Prescribed a new brand of contacts by the eye doctor after I have been happy with my current brand for years. They irritated my eye and turned it completely red. Was told I could not return the open boxes and could come in any time to exchanged the closed boxes. Came in for an exchange and had to wait, was asked for a receipt when I was told I didn't need one and was treated poorly. Terrible experience. Complete inconvenience. Never going back.

I was looking for a soft glasses case. They have them. I offered to buy/pay for it. The person there said no charge. Thank you Target Optical!

Dr Peter Thayer was excellent and efficient with the eye exam, and Ashley the assistant manager was incredibly helpful and kind with helping me choose my glasses and going through the check out process. Great staff and comfortable atmosphere for finding your best glasses at Target Optical in Ankeny!

Ashley and Ginny are AMAZING! Nice staff change since I was here a year ago! Very helpful and friendly! Don't lose these ladies!

Forgot to mention it was nice to find out YOU DO offer safety glasses, previous visits was always told no, always thought that was odd.

This is my first time using Target Optical. My first pair of lenses came back so bad from whom ever grinds the. I couldn’t even see out of them I didn’t notice till wearing them. So I took them back they upgraded me, got me knew ones. The customer service has been good. I got my new ones today When I first put them on I didn’t notice but when I got home I notice a small blur. I took a closer look and saw cracks in my lenses. I’m not sure if they were cracked being forced into the frames but I’d imagine so. I am disappointed I didn’t see it when I was there but I swear the lighting in the place hides defects. The customer service has been good. I’m gonna have to take them back yet again and see what they can do. I didn't give a 1 star because the customer service has been good, but having to take them back multiple times is just not a good experience.

For everyone that has had a bad experience the last year or two I can completely relate but suggest giving them another chance! They have new staff who is much more friendly and helpful and they are working on having more staff than just having one person previously! They were great to work with for my appointment and getting new glasses!

After almost four months, still no sign of my sunglasses. Unknown to me, the pair I picked out in store was no longer available. They just kept trying to reorder it until I asked them what was going on. They then substituted a different frame because the one they sold me was discontinued. When I got that pair, it was horrible and I couldn't see straight. I had them remake those lenses, same problem. I think they were using measurements off of the discontinued pair. I picked out a different pair and they used this as an opportunity to upcharge me. Actually they tried charging me $158 when the actual price difference was $37. After ordering this new pair, I am still waiting and they can't tell me where they are. I now leave on vacation without sunglasses. If it wasn't for already processing the insurance money, I would be long gone. Avoid if at all possible.

I have had the worst experience. I usually go to the target optical in Urbandale, but since they are under construction, I went to the one in Ankeny and that was a huge mistake. Usually my co-pays are around $15 every year so when I went for my exam, and they told me my co-pay was $120 I knew something was wrong but they assured me insurance was ran. I reached out to my employers insurance agent and they said my co-pays are only supposed to be 10% and clearly not that high so she dug deeper and found my insurance was never ran. I went back to Ankeny that night and at first they tried telling me it was because I didn't present my insurance card at time of service (I did) and then said it was something I'd have to go to insurance about. I stood my ground and they finally helped me and said they'd call me that night once it was done "processing". I never got a call. So I followed up and the women on the phone was incredibly rude trying to blame me again and then finally saying the way my insurance reads is confusing but they'll issue a refund and if there's any issues with billing they'll reach out to me. Nobody has reached out but upon checking my account I've found out that the refund has been revoked and no longer on my account. I will never again go to a target optical.

Very pleased with the hard work, expediency, and level of service provided by Jenny at Target Optical Ankeny! Jenny was extremely helpful and provided exceptional insight into the selection of glasses that I eventually selected!

My experience hasn't been great and is getting worse. The exams always go well but they seem to be short staffed, even before the pandemic.

I ordered replacement glasses on January 2nd and had to call them the last couple weeks for an update. I was told that they must not be in yet. They finally looked into it and the order never went through, so my 6 week wait is turning into a 10 week wait.

It makes me question why I pay for eye insurance when you can pay for an exam out of pocket and get glasses online much quicker and cheaper

This was the most efficient eye exam I have ever had in almost 20 years of wearing glasses/contacts. The doctor discussed AND validated my vision concerns and got my exam done in less than 30 minutes despite being very busy.

Went to go have my glasses adjusted and ended up having a really unfortunate visit. The woman helping me was really nice, but she snapped my frames in half. TWICE. So I ended up having to buy (yes, purchase) a new pair - I was told AFTER the fact that they were not liable for any damage. I was told I could glue them, but that it probably wouldn’t do much good, so it was more worth it to just buy a new pair - while this is probably true, it was just annoying. Not the end of the world, but when your glasses play a huge role in your self confidence, it’s a huge hit to watch them get snapped in half right in front of you.

I tried to be really, really nice to the lady working, but I just wanted to cry.

Ended up going to Walmart to find a pair and returning the $160 pair that was given to me at Target. I would recommend going elsewhere.

Customer services is lacking! When they answer the phone They make you sound like you're an inconvenience for wondering where your order is. Person in front is rude and snarky.

Dr Thayer is absolutely wonderful for kids and adults. The front desk Jenny is equally wonderful and an extremely hard worker!
