawn shop or something else, even a Gamestop if you have newer stuff.

Prices on merchandise are wildly inconsistent on things on the shelves, you will see multiple copies of the same game, movie, etc, all priced differently, condition apparently being a non-issue. Vinyl is ridiculously overpriced at all Jay's locations.

Staff is generally rude lately, with the exception of a few people.

The whole place has an odd rank smell to it. Bathrooms usually look like a dirt track race occurred in them from all the brown.

The pricing to condition ratio of used hardware, figures, and other non-media seems random, and damaged and discolored things are still priced at or above Ebay most of the time. They do not haggle often.

Not the same store it used to be in previous years.

Ups dropped my package off here for some reason. I will deal with ups about this. But this place was pretty cool with toys and etc. I was able to get my package.

I have not felt comfortable in this Jay's location for along time. Also, I don't understand their set up. In one section, instead of splitting the rows of movies into sections (ex: A's, start the B's, then move to the next section of shelves finish the B's then start the C's) they start at one end of the row then go all the way down to the other end, then you have to walk back down to the start end & repeat this process. I'm not lazy, however this is confusing. You have to invade the other customer's space as they invade your's to repeat this process. It's ridiculous. I may have to go elsewhere to browse & purchase the series & movies I want.

Great place to see just about everything! Anime figures, blind boxes, POPs, cd's, games (real & console), consoles, records, the list goes on! Terrific selection and service!

Very friendly employees, good vibes in the store, and I was able to buy GTA 4 pre-owned for the Xbox. I am very happy with the service and getting my pre-owned copy of GTA 4. You guys are great above and beyond.

The Iowa Gundam Builders come out here and visit once every 3rd Saturday of the month and Jay's CD here being a supporter of the community is a huge plus. I travel to Des Moines just for the fun day of building with friends from the area and picking up new kits that Jay's stock regularly. There's a Lego build group as well and it's awesome to see a hobby shop allow everyone to come in like that and buy/build right there in the store during their club days. I look forward to visiting every chance I can get

The selection of Jay's CD and Hobby has a huge for records, and the environment is amazing, a true nerd paradise! The pricing of items is fair, the staff is somewhat helpful, and the overall selection for products is okay.

I've gotten into collecting Nes games and they are the go-to trio of stores in dsm area for this. Reasonably priced.

Loved Jay's! Went and checked out every location! This one was my favorite but probably simply because it was the first of the locations I visited. I also found the best items at this location too. That could've been by chance, however if I visit Des Moines again, I'll start with this location.

Just about any kind of action figure you could imagine. Very unique stuff. Even if you collect certain items and are knowledgeable about those items, I'd dare to say you could find something you didn't know existed. Absolutely worth checking out!

Employees are friendly and professional. They gave me fair prices for the sports cards that I sold.

Took some pokemon and yugioh cards in to sell they gave me $35 dollars. I assumed they would give a fair price I completely understand they have to make money as well. But boy am I surprised to see the cards sold to them now for sale at over $225 dollars. Never again will I sell them a single card nor will I support this buisness ever again. Even if they gave me 50% of the value I would have been fine with that nope they give 15% then turn around and sell for 110% of market value. Hopefully this place gets shut down so they can't scam people anymore. Worse than a pawnshop.

Had the game I wanted and it was cheap and the guys were far nicer than any of the other places I've visited. 11/10 will recommend!

They have got it all here! Great GUNPLA selection, obscure retro games, new video games, and like all the totally fun not pay to win tcgs.

Jays has a huge variety of things. My favorite section is there records. Every time I am there I am always shocked at what I find.
