The Hobby Shop, Ames IA

I drove up from Des Moines just to wander through this store again. It’s always like revisiting my childhood! The owner has always been happy to offer advice on the product he sells and you can tell he’s selling this stuff because he’s used it and believes in it. A local owned, non-box hoppy/toy/geek shop - a joy to visit!

Great to have this kind of Hobby Shop in this town! The owner is very friendly and knowledgeable on a variety of subjects not just hobby related. He will go out of his way to help a customer find what they are looking for even if it's not on hand. Stop in and take a look at his inventory and support your local businesses!

Great Hobby store. Met with the current owner and he is a very nice guy. Has a good amount of Gunpla, military models, and trains. Will order anything for you. Great place.

This is a great place to go for military modelers, as they have a great selection of models from companies other places do not carry. I also like that they stock the larger sizes of Tamiya paints, especially for the colors I use a lot of. The owner is very friendly and helpful for finding whatever you need.

Great Hobby Store focuses mostly on toy trains, and models of planes, trains, and ships, I'am sure they can get what you want though! Very friendly staff.

Good local shop for scale modeling, if they don't have it they'll find what you need and at a good price.
