Rolling Wok Cafe reviews
17 Loved the vegetarian Pho. Seasoned very well!
The Thai iced tea was perfect.
Friendly staff.
They are authentic and local owned serving up all kinds of oriental foods. My go to is the Pho. I ask for mine without the rice noodles only to make it no carb. They even do carry out.
Quaint, casual dining area. Food was great, not super Americanized though- so picky eaters looking for chicken nuggets in soy sauce might be hard to please.
Pad Thai was excellent. Pho special was amazing (steak, meatball, brisket). Hot and sour soup amazing, even for some less cultured folks.
Sesame chicken was a little bland, but I think it's generally meant for picky eaters anyways.
Good food. Staff were friendly. It's pricier than I remember. The food was delicious, but the portion was rather small. It's lunch but after the meal I was still hungry. They used to have big servings, but it's been awhile since I've been back. However, I recommend it for the friendly staff and clean eaterie.
We loved their pho, Panang curry and spring rolls! Our server was amazing and appreciate the service!
Ordered ribblets don't know why dry hard as a rock. You would think they would be Asian style ribs nothing but dried up ribs
Young teenage girl working there was rude. Wont be returning
I was only in Des Moines for one night and was craving Chinese food. Since I was traveling, I played it safe with chicken fried rice. It was easily the best I've ever had. The waiter was very friendly and attentive. Service was fast. I would definitely come back here the next time I'm in Des Moines.
Confused by my experience just like other low scores here. Ordered vegetable spring rolls but got shrimp (was replaced with no emotion after I found someone at the counter, but read on.), inquired for vegetable broth, got fish instead. No apology or notice for either, nothing. No silverware or napkins was brought before or after food was served, so we looked around after while & grabbed chopsticks we found, so shared those. No napkins still, so I asked again at the counter, to be told they "might not have any" - Never got a return checkup like, "I'm sorry we're out" or anything, simply kept chatting with the 1 other table during our visit, then even moved around table items on other empty tables. Not once was our table checked on. Had to go to the restroom for my family to get paper towels for napkins. If I was working, I would have been embarrassed, but AT LEAST would have done that immediately for guests.no greeting, not a thank you for coming when paid and tipped, not a slight sorry for the wrong food. Undercooked food. I'll stop there. Very disappointing. Very confused. Will not return.
I ordered angry catfish with 3 flavor sauce and papaya salad with chicken wings combo. (Both items at level 4 spicy). They forgot my sticky rice but everything else was present. The flavorings is on point with the fish and chicken both extra crispy. The papaya has the expected funky scent but is not off-putting. Everything was delicious. Prices were lightly higher than expectation, but I think it aligns with the current environment so I can’t complain too much.
Loved the seafood phó. The broth was absolutely delicious came with a green plate, full of bean sprouts, limes, and green leaves. Very small space, so it was more intimate. Server was distracted, but meant well, so 11/10, not her fault lol. Egg rolls were awesome
Food is alright, but be prepared to pay extra for steamed rice despite the meals being 13.50 at least, and then they charge a 4% charge for using a debit card.
Soups, rice and noodles dishes are very tasty. I’ve sampled most and have not been disappointed. Spring rolls are fresh and delicious.
I used to absolutely love this place, but it's been a while since I have been there, and this visit was awful. Ordered generals chicken, and they used like banquet chicken nuggets, the texture was disgusting. Now the egg rolls were still as amazing as they always have been. I really hope that the awful main dish that I got is only a temporary problem, maybe covid related. Because I have loved this place for a long time, and this is not the food I remember
I will admit that this is an above-average place which I'm not used to for this level of cuisine. Which means that I was not educated enough to accurately process the menu. But the food was really good and the service was above was really good and friendly.
Not good service
Small portion for the price pay $10.99 for noodles Plus $3.50 for meat, order vegetable egg rolls supposed 4 piece end up with 2 pieces
I am so disappointed as I used to mice this place. I came in today, first time since pandemic began. I arrived at 12: 03. There were three other tables sat, a total of 11 people in all (myself included.). I offered at 12: 08. At 12: 39 my food came and it was not correct at all. I was told they’ll make again and it dill be at least 20 minutes because of to go orders. I said no, I have a 1 pm appointment. He then said to me that I can take the order to go but I must pay first. I said no. Cancel my order. He said my choices were to pay and take the food to go or leave and don’t come back. Well…looks like I won’t be going back to Rolling Wok ever again.
I came in that place and I had the pho special Absolutely delicious and I had their pot stickers and I in my opinion that the best pot sticker in the city And the place was clean it had cheerful people in there everyone was having a good time I recommend it for everyone
