Recently had Schaal do A/C and furnace replacement. The pre-install consultation was very informative. The install crew were professional, friendly, efficient and thorough.

When my hot water heater stopped working, called my normal service provider (they installed the water heater when the house was built a few years ago) but they weren’t very willing to help and said best they could do would be almost a week out as they primarily focus on commercial now. I ended up googling and called Schaal. Emily (I believe that was her name) was lovely and empathetic to the situation and made sure i was informed of timing and on the on call list for service ASAP. Jonathan arrived to check it out later that same day and he was super kind, friendly and respectful. He did a great job explaining to me what he found with photos, options and what he would do if this were his situation. Appreciated his candor, honesty and integrity. I didn’t feel sold, I felt advised and that is always the difference. Will definitely call Schaal and request Jonathan for my ongoing service.

We had a new furnace & heatpump installed in Dec. 2023 by Schaal. Techs Benton Frey & Matthias Funk did the installation. Went very smoothly without any problems. Took about 4-5 hrs.
They laid down floor covering to get to the basement.
They had pulled permits and the local city inspector came when they were finished and it checked out OK. We are very happy with the professional workmanship displayed by these two gentlemen.

Marcus and Dain installed a new system for us. They were on time, friendly & professional, quick (installed took 2 hours less than quoted), and stress free. They weren’t afraid to put in a little extra work to make sure everything was installed correctly.

The techs are always very nice and easy to talk with. They know what they are doing and explain things in a way that I understand.

Kyle was respectful, knowledgeable, and very nice. He asked questions and also explained what he did. He was quite delightful and even put show covers on. I am very happy with him and the service I received.

Had Schaal repair our water heater, after a couple hours and replacement of numerous parts it was determined that a different issue was likely the cause. While replacing a part the technician broke a wire that took 2 days to get and then came back to replace it and fix the actual problem. So we had to pay labor to replace a bunch of stuff unnecessarily and then to fix the actual issue meanwhile we didn’t have hot water for the better part of a week. I reached out to Schaal multiple times trying to get ahold of someone to at least explain what happened (not complain about paying too much) but no one ever calls me back.

Edit don’t ever use this company. They have improperly installed my system I have water building up in the pipes from improper venting. When I called to have a technician out the extremely rude woman on the phone proceeded to notify me that they intended to charge me a 99 dollar service fee even though not only should my system be covered under warranty as it was installed in July 23. But I am also supposedly a member of their preferred maintenance program that as I was told when purchasing would waive their diagnostic fees and other trip charges. This plan would cost 29 dollars a month after the free year and they still expect me to pay for improperly installed equipment. I suppose I’m supposed to be ok with my furnace shutting down this winter when the water freezes inside the pipes and we’ll just freeze. I intend to also report this fraudulent activity to the better business bureau and Iowa attorney general office. Use at your own risk. As an electrician I can only imagine how much they’d charge to come fix their mistakes even if deadly.

Benton and his helper showed up promptly at 8 am and had us back up and running by 2pm. Couldn't be happier with the quality of the installation. Everything looks great and less than an hour later my home is comfortable again.

Drake Hansen came to the house for annual maintenance of the furnace. He did a great job, and is a very kind and considerate young man. Hope we can have him back for our annual air conditioning check in the spring. Keep up the good work Drake.

Kristel Van provided our yearly furnace service check. We have a whole house humidifier that she found a problem with and fixed it. She was easy to talk to, answered all our questions and explained what to expect with the humidity. I would love to have her for all our furnace service.
