17Regardless if the airport, I am always met with a smile when picking up the keys to my vehicle at National!
An unsual negative experience with National. They were low on midsize cars and found me a car from Enterprise. Car was old, 30,000 miles and smelled like a smoker had been driving previously and they tried to mask it with air fresheners.
There was a line upon arrival but staff working was super friendly and accommodating. Check in at return had very friendly staff as well.
Very friendly, quick service, exceptionably clean car. Very low miles and nearly new car. Return was very fast and easy. Price was as initially quoted.
Unfortunately a disappointing experience at DSM National Car Rental. The rental counter for National was closed and I was required to use the Alamo counter. The customer service representative refused to honor an upgrade for Executive Elite status. I was told the car I requested was in a premium category which I find hard to believe since my previous reservation at DSM was a BMW X5 with the exact same reservation class. It is unfortunate when a regional airport is unable to live up to the expectations of the National brand.
The representative took extra measures to ensure I received the appropriate safe vehicle for my use, with a functioning GPS /Navigation system. My job requires I travel to many remote destinations, and I am lost without navigation. The representative went out in the cold to check the vehicle personally.
Usually I have experienced great service with National. HOWEVER, Des Moines Idaho airport has changed my experience. No secure parking area for rentals which means the benefits of being an Emerald member mean NOTHING when it comes to skipping the line. Prepare yourself for lengthy wait!
The same friendly service I've come to expect from National. Emma was awesome and helped me select the vehicle that was right for me. No Emerald Aisle but they are at the mercy of a poorly designed airport.
I've been using National for almost 5 years now for company travel. I have never had any issues with them, they're wonderful. In fact, I tell everyone about them and they have become my go-to for personal travel as well. Thank you for all you do!
Can't beat bypassing the counter and picking out your vehicle. Vehicles are always clean, reliable and low miles. No surprises, no stress. Drop off takes about 3 seconds
National Car is very service oriented and this rental was no exception. The GMC SUV was very comfortable and had good gas mileage. The storage capacity was also good. We drove the vehicle for over 3000 miles with no issues at all.
Excellent, attentive staff. Delaney was fantastic to deal with. Only 4 stars as the car I rented wasn't the cleanest and smelled strongly of smoke. Another customer was in line behind me because the car she was given still had trash in it. Overall, a the staff and pick up and return made it a good experience.
Kate went above and beyond to help me coordinate a car rental with my daughter who was stranded in O'Hare and needed to drive to Des Moines. Very happy with service.
Been in and out of Des Moines a few times to see my kids. Even though there's no select lines like other locations. The guys try to let me chose a vehicle when available. Last trip Evan on the front desk and Nathan who took the car from me both were super nice and professional. Thanks
Disappointing. I'm an Emerald member, showed up to Des Moines airport after a delayed flight, no agents, no available car - I made the reservation weeks in advanced. What should have been a simple pickup, turned into a long wait, expensive car share ride.no communication from National. Feels like a Seinfeld episode - you know how to take the reservation, you don't know how to hold the reservation.
Had a reservation but when I arrived they said there was a 30 minute wait for cars to become available.
Wasted hours when my receipt was not processed and returned via email. Got a notice that my rental period was ending after returning the car 3 hours earlier.
Had a similar issue with Hertz, where they extend the rental beyond the return date and time, causing additional charges that you will not see til hours or days later.
ALWAYS ASK FOR A PRINTED RECEIPT WHEN RETURNING YOUR CAR.
