The General Store, Fort Dodge IA

Deserves 0 star rating. Stopped in to browse around. Got a few games and books. One game wasn’t marked but the other one similar I was going to purchase was. The manager said it would need to go back for repricing. Ok - send it t back I can wait. Nope I was not allowed to purchase the item. I left without purchasing anything as I won’t support a business who don’t want to sell items. I would much rather support Goodwill where I’ve never had an issue. Melisa

Bought a small desk. Came back later to pick up and was told they don’t help load items. I’ve never shopped anywhere that sells items big or small that won’t help load. How to they get it? They help unload and put on the floor with the Keebler elves? Perhaps they should stop taking donations of anything larger or heavier than a t-shirt. A place that survives on the goodwill and kindness of other’s donations won’t help patrons load items. The irony of signs all over the store supporting disabled people but won’t help a disabled man using a cane load an item isn’t lost either. Guess MS isn’t on their list of disabilities to help. What a scam this place is. Their prices are atrocious too. Wii at goodwill is $25 summer 2022. This place $100. Donate to the Beacon, Eagles club, the key, or even goodwill before this place.

You need to know what regular prices are before buying. They had in 2 clothes drying rack for$25 each, when you can get very similar item at Walmart for about$17. Little puzzles you can gat at Dollar Tree for twice the price and your not even sure all the pieces are there.

Good prices, friendly, professional atmosphere. This place is so needed in our community the cause that is supported is so important! Thank you One Vision for all you do including this store

Love this store! Used to work here and enjoyed the friendly co workers I had and still do love coming in often to shop and to help out one visions mission to help special needs individuals in our community. The general store is really clean, they have great affordable items, and it really is nice stuff. If I could give more stars on this review I would. The staff and volunteers are friendly. And the merchandise is always stocked daily. Just overall a great store.:)
