Marco's Pizza, Waukee IA

I've had Marco's Pizza in several states and several locations. If you don't like the outer edge of your crust 3 inches into the pizza and to be without toppings and bubbled up, this isn't for you.

Dysfunctional, rude, and incompetent staff. This sums up my experience each of the two times I’ve given Marcos in Waukee a shot. During my visit this evening, employees were loudly accusing others of taking money “from the store bag, ” others standing around refusing to help a doordasher who has been waiting for over 45 minutes because “they’re off the clock, ” and a front-end employee disappearing every few minutes while the phone rings and 4 customers have not been helped. Not to mention, when I ordered over the phone I had the pleasure of listening to a 4-minute long shouting match between employees to “do your ****** job! ” instead of being put on hold.

EDIT: Update - after waiting for 30 minutes beyond when my pizzas were supposed to be done, I was told they haven’t even started on my order which was placed via phone 3 hours ago. My 4-year old’s pretend kitchen doesn’t have this much dysfunction!

Miss the old manager who left a month or two ago seems the owners or corporate have a staff problem with the generalmanagement

Edit: We called them 3 hours after ordering and 1 hour after they lied and said we would have our food within 30 minutes…they ran out of dough! So they weren’t even going to bother calling all their customers who had been waiting! Absolutely POOR customer service here! We are officially done with this location for good, happy to spend our money elsewhere! Livid!

The food is pretty good, food isn’t the issue here at all. However, you will need to order 3 hours BEFORE you’re actually wanting to eat because they take FOREVER! Their estimations are terrible. This is the third time we’ve ordered and it’s taken well over 45-60 minutes past their estimated time for delivery or pickup. Whoever owns this place needs to figure out how to get some workers because people are going to stop spending their hard earned money here.

This is a refreshing take on chain pizza. The flavors are good and very convenient locations.

After being quoted a time of 10 minutes, it took over an hour to receive any food, and it definitely wasn't worth the wait. The food was mostly just cheese and grease, and one of the three toppings was missing entirely. The price was decent for a pizza place, though.

Just got delivered COLD pizza and wings… literally frozen. I get it’s cold but we got delivery right to our door and got it on time and it was all freezing to the touch. Now ordering dominos as I did last weekend and EVERYTHING was delivered HOT. I have gone to Marcos many times for pick up with no issues just longer wait times but won’t be going back after this.

Terrible service.today, loved this location until today. Ordered 2 pizzas one was for the kids half cheese half pepperoni that they got wrong then to make things worse the second pizza wasn't even close to what was ordered. So I called and they wanted me to bring back the pizza they gave me and come back to pick up my pizza. Went and picked up the right pizza and it was still wrong. On top of that no discount for the inconvenience. So disappointed in this store and will not be returning

This is a cute little pizza shop. Pizzas have a very good flavor. Was shocked at how long it took since we were the only ones there for lunch at 12: 30pm but the dishes were ordered were delicious, nonetheless.

Great food; however they can't give an accurate wait time or deliver your food on time to save their lives. I understand being short staffed but then don't tell me my order will be ready in 40 minutes if you know you can't follow through on that time. Every time I order delivery it comes an hour after it's supposed so this time I did carry out and they told us 40 min so it should be ready at 6: 11 it's now 6: 35 and we are still waiting for our pizzas to be made. This will be the last time I order from marcos as I have given my feedback on this issue 3 other times and nothing gets done.

As I type this, I have eaten some of our pizza order, which got here half an hour after the estimated delivery time, which was itself an hour and fifteen minutes after the order was placed. If there was some notification of the time it would take before I committed to the order, I didn't see it.

Being really busy is understandable-I think it's the last day of Drake Relays, and it's a Saturday, and Marco's makes really good pizza. (Despite being a bit cool, the thin crust pizza we got is as good as I remember the awesome thin crust from Imo's in St. Louis being.) That said, we might not have chosen to place our order had we known ahead of time how long it would take.

The web site, on which I placed the order, requires that you choose a specific Marco's to prepare and optionally deliver your order. Once they know that, they should have sufficient information to respond "Whoa! This Marco's is REALLY BUSY and t's liable to take [time] to get your order cooked and in your hands. Do you want to reconsider? " All I ask for is the info I need to make an informed choice. (Some folks have issues with drugs that need to be taken with food.)

So.four stars tonight for time issues. ANY other time, an unhesitating five stars.

Loved their pizza and cheesy breadsticks.
But had to question my amount of my order at first. Cashier corrected the mistake after realizing that he should have charged me for a medium one topping pizza. Would have cost me an extra $5! And a one and only visit.
I will be back!

Marco's is an extremely underrated pizza place here in the metro area. Most pizza nights we have go straight through Marco's!

Quite some time ago (I think not too much longer after Marcos opened) I stopped into Marcos to pick up an order. That night it was an absolute mess. People were backed up over an an hour waiting on their pizza. Customers were becoming rude with staff, very rude, and it just was not a good night for Marcos. Grown adults were complaining at the young staff just trying to figure out what to do. When I say they were struggling that night, they were struggling. Pizza was ok.

Fast forward, a few weeks after that I received a hand written card from the business owner. Hand written! In that card was an apology for the debacle that night with a coupon for free cheesy bread, and an ask to give them another shot. I would have regardless, but this letter always stuck with me to support their efforts.

Since, Marcos has been at the top of my list for the area. It’s always fresh whether delivered or pick up. I’ve ordered from here now on multiple occasions.

Last night they said my order would be done in 18 minutes, and they handed it over to me exactly on the dot 18 minutes after I hung up the phone with my order. The gentleman that answered the phone was super pleasant and the younger gal that handed me my pizza was also very pleasant and thought it deserves a review.

Great staff, great pizza.

First time ordering from Marcos Pizza, I placed an order at 6: 12pm last night, estimated delivery time was 7: 30. Called in and spoke with them around 7: 35 for an update and they stated pizza was ready but they were waiting for a driver to get back from another delivery. I called again at 7: 56 where they assured me the pizza was just picked up and set for delivery, they stated it would be here no longer than 20 minutes. Our delivery driver Shelli then called and said she had one delivery before us and explained that they were short staffed hence they weren’t pushing out as many pizza’s so we would get ours hot which goes against my original call where they said the pizza was ready at 7: 35pm. Not sure if they forgot my order first time around or what the mix up was but overall not a good first impression. Won’t be ordering from here again. Shelli was great, very apologetic and we understood it wasn’t her fault.

It's almost like they put crack in the dough because once you have it you totally want more. Fantastic place to get a pie

If I could give more stars I would. I expected to go in and pick up my pizza and go. But I was greeted super nicely and after picking up my pizza, I was offered another pizza because of it being thanksgiving and the employees wanting to show their appreciation and thanks. Whether they were given permission or not it made my day ways better after a not great day. I never got their names but I greatly appreciate the people that did that tonight, it made me feel special for this. Thank you to all that was there.
