Mediacom Communications Corporation reviews
14Mediacom communications is literally TRASH the people that I sympathize are the actual people that just try to set it up for the customer. The company keeps trying to get money out of the customers bit-by-bit. They won't even tell you and they will try to sneak out money without any of your consent or say. The Internet isn't that good either. So that tells me enough what this company is. They will squeeze every dime out of the customers because they are greedy Big Corp. Even if you close your account they will try to bug you to the point where you have to call them yourself tell them to Foff and Close it.
Disappointingly high charges for transferring service to a new address. Service however was decent (4/5 on its own). Issues arose when cancelling my service. I cancelled over the phone near the beginning of a service month. The representative cancelled out seven days from my call (policy), and the leftover bill would have been "about six dollars" according to the representative. They told me that "since I had been a customer for so long" they would credit my account for that "six dollars" and I was done with Mediacom and didn't owe anything else. So the representative cancelled my autopay over the phone for me as well. I randomly decided to check on this account a few weeks later and it said I had a ~$10.00 balance that was past due.
I called and was told by this rep that there is "no way" to credit an account for charges, so they aren't sure why the last person said they would credit my account because "they never do that. " This actually makes sense, so it is not about the $10.00 charge but the fact that had I not checked my account randomly I would have started to get past due fees when the representative is the one that cancelled my auto-pay after confirming I would not have any more charges due.
Womp womp.
Glad they're no longer our cable provider. Gentleman at front desk was friendly though when returning my equipment.
Warning! I was looking through local internet companies and found out that Mediacom actually caps the amount of data you can use of theirs like a mobile phone internet service. Extreamly shady.
Worst internet company I've ever dealt with. Horrible customer service. They see you only as a number. Their policies are made to screw over people. Disgusting.
Quite possibly the worst internet company in the Mid West. The only reason they're still alive is due to the Monopoly they hold.
If possible, don't even do business with them. If you have the option of choosing ICS or Mediacom, always go for ICS. Mediacom is a waste of time.
Had Mediacom for about 2 years now. It's been intermittent and I have had techs out two times to fix the same issue and it is still not solved over a month later. Now, working from home late at night due to quarantine, twice within 4 days Mediacom is ''Servicing" the lines from midnight exactly to sometime around 7 am. Absolutely terrible due to the fact that THEY DO NOT NOTIFY CUSTOMERS IN ADVANCE! Plan on canceling later this week and settling for slower internet through century link.
Edit: 3 times in 6 days they have gone down.
The level of incompetence in the staff at this company is amazing. We pay our bill for internet and it works like 60% of the time. We have 2 houses on our account and when we would call them out to fix one account they would shut down the other. Then when they went to fix the other they would shut down our internet all while we are being charged for internet.
Then they techs who did this say we have to call customer service which is a joke because we don’t even know what to tell at this point. We have called them 3 times and each tine I call the support ppl screw something up.
Had to wait a little over 2 hours in line to get my internet package that was supposed to include wires and my modem. When I got home there was NO WIRES IN THE PACKAGE. I then had to go back and wait the same amount of time to get the wires.
Never had outages from other companies, Mediacom had multiple outages in a year that last for hours. Over priced. Took multiple technicians to correct an issue over multiple visits.
Quality of the internet is absolutely awful, but by being the “best” in town and have a monopoly on the town allows them to jack up the price of their services. Quality over quantity.
Requested for service to be shut off at the end of the month. It was shut off 11 days early. Called to have it restored and was on the phone for over an hour. The rep on the phone said they were having problems restoring it and that it would be done later that day. It was still not restored the next day. Ended up going to the local office that day and told them to just keep it disconnected.
Poor service. Never works half the time. Technicians never know what they are doing. Wish we had a different provider to go through.
