New Pioneer Food Co-op reviews
15Local hippy grocery store. All natural, organic, locally grown, vegan, etc.options are abundant. Popular brands of household products as you would find at Walmart or Target are not available, only organic/local/etc brands. Speciality foreign foods also available, such as European cheeses and wines and pre-prepared Asian-style dishes like sushi. For example, this is the only place I could find edamame & edible bugs downtown. Prices are high, products are reliably of high quality. I recommend primarily patronizing for fresh produce, as the higher prices are the most worth it for these high-quality products, generally. Very clean and organized store and helpful employees. Patronage is primarily democrat/left-leaning upper middle class and wealthy Iowa City citizens. Staff is mostly middle class 20-somethings. Debit card preferred over credit, but accepting all forms of payment. Paper bags only. An ATM is located here.
The Co-op has by far the freshest selection of products in town. You can't go wrong and you definitely get what you pay for.
Thanks!
Wish they had bulk spices. Needed baking soda and I think $3.99 for baking soda is ridiculous to pay for it when you get it at Hy-Vee for $1.50 or less.
The people who work here are by far the happiest grocery store employees I've ever seen. Always really nice and polite, always have something really cool to show me. + It's a coop so it's just that much cooler.
I'd rate this 6/5 if I could.
Best place for local produce & goods. Also have almost anything else you might need, at a decent price, but just a smaller selection. The staff is always friendly & helpful!
Great experience with unique grocery items and a huge selection of organic produce. The employees are very helpful.
Still the best co-op ever, IMO. I should probably bring an empty suitcase to stock up next time I'm in town.
I have always loved this place for it's uniqueness but, as with most healthy options, it's a lil expensive and the selection was kinda sparce but still a wonderful place.
I like new Pioneer Co-op because I can get the supplements there that I can't get anywhere else.
Incredibly helpful & knowledgable staff with the biggest selection that I have seen compared to other co-ops!
Great selection of vegan, vegetarian, and organic food. Helpful, friendly employees. Best place in town for produce.
Good, quality food for a high price! Lots of local things so it’s good to support them. Eccentric staff to say the least
A grocery store with organic foods and other stuff, with a selection of bread, wine. A kind of European supermarket.
I love this place! First time there today and what a wonderful place to have in this community.
