Get exactly what I asked for every time. Hair looks and feels great! Love the look of the place and the nice energy from the stylists there.

I am very particular about my hair and have had a hard time finding a salon in Ames who can do what I want, but I recently got my hair colored by Kelsie and she did the best job. I have had it colored at other salons and they just don’t do my hair justice like Kelsie did. She was so kind and eased any worries by talking my through her whole process. She also made the salon feel welcoming by chatting with me throughout our whole appt. I have also had my hair cut by Megan and had a welcoming experience. She answered all of my questions thoroughly and recommended awesome products. I would highly recommend going here!

I booked an appointment for a haircut without mentioning I was going to have 15 inches of hair cut off; I was very excited when Abi Garrett started, she did a wonderful job! I would definitely recommend this salon and abi to anyone looking for a fresh cut!

The past 3 years I have only been here twice but I always get more then great customer service. I will continue to make this place my place to get a hair cut or trim! Such a great, postive atmosphere! I love my hair cut.

She was professional and extremely talented and helped my vision for me hair turn into reality.

Unfortunately the boss of this establishment however treated me so unprofessionally And was extremely disrespectful to me.
I literally could not believe how she handled herself in this situation and how poorly she represented the salon.

AFTER spending almost $1000 dollars at her salon, she argued with me over a $30 dollar product fee she was charging me for a toner FIX. Something we had to do due to a toner misfortune, which I was completely understanding about.

I’m a single mother of a two year old and I work hard for my money, and my time and I would HOPE that when you invest that amount of money in a business that when there is something that needs to be fixed, you don’t charge them for It.

I’m not going to go into detail, but she explained the same thing to me FIVE TIMES, and I’m not incapable of understanding things said to me once.

That in itself was so inappropriate, implying that I was inept at understanding this situation and apparently plain English. Because she continued to explain it two more times after she knew I was keeping track of the amount of times explained.

I’m not incompetent actually, quite the contrary.
And what she was explaining was that sometimes achieving a hair color can be a process, which I am aware of, but adding purple and bronze to hair is NOT part of that process. (Kelsey not your fault)
So what she was articulating on was not even correct! Because if i came in to get my light brown hair simply lightened/toned and then I was sent home with lavender purple, bronzed and darker hair then when I went in, then was told by the manager that I had to not only pay for $80 that but also pay to come back and fix it.
I would have never come back. EXCEPT to fix it. I would have been back for a final visit then.
And I GUARANTEE you that Other guests feel the same way.
Kelsey handled the entire situation with grace and professionalism, and I wish that had been the end of it.
Hair coloring can be unpredictable and it’s no ones fault if it doesn’t turn out the planned,
but the customer should NOT have to pay to fix it. That is right and not the way a business should carry themselves.
I had to write this review because there is so much that goes on in the business world that is not ethicality, or morally correct and the customers just have to pay The price and that’s not right.
Everyone deserves to be treated with respect.and not taken advantage of.
So after saying all of that I will say that there is always a way to make things right and move forward. This is business and not personal, because Life is too short and salon experience overall has been great. And I would know because I’ve spent many hours there!
So I will continue to go to this salon because everything minus that one unfortunate incident with the manager, has been awesome.
The other stylists are amazing and so friendly that it makes the salon have such a good vibe to it!
Kelsey is a rockstar and she’s going big places, but hopefully not too soon.
Also I appreciate you ladies letting my little girl run around, and being understanding to her two year old shenanigans, truly.

This salon is amazing. I searched a lot for a good salon for my new haircut, because I had terrible experience last time I cut my hair. Most of the time I could not get what I was looking for a new haircut for my curly hair. So most of the time I was afraid to go to a salon even though I really want to get a new haircut. This time I did my research and finally found My salon and spa! And I was right and I was lucky to found this awesome salon.
My hair stylist was Megan and I told her what I really wanted for my curly hair.she did exactly what I asked. She did great job! She cut my hair the way I really wanted. My hair is beautiful and my curls are super amazing! I am really happy with my new haircut and also I am very happy because now I know where should I to go for new haircut. Thank you very much Megan for giving me beautiful haircut.

If your looking for a friendly reliable and knowledgable stylist you’ll find them here! I had Abi style my hair and I was 100% satisfied! She asked questions and helped point me in the direction for products specific to keeping up my hair! I will be returning to her! Highly recommend!

I visited My Salon for the first time yesterday for a cut and color with Abi. For years I struggled to find a stylist to do my hair right and actually be happy with it. I am absolutely in LOVE with my new hair! I finally found my salon!:)

10/10. Abi is the greatest stylist! She brightened up my balyage and it looks flawless. Beautiful salon, highly recommend.

Abi is AMAZING! I have naturally curly hair and she does a great job cutting styling and recommending products to keep my hair under control! I drive an hour to get my hair cut and she is definitely worth every mile! Thanks Abi.

Great customer service and finally found a stylist who could get my hair right, love Megan and her salon!

When I moved here it took me a while to find Meagan. I am so happy that I did. She called my old stylist in NC. She fixed the disaster that I experienced at another salon here. She is exceptional. She always makes sure I am happy and has gone above and beyond my expectations. All of the employees at My Salon are wonderful.

Roslyn a stylist there did a great job cutting my hair as well as washing it. Emily did a great job giving me a facial, so calm and comfortable.

Hannah is amazing! I'm more of the "I trust your decision" kind of person when it comes to my hair, and she did great! I trust her completely to take care of my head, and beard, from here on out. Hands down the best service I've gotten in Ames! 10/10 would recomend.

Hannah Saltzman is awesome! She always takes her time, and makes sure to give you the best haircut while listening to what you want. She is always a pleasure to talk to and has tons of funny stories. Would highly recommend for anyone looking for a quality haircut by someone who cares about her craft.

Megan does a wonderful job of highlighting and cutting my hair. The entire experience is very relaxing. Recently she put extensions in my daughter’s hair and they are so pretty! I would recommend a visit to My Salon to anyone who wants a personal, luxurious experience and great results.

Had Emily K for a wax the experience was awesome, good conversation, and she's really quick and efficient definitely recommend her to everyone!

I got my first wax done here before I went on a cruise and it was clean, fast, and professional. 10/10 recommend my salon in Ames! Waxing sometimes can be miserable, painful, and embarrassing. It went super quick, didn’t hurt, and I didn’t feel anxious or embarrassed! The girl was so nice and easy going. Super great experience and would go back again!

Beth is amazing for waxing. She's careful and makes the whole procedure easy and less painful. Will definitely reccomend her and return here. Note: they also have great rates for students.
