Emily was the best leasing consultant I’ve ever had! Moved in with in a week! Energetic and happy! Definitely recommend her and the Des Moines building!

Overall, The Place Is AMAZING! What I love about the Des Moines Building is that the location is convenient for just about everything; there’s even a dog park on my floor! I know people complain about parking but if you know the Street system it’s not bad at all there’s even FREE parking garages near. Also the building offers a variety of options for monthly parking. But the building is cleaned EVERYDAY and management is ALWAYS on top of things, so on top of things my issues or concerns are usually fixed by the same day or within a few days. And the amenities are just as great because there’s nothing like having a view of the whole town and a gym plus arcade in your basement:)

I’ve been here since February and I never had an issue with this building (besides with cuteness overload from pigeons on the rooftop haha). Everything is updated from my countertop, appliances, to LG thermostat to glass fireplace, WOW!

I also love the rent is very affordable for tenants also pet rent is dirt CHEAP! You also have access to what’s going on in the building right through your residential portal phone app.

I feel that the Des Moines Building new management team has done an immaculate job fixing up the slack from past management reviews and if your thinking about moving here give it a try because you won’t regret the monthly events they host here:)

The first two years I lived in the Des Moines Building (starting in 2020), the HVAC system went out several times each season, but was repaired usually within a day or so. The winter of 2021/2022, it was out for 2 solid weeks during a cold freeze in January. This past winter (Dec 2022-Feb 2023) it was out for over 30 days straight.

The HVAC goes out other times through the year as well, most recently for a week this past spring.

Management has changed hands over occurrences, but the last two incidences (including the 30 day outage) occurred under the current property management.

In none of these instances was any sort of communication sent out by the property explaining or even acknowledging that their residents were without heat/air. Simply do not move to this building without asking when the HVAC system was last replaced.

I moved downtown in April, choose the Des Monies building because it was close to work. I am glad I did, Emily in the leasing office has been so helpful, apartments are nice, view from the rooftop is amazing. Everyone I have met in the elevators are friendly and nice, Even their pets, lol, and I’m not a pet person myself. I would definitely recommend The Des Moines Building to my friends.

I’ve lived here since December & I love my apartment so much. So much space, amazing view from my windows, so many convenient things around me such as HyVee downtown & DGX, Emily has been so great as well. The rooftop is super fun & aside from a few minor issues, they were resolved & I haven’t ever left feeling unheard by management. Thank you again!

Great place to stay! My favorite part about living here is the roof top. Being able to hang out, grill, and chill by a fire is the best, especially with a view! So far I've been here almost a year and have had no issues with the building or staff that was not quickly resolved. I do recommend!
Management has changed to a new company since most of the last reviews. But personally, I've enjoyed it here.

Horrible place, would not recommend to my worst enemy. I lived there two years and both years the heat was out during the winter, and took months to fix. The management was terribly incompetent too.
The place could be dangerous too. I remember when the elevator was out so everyone had to take the stairs, and the emergency lights were out in the stair case! Ten flights in pitch darkness, so unsafe!
Do not rent here.

Edit: August 2,2022. AC has been working for a few months straight actually! No problems whatsoever! Updating back to 4 stars

Edit: May 2022 DO NOT LIVE HERE. Starting to note every day on my calendar that the AC is broken. These guys have earned their 1 star.

These guys charge you $100+ for electricity for a 400 sq.foot apartment where the air condition doesn’t work 25-50% of the time. Robbing us. They turn off the AC on weekends specifically to save money because they don’t have anyone in the office and know there’s no one to complain to until Monday. The AC and heat has literally been broken over 30 times this past year. With zero windows, it is NEVER below 78 degrees in my studio in the summer without running AC. Least efficient building I’ve ever lived in.

February 2022
Going into my 5th year living here. Love the location for access to downtown and the farmers’ market.

Improvements needed are
-openable windows
-replace tiny bathtubs with walk-in showers
-utility bill billing
- (also please bring back the luggage cart deals to move stuff in and out of the building)

New windows is a must. There is zero way to regulate temperature in here besides running AC or heat.

Also the utility bills are BS. It’s all shared amongst the building so I’m literally paying for other people to run their AC’s 24/7. I didn’t run my AC once this summer and still have bills over $90 every time now; even in the winter where I’ve never turned my heat on in 4 years.

The new company that took over The des Moines building, doing a great job. Emily in the office real professional at her job, and very easy to talk to.

This place is garbage. Dirty units, broken appliances, lame thermostats and no maintenance to help. Do NOT rent here.
