Quality Inn Indianola

I am an avid traveler for business and book with Choice often due to the convenience. This hotel is one that I would never visit again The room that I booked had a musky odor, similar to someone's old sweaty clothes just airing in the room. Once I told the front desk about this someone came and spayed the equivalent of Febreeze in the room but did nothing for the odor. I asked to be moved to another room but there were none available. I informed them that I could not stay in the room and wanted to check out. I was told I would still be charged for 3 nights for the cancelation. That I couldn’t be checked out before the nightly audit for some reason and ended up being charged an additional cancelation fee on top of the room rate. I can’t expect that all the rooms across all my stays are going to be perfect but I do expect to be treated as a valued customer when there is an issue outside of my doing that needs to be resolved. This experience left me feeling that the nightly rate was of more value than anything else. The musky room is excusable but the manner in which the situation was handled was not.

Bed was clean and comfortable, location was convenient for our purposes. Carpet in room was sticky, ugh! Door handle came off. Shower handle leaked. I would hate to be stuck in the room for an extended period.

Very Rude Staff. Told grand daughter she had to settle down with in the 1st 5 min. TV did not work in our room. Floor was sticky. Pool closes at 10 pm, was 6 minutes til closing and the staff member turn the light off on our grandbabies still in the pool as well as the other guest's kids. Breakfast was disgusting. Will not be back.

I payed $144 for one night stay with a king bed. The toilet was cracked. When I called the front desk for more toilet paper I was rudely told to “well come get it yourself”.

We stayed here Thursday night - Monday morning. Friday morning I woke up with a really itchy welt on my right forearm. Thinking nothing of it—probably a spider. I went about my day and my stay. Saturday morning I woke up with 3 additional marks and I noticed they are in rows—three in a row on my toes, three in a row on my forearm, two in a row on my right shoulder blade & left shoulder blade. Then I’m like hmmm bed bugs? I checked the entire mattress and informed the front desk that I had found eggs and my partner found a bug. They moved us from room 119 to 112. I isolated all my belongings that came in contact with the floor/bed in trash bags and showered in the new room. Monday morning I have even more marks in my left arm. I immediately inform the front desk, this time she was the manager. Since check out was that day we had already opted to sacrifice a carry on bag with contaminated items before management offered to tumble dry our belongings as they said heat kills them. Since we had to be out shortly with no additional resolve we declined. Staff is super nice but this incident was enough to not revisit. Also pool is indoor but is not heated.

This facility does NOT have an elevator! Beware when booking your room if that is an issue. Breakfast is basically non existent and not up to the standard Quality Inn offerings. Room is clean and comfortable Simple facility but fair for the price.

Check-in staff were super great after I totally screwed up our reservation. The pool is a nice size and the kids reported it was pretty warm (especially for the end of December!).

I stay here almost every week. The staff is the best part of the hotel. They always have a smile and a worm welcome "Hello".

But, for the price. You can't beat it.

We walked into the room and the deadbolt fell off. There was holes in the walls and bathroom door. It looked like the door had been kicked in. There was cracks in the walls. There was also no screen on the windows. Don’t forget there’s no elevator or anything for wheelchair access. The safe was also very rude and lazy.

I stopped by to check on rates. The front desk person was on her cellphone and looked annoyed that she had to hang up and do her job. The hotel itself was just ordinary needs some updating. The maintenance person was very pleasant the only person who cared to answer question.
The manager needs to wake up and pay attention to the reviews they get.

Room was fairly clean. But it smelt like pee and the carpet had a film to it. I made my kids keep there shoes on. The breakfast was slim pickings and the price of the hotel was to high but it was storming really bad and needed a place to rest our heads. Won't stay there again though!

We spent 5 nights and did not have maid service even once. We had to go to the front desk and ask for fresh towels. The front desk staff is terrible. The hotel business is in the hospitality and service industry but not a single employee seems to understand this. The breakfast is among the worst we've experienced. The bed and pillows are terrible. This is the only hotel we have stayed that did not have a guest laundry room. The overall experience was extremely poor. We come to this area once or twice a year to visit family. We stayed here because they allowed pets. The additional drive to Des Moines will be worth the cost and effort versus staying here. We will not be back.

The check-in staff were pleasant, especially given the difficult patron in from of me. However, there are other issues which cannot be ignored. First, the bathtub couldn’t be plugged. This isn’t a problem unless you have small kids like us. We ended up using a plastic cup as the front desk staff didn’t know that there wasn’t a plug included with the hardware. Second, the morning staff had zero cares about anything to do with their job. The juice machine was out of apple juice and the coffee maker was out of order. Additionally, the pool is supposed to open at 7 and when my wife and son went to use the pool at 7: 10, it was locked. When they asked the staff to open the pool they mentioned it didn’t open till 7 and then begrudgingly went to turn it on when my wife mentioned the actual time. Unfortunately, they kept it closed because the chemicals weren’t normal, which I do appreciate the fact they at least checked. However, you’d think this would be on their to do list before the pool officially opened. Finally, they entire place felt like it had a layer of filth on it. Not a “normal” amount. It was a clear indication that multiple people weren’t doing their jobs. Based on the other recent reviews, it’s clear the management doesn’t care about their dwindling rating. Even though their responses might suggest otherwise, they truly don’t care.

First room had not been cleaned. Returned to the desk she gave us a new room said they have a bad cleaning lady. Overload of carpet fresh hard to breath. Bath towels r just a bit bigger than hand towels. Great location.

Asked to have room turned down. Trash taken out and dirty towels removed. Came back Saturday night and house keeping never touched our room. Hallway was filled with dirty towels and trash. Since housekeeping didn't do anything. Breakfast was awful. Fruit was old and nasty. Wasn't fresh at all. I know it's a complementary breakfast. But at least have fresh stuff out for your paying customers. Staff needs retrained. I don't recommend this hotel. Find somewhere else to stay. Even if it's a few bucks more. This hotel besides the pool. Was such a let down.

Took 3 calls to get them to answer the phone when trying to reserve a room. The place was run down. First thing I noticed when walking into our room was the floors were not vacuumed. Hair in the shower, ceiling tiles had dirty water spots from something upstairs leaking, cracks in the shower wall, missing lock on the door to our room. There was a missing ceiling tile in the hall with exposed wires hanging out. The pool was filthy and the floor was slimy and gross. Looks like it hasn't been cleaned in weeks. Oh, our remote had duct tape on the back holding the batteries in place.

I had their suite with the King sized bed and the hot tub. It wasn't to awfully expensive. And if you need something like extra towels or coffee for the room they will make sure you get it. They also have a good selection for breakfast.

The pool was closed, we had 3 grandkids with us. Clean from a distance. Morning desk clerk was griping to another worker the entire time we were at breakfast. When it was mentioned we could all hear then, they didn't care. Don't stay for the free breakfast, trust me. Lastly, if you're a light sleeper, stay in a room not facing the highway. Trucks downshifting all night long. If you just need a cheap room, this may be an option

I have nothing bad to say about our visit here. The room was clean and the staff was friendly. The location was perfect for our visit to Simpson College, the campus was only a few minutes away.
