The Colour Bar Salon & Spa, West Des Moines IA

I went to this salon last year she did great to get me to the blonde I wanted. I came back for my hair to get done again in January of this year I went darker for winter. Well I decided I wanted to go back blonde. Now I'm being told I can't and I'm using the wrong shampoo (even tho I was not asked this in my first appointment when I went blonde. Also was not told what kind of shampoo to use that is good for your hair.) So she told the owner would call me to tell me what I can do to be able to dye my hair blonde it's been 3 weeks I'm still waiting. Don't recommend going here.

All staff have always been so nice. I've been going to Niki for a few years now and I love her! She explains everything clearly and is passionate about her work.

This is the most unprofessional salon i have ever went to.from the owner to the stylist i have done my hair once here back in October and let me tell you the worst hair experience i have ever experience i would not and i mean NOT recommend anyone to go here. First they have damaged my hair and when i have called so many times the owner never calls back like they said she will. She called me back once at 8pm and the same second i called back she didn’t answer its been for months now that i have called and asked to speak to her to find out what they had put in my hair and i have pictures to justify it all.even today i have called left voicemails and asked to get a call back And nothing which I’m not surprised.i have put over 1500$ into my hair since i have done my hair at this place each time i went to do my hair i paid 200/250$ since my hair is thick and for her not to acknowledge the problem is ridiculous. Please stay AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!

I would highly recommend Tanna at the Colour Bar. Tanna listened to what I wanted for a change of color. The color and cut are such a refreshing change for me! She always makes a trip to the Salon such a wonderful trip for me, as a busy mom it is something I look forward to each and every time. Tann is the BEST! - Marilee Mapes

Shanda has been my go to stylist for over 15 years! I trust her implicitly with my hair and color.a true color genius! There is no one I trust more! Sitting in her chair and catching up every 3 months is something I always look forward to! She’s simply the best!

Shanda and all the girls at the color bar are wonderful and kind. Boy do they know hair and color. I would never go anywhere else! Such a great place to get your hair done.

My favorite is Niki Dale she has great skills and a personality to match.

Nikki is amazing! I drive 2 hours one way so she can do my hair and it well worth it! Highly recommend!

Niki has been the only hairstylist that has ever gotten my highlights dead on with what I was wanting. She put extensions in my hair and styled it for my wedding. Al the ladies at the Colour Bar are great and it’s always a welcoming/relaxing atmosphere!

Niki Peter's did an amazing job with a trim, color and style for my hair and always does a fabulous job on my 3 year old. Would HIGHLY recommend, you get your dollars worth with her, she never disappoints.

Ally does an amazing job with my blonde highlights, and she is so friendly and easy to talk to. The salon is very clean, the stylists were all wearing masks during my visit in December 2020, and all the patrons were spaced out pretty comfortably. I highly recommend The Color Bar!

Had my eyelashes tinted and lifted for the first time by the owner, Abby, and it was such a delightful, relaxing experience. AND my eyelashes look fabulous! I will definitely be going back.
