Renaissance Faire at Sleepy Hollow, Des Moines IA

My very first Ren Faire, I absolutely loved every minute there. There was so much to see, do and buy and I had a blast!

The food vendors need to take cards, too (some at least). I spent 15 minutes in line before I got close enough to see the cash-only signs, and then I had to wait another 20 minutes in line at the ATM. THEN back to the food lines to wait some more.

Always an adventure! Small enough to be able to see everything in a day, awesome enough to visit all weekend.

The food and drink vendors at the fair were obviously unprepared this year. Food lines 2 hours long all day long. Most vendors ran out of food and drink. I would recommend bringing your own food and drink when attending this faire.

Love the entertainment, costumes, vendors, venue, etc. I have 2 suggestions: have more food & beverage vendors open during R. A. D. & have water stations. The line to get a drink at R. A D.was extremely long, and all I needed was water.

Go here for the Renaissance faire, and it's always and experience, you can buy swords and armor. Fun stuff like bottles of mead, or root beer. And there is always a decent selection of food.

Always a wonderful time, acceptance and camaraderie are free flowing. Amazing acts, performers and interactions with everyone. A variety of unique shops, blacksmithing, leatherworking, foods, jousting and pirate cove. Our family's favorite events are these Ren Faires!
One tentatively potential negative is that the new management was occasionally rude to patrons, and more strict rules. We will see if it works the kinks out or what.

Omg. 1 place to buy beer. 2 people working the counter. Lines over 100 people deep. Come on. Not blaming the vendors. But whoever but this together. Please for love of God. Go to Huntersville NC, or Magnolia TX, hell, Go up to Minneapolis so you don't have to drive far and figure it out. We paid for the VIP and night show. Needless to say we said Screw this. We can enjoy beer at home. So screw the hotel room and screw Des Moines Ren faire. Good luck in the future. But can't take this much failure. I'll pray for you from my kayak on the river tomorrow.

Went to the spring fling and the parking was so unorganized. There was no signage or arrows pointing to park or pay, so people were breaking free from the line to find a parking spot. Seemed pretty reasonable to me. NOPE! The parking attendants directing traffic far upfront was screaming and yelling at people. It was so embarrassing and unnecessary. My advice for the organization, have people pay as they are coming in at the front, not as they parking, and then have people directing traffic, so no one is confused about how to park.

This was our first time attending. We loved every minute of this weekend! We camped on the grounds, so we didn't have to go home until the end. Definitely going back again next year!:)

We attended the one weekend only Spring Fling. This was a nice surprise, we have spent years in Tx at the really big faires, and got spoiled, so we didn't expect too much.it was a nice surprise. Had a bottle of mead and sausages, a few entertainers, and lots of wares being sold.an overall pleasant experience, can't wait to experience the full faire later in the year. Wasn't prepared for the cash only situation, so it did limit our shopping, so be prepared, they have ATMs but there was a very long line to use them, I also suggest buying your tickets in advance, I tried but, the website was not working properly at the time and parking was also cash only, thankfully a very kind couple were passing by and paid our way in. Thank you to them!

Always have a blast at Faire. All the character actors always interact amazingly with the kids and crowd, always something kid friendly going on and your warned well in advance if an act isn't kid friendly.

I went there about a year ago amazing would go again just wondering is there a renaissance fair every Saturday and Sunday?

Great place to visit, vendors are polite and welcoming. Good food, had a great time. I will go back

Great entertainment, food, vendors, and atmosphere! We have went twice to this and it was so much fun each time. I highly recommend this for anyone who likes "old timey stuff"!

The faire was great we really loved the Birds of prey demonstration, but the parking is why you get 2 stars horrible.

Love going to this, had to miss last year with covid, but me and my family dress up & have a blast

We always have a great time. Our 3rd year here and there were more things to see and do this year.

Wonderful Ren Fest! We had a great time here despite the rain. Good food, great entertainers, and nice atmosphere. Will have to come back next year to see all of it. Juggling Geoff was really really good. Hope to see him next year.:)
