The Beancounter Coffeehouse & Drinkery, Burlington IA

As we sit here, we've waited 20 minutes for one drink that we were told that was started and stopped.
Waited another 10 minutes as they forgot to make the 2nd drink.
The young lady that came in at 11 was thrown under the bus by the 2 existing employees. They told her that they were not making drinks and that she had to catch up on the orders.
We were not the only people who had long waits and were upset.
Was going to spend more money, but nit now.
Our last experience was great. That was around 2 years ago and we met the owner then.
Sorry to leave this review, but it needed to be mentioned.

Great cappuccino, frittata and fresh fruit. Friendly staff. Comfortable environment and sitting. I will be a regular.

Our iced lattes were very warm, almost hot. All of the ice had melted. I asked for more ice, but the quality was still poor. The tied straw is very cute, but not functional as you can't drink through it. Food and pastries were pretty good! Friendly service and adorable atmosphere, I'd try again with a hot coffee beverage.

Kicked up Grilled Cheese is hands down the best grilled cheese I have ever had! The Wasabi Tun Melt was equally fantastic!

Great service! Good strong coffee! And made my bday better because the gal remembered my order from 2 weeks before!

Don’t let the name fool you, this place also has an extensive food menu! We came in with a large group and every single person at the table LOVED their food. I haven’t stopped thinking about their buffalo chicken flatbread pizza! Next time I’m in Burlington, I will most definitely be stopping here! Not to mention, they handled our large group very well and all of our food orders came out timely! If I had to name something, I just wish they posted their prices. Otherwise 10/10!

Great place with a laidback ambiance! Ideal to grab a bite of food and drink (they have all kinds of cool drinks). Food is delicious too! Molly makes some killer Oreo milkshakes.

Always great food and a welcoming atmosphere! The staff are very friendly. I love the avocado toast, cottage cheese, and chai latte. And the pastries are always amazing! I would definitely recommend checking them out if you haven't!

This is my favorite coffee shop. Whenever we travel back to Burlington I want to stop by here. We had a small get together for my birthday here and it was fantastic! We let them know ahead of time that our party would be coming and ordered some gf bars to share. The bars were delicious and I really appreciate them letting us use their space! Thank you so much!

I wish I could give this wonderful establishment more than five stars! While visiting Burlington for a week, I have thoroughly enjoyed my morning coffee and breakfast there. The staff were friendly, professional and very welcoming. I especially enjoyed the dog-themed deco! I would (almost) kill my first-born son for a coffee house like this in my hometown!

So this very surprising quaint coffee shop, is unexpectedly extra amazing from the second walk in the door.
I mean WOW, beautiful art work from the floor to the incredible ceiling. You almost forget you came here for the coffee.
This place has me feeling like I walked right off the beach and into their doors.
They have 3 different levels and even you and your pooch can hang, on one of these floors.
Food I mean real food was a great! It was just big and small enough to make you happy. Lip smacking good. I'll have to try the coffee again and pick a stronger bru. Best of all, the staff were so helpful to you if ya can't make up your mind like. ‍️
This place is a must try, especially if you a Yocal. You won't be sorry you did.

I’ll give it five stars to be supportive, and because the desserts looked incredible. Also, the young woman running the register while making drinks seemed like a really nice person.
Having said that, the house coffee was horrible. I’m not sure if they just buy Maxwell house then focus on latte’s etc, but it was shockingly bad. With the tip I paid $3.95 for what was essentially worse than a 99 cent cup of typical gas station coffee. They also had no pour over station or whole bean selection. Just medium roast. Overall very disappointed, but it the environment was lovely, desserts looked incredible and the young woman working seems very nice.

My absolute favorite coffee shop I’ve ever been too! My husbands family is from Burlington and we live in Des Moines but my favorite part about the town is by far BeanCounter! I wish Des Moines had some where as comfortable and plentiful menu options like they have here. I had the coffee flight today which was delicious and so nice to try multiple options. The breakfast flatbread was flavorful and filling. Also had the Asian wrap which was very large, crisp, and tasty. You cannot beat the half pound chocolate chip and snickerdoodle cookies. I had quite a large order and the cashier offered to help carry my goodies to my car as my hands were full, such nice staff members! I can’t wait for my next trip to this amazing establishment! 100/10 to Suann and team!

I live several hours away but visit Burlington multiple times a year and every time I’m in town I make it a priority to stop here. They have the best chocolate cookie that money can buy, ask for it to be heated with a glass of milk in your in Heaven on Earth Their drinks are also amazzzzzing, my favorite is the spiked apple cider. This is the cutest coffee shop you ever did see and they have the cutest custom mugs, t shirts, and more, and there’s even a shop with a ton of accessories for your pup upstairs! The owner is AMAZING and she really cares about the customer experience and goes above and beyond to make sure that it’s a good one! I truly can’t recommend this place enough.
