Planet Fitness, West Des Moines IA

Been living in Colorado so haven't been to this location in 5+ years since I used to live here. Could barely remember it but man, is the weight room cramped with weights and people getting in your way. It was also so hot with no fans. Yucky.

3.5 stars for this gym.
It is small, and people seemed to be cramped on top of each other. It was very warm over by the free weights, maybe a fan is needed to move the air. The black card spa is dated, but efficient. The locker room was ok, a little dirty, needs some attention, and someone left a bunch of stuff in one of the changing stalls. Staff was friendly!

I am currently the most consistently active I have been since pre-pandemic. Great staff and great equipment make that easier.

5-5-2023 - Nobody to open the gym. 15+ people had to turn around and go back home. This COMPLETELY RUINS MY DAY. Thanks Planet Fitness. Zero stars. I have called MULTIPLE times FOR MONTHS, and NOTHING happens.

The one on Grand doesnt clean very well. They dont even check on the tanning booths between uses.

Visit 2-3 times a week throughout the year. Some hours are busier than others, but usually can get right in for a treadmill, elliptical and/or weight machine. Very friendly and helpful staff.

I've been to a lot of Planets and this one is a very solid location. The only downside is that there is a BBQ joint basically next door that smokes their meats in the parking lot. Rude lol!

Love this place! Always clean with friendly staff. They have a great personal trainer too! Who knew for such a low price you really can have it all. They recently got a new hydrotherapy bed and it is top of the line! I love that I can knock out cardio, upper AND lower body with the choice of machines or free weights. 10/10 would recommend

I came in as a guest and was immediately greeted by Cody! Now, I’ve been to a lot of gyms and I was only here to work out with a friend, but Cody made the experience so welcoming and pleasant. When I had questions he answered them, and he even detailed the perks and such. Because of that, I scheduled to start a membership this Friday! Thanks Cody for making this such a positive pleasant experience!

Clean gym, friendly staff, John the trainer is knowledgable and helpful I definitely reccomend him to anybody that joins up.

I came in July 20th to cancel my membership and was walked through the process. I assumed all was good and went on about my life until I got charged for another month of use afterwards. I called and was not helped much by an employee. I assume the employee told the manager and the manager (Quinton) actually called me and refunded me back to my last check in! 1000% thrilled with the customer service from him and happy that someone offered help!

My card kept getting charged twice and the manager was very kind about it and fixed the issue, even tried to get me the nicest tanning bed out of courtesy haha, and kind and patient staff!

It's too small as it is now you let a bunch of kids come in hangout, play around, sit on equipment playing on their phones. I'd rather pay $60 a month for the YMCA than to try to get my workout in @ a teen hangout. I WONT BE RENEWING

Over crowded and not very nice members there. I have to wait for like 30 to 60 minutes to get to a bench press also can't get a spotter when need one. Ask someone and they'll say no.

It is a very clean gem, I just cannot stand the color scheme, how it is so overly crowded, maybe the planet fitness gyms should be bigger

I am perfectly satisfied with this fitness center. My trainer, John, motivates our small class of 60-somethings. The machines are clean, and the illustrations are so clear that I can always figure out how they work and staff are nearby to help in any way. The best part is, I can work at my own level, so I don’t dread workouts. The manager, Jeremy, runs a great gym and I’m happy I found it.

This gym is usually pretty good. Lately they have had staff show up late or there isn't any staff. So you can't tan or by drinks.

I like working out here but they don't uphold any of their rules. Completely jacked people, slamming weights, people in jeans and work boots, women basically in underwear smaller than what they would wear anywhere else and best of all these tend to be the same people who never wipe anything down. Staff has clearly no intent of saying anything ever

Facility is very nice and the staff are very helpful in do a good job of keeping everything stocked, but are you guys ever going to go back to the 24 hours at least Monday through Friday till 9: 00 p.m. Because you guys are the only location in the area that doesn't even do that?
