MercyOne Mason City Urgent Care reviews
7Not a long wait time for a Saturday but the doctors could be more compassionate and helpful.
I went there on a Sunday morning as the result of a late Saturday night asthma flareup. There were patients ahead of me, but I was checked in a very timely manner and had no trouble with the receptionist dealing with insurance information issues. When I was seen by the P. A.she was very receptive with the information I gave her as to how this condition was dealt with before. They also did not proscribe additional unneeded tests to squeeze more revenue out of me and my insurance like the ER room did at a hospital 30 miles to the west. Thankyou
Horrible experience. The front office staff was very cranky and rude. I was taken back in a timely manner (~20 minutes waiting) and then waited in the room for over 40 minutes before a nurse came in. Once the doctor finally got in he barley looked at my skin rash and ordered a battery of tests without any explanation why. As I waited for another hour, he brought in a paper of what he thought was going on- he literally googled my rash and just printed off the sheet from the internet instead of communicating with me. I had a X-ray tech who was so inconsiderate it was alarming. I needed a chest X-ray and she made me change with the door open in the imaging room. Then she needed a side view but left the door wide open with my gown open while I had ZERO clothes on with my rear exposed to the whole office. I asked for a second gown to cover up she said most people don’t care and hurried me along. I refused until I got a second gown and she was less then pleased. I then waited longer for lab tests. As I left I felt rushed out (As it was close to closing time) with zero real explanation on my rash and when I would get my test results back. I called back the next day and there is no real number for this urgent care. I finally got through and the front office staff was mad I called and said we are a walk in clinic only. I explained why I was calling and wanted my test results. It took 2 days for the doctor to call me back and said he didn’t know the reason/cause of my rash and to just follow up with my primary care. As a health care professional myself, this was alarming! No patient privacy, rude and hurried staff and little respect/knowledge. I would drive to Ames or Cedar Falls before I use this clinic or any Mercy services again.
I had the worse experience. From now on I will be going to Quick Care! I do not recommend anyone take there kids here or go here for them selfes
Second time being here. The medical staff is very nice and knowledgeable. However the lady at the front desk Diane is very rude. She has been rude both times I've been here. If she doesn't want to treat people with kindness especially those who are sick, why would she work at a walk in clinic. Like I said this ia not the first time she had been rude. I understand you want people to wear a mask to stop the spread of germs. But maybe say please and with a gentle tone in your voice not demanding and snappy.like I said the rest of the staff is great. Diane however should look for work elsewhere
My son took a tumble skiing and we wanted to have the back of his head checked as he had soreness/pain. After talking to the nurse, she left the room momentarily and returned stating, "the doctor wants a strep test. " I told her my son does not have a sore throat, cough or runny nose and that we came to have the back of his HEAD checked out. The doctor whom we had yet to meet, comes to the doorway said he needs a strep test. I told him my son does not have a sore throat and that it was absolutely not necessary. He told me I needed to take my son somewhere else then. I told him he was ridiculous and we left. I don't know how that doctor can live with himself!
This was a breath of fresh air after my horrible experience with quick care. The staff was extremely professional, friendly and seemed to really be interested in helping us.
PS quick care is horrible!
