The Republic on Grand, Des Moines IA

Neat spot up on the 6th floor of the hotel. Has nice views of different directions around the city, particularly nice at sunset. They have a patio that is open when it’s nice out, and enclosed with heaters when it’s cooler. Cocktails are well prepared, and although we haven’t tried them, the small plates looked good.

One of my favorite spots for date night! Food and drinks are always amazing and it’s a great view!

I took my wife here last night for Valentines Day and we both had a blast. The food was delicious and worth every penny.

A nice place. Great views and comfortable seatings. Drinks are nice and the environment is pretty welcoming in general. Maybe service could be a little faster but it is no big deal. Recommended.

This top floor on a hotel is open for a view of downtown Des Moines. No dress code though it is one of those places that has a de facto dress code because of the clientele. The lobby to get up to the restaurant is very nice and the facility is clean and classy. Service was great. Food was well prepared. Good experience.

I had purchased the most expensive package for NY Eve. I was flying in for the celebration. Due to the snow storms and plane issues there was no way I was going to make it. I contacted them 3 days in advance, knowing their cancellation policy but hoping with the severe circumstances, they would compromise.
I NEVER HEARD FROM THEM!

I FEEL THIS IS POOR CUSTOMER RELATIONS AND I AM SHARING THIS WITH ALL FRIENDS AND FAMILY IN THE AREA TO NEVER ADDEND ANY FUNCTION NOR STAY AT THIS FACILITY.

I am deeply disappointed.

I expected more from them!

Fun atmosphere, outdoor rooftop options in the summer. We had great service. She corrected a late food delivery for part of our party. Will go back!

The summer salad is absolutely horrible. I do not feel like it is worth 26 dollars and should be taken off of the menu ASAP!

Had excellent cocktail. Charred apple salad was very good. The riesling pairing was on spot. The shrimp pasta was mostly flat. But the albarino pairing was perfect

Unique open-air of downtown Des Moines. If the place isn't busy, then all of the staff are on the other side, difficult to get a drink. Twice, I had to get their attention to get a drink?

Sunday brunch was very subpar. We didn’t want to finish our dishes. The Bloody Mary was bland, the waffle was limp. The salmon cake Benedict was lukewarm when I got it and the cake itself did not taste good. All of this was worsened by the fact that this quality of a meal with two drinks was $75.

Stunning views of DSM, especially of the fireworks on game nights.
Drinks were all awesome and are unique.

Good food, drinks, atmosphere and our server Rachael was terrific! Looking forward to a return visit.

The view here is neat, hours are accommodating, and wait staff is friendly. The menu is expensive for food that is just alright, dinner service cadence is slow, & they aren’t flexible if you ask to modify a dish at all (ex: removing listed toppings from a salad). If you have the time, I’d skip this & find a place that doesn’t seem so entitled to the patronage.

We decided to stop by and were not disappointed. The Republic had a great atmosphere on a beautiful Friday afternoon.

The atmosphere was great. It was very comfortable in there on a hot summer day. People were in great spirits and service was great.

The cheese platter was delicious. 4-5 different cheese types, bread, and great apple appetizers.

My wife enjoyed a rose' flight and I enjoyed a nice summer drink.

The service was amazing, prompt, and looking back.we should have spent the rest of the afternoon there.

Great place and they are focused on quality of atmosphere and food.
