If you care about your child DO NOT SEND THEM HERE. Was there for 9 months when I was a sophomore in high school. Came back so far behind in school I almost didn’t graduate. I had 2 staff that actually cared about me. Because they couldn’t keep good staff. Was put on crazy amounts of lithium as a 15 year old child. Came out with more trauma on top of my existing trauma. I had trouble with isolation and for punishment they would give you “time” which was literally making you stay in ur room for however long they decided. You couldn’t sleep during your time and you could only leave to go to the bathroom or shower. They did not help me work through any of the issues I came in with if anything they made it harder then threw me back into school.

As a former resident of Orchard Place (for about 8 months December 18th, 2019 - September 27th, 2020) I can gladly say it saved my life. I went in with extremely severe Depression, Anxiety, Drug issues, Suicidal ideations and Anger issues. I left not perfect and totally cured but I left knowing how to regulate my emotions and actually deal with them the proper way instead of doing something risky that could hurt me.

I will not lie being there as a resident isn't the best time and it can for sure be straining but at the end of the day its worth it. I would say Orchard Place isn't for everyone however as it after all you are away from home and can for sure be scary to be there. It took me a month to actually feel okay with being there and actually start to open up which unsurprisingly is quite normal.
Along with all of this you as a resident have to be willing to put in the effort and work to actually change. They wont do it for you. You have to do it yourself with guided help

I stayed in Unit 4 of Bright house which is towards the back end side of the campus. I was a student of Mr. Kox (who I hope is still there) who was genuinely one of the best teachers I have had in my life time. Might I add that the schooling there at Orchard Place is so much better then normal schools given it gives you that pace you actually need and its actually fun and enjoyable.

There are not many cons to Orchard Place other then your fellow residents given they are there for probably the same reason you are. The staff are great and genuinely care about you and your well being. The Therapist and Psychiatrist work with you on your medication and keep you in the loop and make sure all is well. The only real con is the Beds and the Sleep Routine but that's more because I like real comfy beds and only sleep about 4-5 hours and wake up at 4: 30am everyday for work.

As of now I'm 20 years old, with a job I love, a person who loves and cares for me, and can function normally and would not at all be where I am today without my time at Orchard Place.

From the bottom of my heart a huge thank you to everybody in Bright House Unit 4 Team, The Orchard Place Staff, and Orchard Place School System.

First of all, do not listen to the negative reviews. This place helped me more than anyone else has. The staff here are AMAZING and want nothing but the best for you. I just left OP today and I miss all the staff so much. Please consider this review when you decide to send your child here, you will not regret it. Also, I'd like to shout out Gabe D, Samantha S, Chloe B, and all of Jacobson house staff in general.they really do care here.

I’m going to be 100% honest here. Orchard place helped me a lot I was there for three months and I am now a success story, for all the parents saying that orchard place didn’t help their kid, your kid also has to do the work as well. Believe me I was a high risk Situation and the reason I was sent there was because I needed the help, and I also had to put in work to be where I’m at now so it’s not always only orchard places faul, and it’s definitely not easy, I had to learn and effectively use what they taught me that’s how I got through it was the determination I had all the way through. And (it also depends on the house, Jacobson was where I was housed and tbh I saw the other Houses and how they handled their kids and I think I would probably still be there if I wasn’t in Jacobson.) I arrived on April 9th 2021 and I left July 30th 2021.

Horrific place to send your child. My son came in dealing with a bad bout of depression and came out worse with trauma. The workers there didnt seem to care and the facilities are disgusting and worn out, essentially unlivable conditions. The therapists lack compassion and will push medicines constantly without telling you the side effects and dangers of taking them. Thankfully my son is doing better than ever, I suggest you reconsider bringing your child here as you may regret it later.

I went to OP for 6 months, it was not helpful at all i left worse than when i came in it was terrible the staff were amazing but my therapist was terrible he sent me home even though he knew i wasn't ready, because he claimed i didnt try hard enough to get better. Definitely would not recommend sendinf your kid here it does no good.

My daughter went here after months of struggling emotionally. She was there 5 months and was sent home worse than the day I took her. They got absolutely nowhere with her. Told us they were there for us even after discharge.they won't answer any emails, and didn't even bother to send her home doctors or therapist any of her records. So very disappointed! Left us with more questions than answers and nowhere else to turn for help!
