The Quarters at Iowa City reviews
16They have good communication and work professionalism. Whenever I have a maintenance issue, they come the next day and are always super nice!
Living at the quarters has been a blast! The staff is amazing the rooms are very clean and spacious and the maintenance staff is fast snd available. I’ve been living here for a while now and wouldn't go anywhere else!
I really love it here and i like the amentities, i just wish more treadmills worked in the rec
Honestly, I like living at this place, the have a lot of things to do such as the gym, golfing, basketball and a outdoor. I had minior problems while staying here. The rent is pretty affordable, they even have deal sometimes. There always having different events going on that you can attend. I can see myself, staying here for a couple of more years.
If you want an overpriced apartment then this might be the place for you! Our first bad experience came a couple months after moving in when we received a comically large $400 water bill. Mind you, we went home for the winter and were averaging an average bill of around $50. Simple bills, the utility company was useless to get help from, and when we finally pressured them to fix the problem, they attempted to reach out to the quarters, to which they received no response.
We ended up paying near $700 over the course of two months from ridiculous utility bills and never received any form of compensation and or help for that matter.
Additionally, we were charged an extra $140 after moving out for fixing costs. I can attest that some were justified, our cat messed up the blinds and a section of carpet however all the other small “fixes” where their prior to us moving in and while we have photographic proof of it, my fiance has struggled to get it resolved with management.
I really feel for younger tenants who are likely students that don’t know any better and don’t bother arguing about the charges but this place is ridiculous. It looks too good to be true during the initial tour, rest assured that it is!
The Quarters is one of the worst apartments to live at in Iowa City my friend that lived there got his car towed even when he had the sticker displayed. All they care about is money and not much about their residents just drive by the dumpsters!
Prior to moving in, our unit was disgusting. The carpet was nasty and in terrible condition. Take pictures of everything that they could overcharge you on later. My roomie and I were both charged $300 to “repair” carpet that was already peeling apart when we moved in. The biggest problem is how much they overcharge for everything. Don’t live here, there are plenty more reasonable places to live in IC!
Just another scumlord complex looking to nickel and dime you every chance they get, read your CONTRACT thouroughly before signing anything.
Updated 6/26/2023: still very happy with my decision to live at The Quarters. Obviously like any major complex there have been minor inconveniences and such, but overall it’s been great. Staff are all helpful, units are nice and quiet. Summer turnaround staff could probably use some work. There’s like 3 command strips on my walls that they just painted over before I moved in instead of removing and then painting. Only moving out now because of new roommates and need more storage/space.
Been here since August so far and it’s been as good as I could’ve hoped. Maintenance crew is great. Wish there was a little more parking and bedrooms could be a little bigger, but besides that it’s been pretty good. Also wish there was a little more flexibility with resigning leases for those who aren’t in school and can’t sign a lease 8 months in advance. I previously lived at Hawks Ridge and this place is 10x better. Cleaner and better staff, and the hot tub actually works.
Please read your contract. They will ask you to pay utilities months upfront and overcharge, and then you have to submit a request for a refund if you paid too much for utilities, which takes weeks to get back. They use a 3rd party billing system, so there is no negotiating. Also, they do not clean apartments prior to move-in. Absolute scammers! The best option here is to find another place to live.
I lived at the Quarters for one year. I called around the time of move-out and was told by an employee that I had nothing left on my balance. A few days ago the Quarters reached out to tell me I still owed two months rent. I used my extra money to prepay on another place because I was told this. Now I am left in a bad situation. If they just gave out correct information in a timely manner this would have never happened. I liked the space, but not management. I would not live here again.
My office for True Home Services is here. Best I’ve ever had! The people are amazing and the amenities and everything.
Spacious bedrooms with plenty of shared living space! The amenities are my favorite for summer festivities and game nights!
Great accommodations, great price, love the events that they host. The bus system is great.
I have lived here for 2 years and have loved it! The amenities are great and the staff is always so nice!
I’ve lived here for over a year and I love it the staff is super friendly and the amenities are great!
