Bar is kinda small for social distancing but nice patio and good bar food. Very friendly staff.

Ordered 2 burgers to go the Casino and Nipper are both REALLY good I also reccomend getting Kelly's Corn it is very good

Continuing on the alphabet challenge and we are at K.
We chose Kelly's Little Nipper just east of the Iowa Capital on Grand Ave for this dinner. A historic little place with history back beyond prohibition.
We enjoyed eating here. It's amazing how the 'dive bar' restaurant foods are tasty and priced affordably.
For appetizers we went with the vodka battered onion rings. Now I'm not a fan of onion rings but the wife is, I actually really liked these and ate about half of the order. These were amazing.
Wife ordered the fish and chips but wishes she would've gone with something more original on their menu.
For me I went one of my favorites, guinea grinder. No complaints on it.

We all agreed that this is in our top three of the restaurant challenge thus far. We will be going back.

Fun people. Great food. Do yourself a favor & try the "Nipper Rite" w/ cheese, pickles, & onions.also, get a side of Kelly's corn!

Very nice bartenders. Respectful. Fair prices on beverages and food and lots of memories of all sorts on the walls. Recommend visiting.

What a fun place. Great band and the food was OUTSTANDING. Onion rings were perfect and thick. Burgers are rumored to be the best in town. Enjoy

Been a life long customer of the Nipper. Never seen one place change over owners so many times before now. The Nipper is so much more these days! I feel there is one contributing factor to this and his name is JEFF. The man is amazing! He definitely is hands on, making sure he is putting out the best quality food and drinks, and making sure each customer is satisfied and will be returning. Lunch crowd is amazing, food is amazing! Bands, and patio with games, not to mention the amazing drink specials and the on top service they provide (if your thinking (Really? At the Nipper?) Then you haven't been by lately. Stop in and check it out. Nice family ran neighborhood bar where everyone does know everyone's name!

Amazing like waking up early on a spring morning before the sun comes up, but wait.there it is! Lo and behold! The SUN! Creeping over the horizon, like a burning ball of dive bar-ness casting light on the eastside. Elsie and the tacos are a good time too. Plus they have an amazing website.

As always it's been a relaxing and enjoyable time at Kelly's. Nothing but the best. Good service good drinks and great company!

Always a delicious lunch from Kelly's! Blessed to be able to get such good food so close (and variety!), I'm usually at the headshop a few doors east and need something easy and tasty, Kelly's is the perfect place! Everyone i've met has also been very friendly and welcoming.

Awesome surprise. Been to lunch there several times now. Kelly's is one of Des Moines best kept secrets. Never have had a bad meal there. Kelly's is a place that should have been on Diners Drive Inns & Dives when they featured Des Moines. Great staff, great food and menu. Trust me, try this place.

Neighborhood bar has one pool table and it's free on Sundays. The drink I ordered was weak. One bartender who was busy, I asked for another shot I never got.

Had a great time drinking and stinking in here. We came to Des Moines over 4th of July weekend and really enjoyed ourselves. The staff here is great and made us feel at home.

The best tenderloins I've ever had! Kelly's is a local small bar and grill that attracts more of the neighborhood crowd but has great food that we have traveled 20 or more miles for. The tenderloins are larger than a plate and the side items are really good also. Especially the homemade onion rings!

I absolutely love this place. It's a small little place but packs so much charm. I actually met the owners one night. He was very kind and you can tell he takes pride in his bar. It's very clean and has fun pictures hanging. The food is incredible! I will say, my favorite thing about this place is they have live music. Great place! I highly recommend grabbing some food and a beer and enjoying some great live music.

Kelly's little Nipper I seen owners come and go I am almost 60 and I went there since I've been a kid owner of it now has really done a great job but they shouldn't mess with the hot sausage sandwich but the service is good it's an awesome place the owner is very friendly and makes you feel welcome
