Somerset Veterinary Hospital reviews
13They care so much about your fur babies.called and checked in with us a few time to make sure Cleo was feeling better
I always love every interaction with this clinic. I wholeheartedly trust them with my animals’ lives. Dr. Crane has been amazing for our dogs while she was on maternity leave (CONGRATS!) the clinic lined us up with another vet who was also awesome!
I came in last minute and even with no money in hand, they still seen my cat Gracie and did as much as they could pro bono. Sadly, she passed away 4 nights ago, though.
Hannah and Dr. Lindgren took great care of my cat and I. The whole experience from scheduling my appointment (while freaking out about my cat) to the end of the visit was spectacular. The receptionist was kind when checking me in and that same energy translated through the rest of our appointment. I will be bringing my cat back for all of her vet needs!
The staff is so friendly and doctors are excellent. I love their hours. It is so convenient.
Dr. Flaming and Dr. Gubbels have taken care of all of our dogs since we moved to Ames in 2017. Not only are they great veterinarians but fantastic people. Everyone is always very friendly and we feel confident whenever we bring them to Somerset Veterinary Hospital.
We LOVE Somerset Vet! We’ve taken our pup there since we brought her home in 2021 and they have been so great. Staff is extremely friendly and is great at answering questions. The vets are so gentle with animals. Our dog honestly gets excited to go see everyone when she goes for her checkups. You will not find a better vet in the Ames area.
I’ve been taking my dog here for over a year (since I moved to Ames for college), otherwise he goes to the vet in my home town. My first couple experiences at their old location were good, but I have not been impressed since they’ve moved. We’ve seen a new doctor since the move and I do not feel that there is genuine care or concern for my pet when I come here. My dog is very untrusting of the Dr, so much so that he will not even be distracted by spray cheese to get a shot, which is uncommon. When I get my dog into the building he is immediately shaking & waits at the door to leave while I’m at the front desk. I can’t say there’s anything specific they’ve done wrong, it’s more of a bad and uncomfortable feeling/aura/atmosphere when coming here that will lead to us looking for another vet in the area.
Somerset has been amazing to work with. They have a compassion for not only their patients but also the patients parents that I have seen no where else. Dr. Maisel is a wonderful doctor who has treated both of our cats with love, kindness and patience. Recently we made the difficult choice to say goodbye to one of our cats and she made the time for us, and spent all of the time she could going through the process of saying goodbye. She even cried with us. I'm very impressed with the Somerset family and would recommend them to anyone.
I brought my roommates cat to make sure she was up to date on vaccines as she was going to be flying. The vet looked up if I would need anything and said unless I'm traveling outside of the country I shouldn't need anything more than rabies information. She asked if I'd like her to print out a health certificate just in case. To which I said yes, why not have it. I paid the bill and gave the receipt to my roommate. I did not know that printing out something "just in case" would cost an extra $54. I called to ask and they said they cannot refund it as it's an extra exam charge. Good business practice you should be clear and upfront about prices especially any additional charges.
I took my dog to the urgent care twice in the last 3 months. Dr. Lindgren and her team are definitely the best vets I’ve ever encountered. You can just feel how much they care about your furry friends. Highly recommend!
Love Dr. Flaming. She genuinely cares about my animals and has never done an unnecessary procedure.
My dog was very sick and needed immediate help. I showed up at about 7: 30 in the morning without an appointment and asked if they could help me. The receptionist got us into a room and told us that Dr. Crane would be in soon and they would see what they could do. Next thing I knew, the doctor came into see Cai and helped us right away. She found out what was wrong and got the treatment we needed. I am so grateful for their help and for being so kind. I highly recommend Somerset Veterinary Hospital and Dr. Crane!
