Kalona Creamery reviews
19Best ice cream I've had in Iowa. Try their string cheese and their coffee! So fresh, so local
Kalona creamery was good. However, Kalona chicken not good. 4$ for an old laying hen, totally gross
Reply to Kalona Creamery, it was Kalona Chicken out on Orange.
Love love this little stop! Adorable merchandise, delicious curds, and yummy treats. Must stop in Kalona!
It's not what it used to be. The new owners have covered the best viewing window, so all I saw was a hand washing basin and some metal tubes and pipes.
Still has a large selection of local preserves, honey, noodles. Several craft sodas, novelty items, and unique cheeses.
The cheese selection, however, is not nearly as large as it used to be, and the curds are no longer so fresh that they squeek.
I am an ice cream and cheese curd connoisseur, growing up traveling to and from Wisconsin I got to taste all kinds of squeaky cheese and home made ice cream. Kalona Creamery ranks up there with Renards Cheese in Wisconsin. The ice cream far exceeded my basic Vanilla usual.
Their chocolate ice cream tasted amazing. I usually don’t like that flavor.
I was traveling through going back to Jacksonville Illinois.
I will be back!
Great curds, was nice that they had coloring sheets for the kids and a life-sized cow in the entryway.
We stopped for specific items. We haven't been there in years. Prices were as expected.
We drove from Davenport, and it was worth the trip! The workers were friendly, and the store and restrooms were clean. Our kids loved the ice cream, and I loved the cheese curds! The bacon/ ranch seasoning for the cheese curds was great (even though I poured the entire container in the bag). We would love to come by and watch the employees make the curds sometime!
Totally worth the drive to visit this shop! It is not large but packed full of neat items that are farm/dairy themed, cute and quirky. They offer artwork, mugs, toys and puzzles, small kitchen ware, a variety of unusual sodas, a huge selection of cheese, ice cream, sausages and fudge. The fudge is absolutely delicious! I sampled a piece of cheddar bacon cheese and it was good, but the sample bacon ranch cheese curd was insanely tasty! Staff were very pleasant and helpful.
Nice, not like it used to be, only one person working register. No rating, she was efficient and kept the line moving pretty well.
Not a big vanilla ice cream fan.but wanted to share with the dog.um.she got a little!
BEST VANILLA ICE CREAM EVER!
First timer and will definitely go back.
Some unique items.cow key chain with light, 1000 piece state fair jigsaw puzzle.
DELICIOUS FUDGE.
Very clean! Employees were friendly, courteous, and helpful in providing directions to our next stop.
They have a gift shop and sell drinks and snacks. They also sell fresh cheese curds. The public restrooms were clean. They have a window set up so that you can watch the cheese being made, if you are there at the right time. The teenage employees in the gift shop were conversion and a source of information.
Would be 5 stars but the cheese curds are not as fresh and squeaky like they used to be. Now it's like everyone else's. Frowny face.
Lots of unique goods. Was here years ago so the return trip was as good as the first time. Many home made spices and mixes.
Kalona Creamery makes squeaky cheese curds, unique ice cream, 15 flavors of fudge, and Kalona SuperNatural organic dairy products with milk from small, local farms. The gift shop has many toys and candy for children. The Kalona Creamery is a fun place to create special memories with your children and grandchildren. The Kalona Creamery is a delightful tourist attraction that still sells 50 kinds of cheese in a nod to it's history as one of the largest cheese producers in Iowa. You can also watch squeaky cheese curds being made and take a tour of the cheese production facility.
I very much enjoyed Kalona creamery great ice cream great cheese awesome chocolate milk and Paul the guy that runs the loading department is awesome
A great old- fashioned dairy. Fairly recently remodeled. Small town Iowa! You will see Amish horse and buggies cruising past here and around Kalona.
