Miller Riverview Park reviews
6We were invited to the park for a little motorcycle ride with friends. They were camping for 4 days at the park.
Nice park, close to everything. Park bathrooms and showers were a true hazmat situation.
So, the casino's website states they don't allow RV parking in their lot, but you can camp around back in this RV park. It appears both the casino and the park are owned and operated by the city.
We arrived, following signs to the registration office, only to find nothing but an old, junker RV and a closed sno-cone trailer. Then, we see what appeared to be some homeless people walking out of the showers back to their luggage pile wearing only a towel. Pan to the Right, and you see the tent sites, with one setup that looked like like they had been living there for some time.
"Okay, let's drive around to find our spot, it's only for one night. "
As we drove around, there were some high dollar rigs parked in some spots, but there were also some campers that were probably a decade or two past their time for the scrap pile. We found our spot, a pull-thru so we didn't have to unhitch, but it was really sandy. A much heavier rig might have some trouble getting all the way through. There was an electric hookup, but no water or sewer, but it was only $20 to park. While walking our dogs, I noticed quite a lot of trash strewn about the park. I picked up quite a bit while walking the dogs.
We went to the casino. Now, the casino is literally next door to the campground, but there is no easy access back door, no sidewalks, no street lights (more on that below), and, in the heat, it is what feels like a 10 mile hike to the front door! This was not a well thought out solution for RVers.
Walking back to the RV, still feeling like a 10 mile hike, at night, with no street lights part of the way, felt very sketchy! There were quite a few strange people walking around the place. I didn't win anything, but I would have been very leery to walk back with a wad of cash if I had won something.
Don't think we are coming back to this place on any future trips!
The main feature here is the unique location, on a Mississippi River island, with many well-shaded level spacious lots suitable for longer rigs. If watching trains at a distance, and tugboats closer up is your thing, you'll like it. Firewood is available from the host. It's a little bit buggy, but this is the outdoors, so this is a feature, not a bug.
Great views. Reasonable prices. Right on Mississippi River. Lots of sand. We enjoyed our stay
