The Tavern Grill, West Des Moines IA

The Tavern Grill is a new restaurant that opened in Jordan Creek Mall (near the cinema entrance on the other side of the food court) and appears to be part of a relatively new restaurant chain. The food is good and service is excellent. Staff is extremely friendly. I had the buffalo chicken wrap with home make potato chips. My wife had the teriyaki salmon. For an appetizer we had cheese curds. Portion sizes are on the larger side. I would highly recommend trying the restaurant and may be a great alternative to the Cheese cake factory. There are some highly customizable items on the menu from Burgers, to salads, and even pizza. They also have an excellent reward program that can get you discounts.

The server was very attentive and friendly. Ordered the baked spaghetti, and it was one of the best baked spaghetti's I've ever had. The sauce is a pale, pink, and was mixed with Italian sausage, pepperoni, mozzarella, and parmesean. I will definitely be eating here again.

Me and two friends placed our food orders all at the same. One friend got his food in a timely matter. My second friend got his order about 10 minutes later and my order didn't arrive until both were finished eating their order. I made multiple inquiries and was told it's coming. Didn't receive a story from them for my order being so late or even an offer to say the sandwich was free. My order was over cooked and didn't get the side requested.

I wouldn't recommend this place.

I loved the Blueberry Lemon Moscow Mule. My spouse & I ate there for the first time, and we both agree that we most likely will not go back. The service was slow, and there were a few unprofessional events. The bartender bellowed someone’s name to get the person’s attention who was at the host station. I was startled and about choked on my drink. My spouses dinner was served about 15 minutes before my dinner without an explanation. I thought they forgot about it, then it arrived. At that time they told me why it took so long. Evidently the sauce separated while sitting, so they had to make a new batch. I was not thrilled with the flavor of either of our dinners, however my spouse liked his. He had the fish sandwich, and I will say the size of the fish was large and you get to pick your side, along with coleslaw that comes with it. I was given a free dessert that the manager offered because of my dinner served late. The chocolate cake was delicious.

Love this place! Haven't had anything bad! Among the favs are baked spaghetti, soup, cheese curds, onion rings, buffalo Mac and cheese, all desserts, brunch!

We had the Taco Pizza which was very good. I would of given 5 stars but they didn’t have any Pepsi or diet Pepsi. I think someone should of adjusted the inventory.

Club was delicious and the daily soup of Tomato Basil was outstanding.
Atmosphere was pleasant, clean and well lit.
This was our first time and we will consider it definitely with friends.

First time eating here, all the staff provided exceptional service and food was wonderful. We'll definitely be return in the future.

The food is not good enough to be as presents as it is and it's really overpriced. The service was absolutely terrible. One of the waiters practically stuck his face in my husband's food. We will never go back.

The restaurant was very clean, and the service was great, and food was delicious. I know this location has been several different names. This one is by far my favorite

The Naked Filet is astonishingly good! One of the best steaks available in WDSM and the Tavern cooks it right.
Love the idea of casual counter or tablet service in mall side. A third place with tables, some upholstered seating would capture movie traffic before & after the show and draw in foot traffic too.

Have been to Tavern 4x so far. Prompt service, refreshing alternative to snail pace Cheescake Factory, esp enjoy the Cajun Shrimp.

Walking past the mall side access gives the appearance of all empty tables, dead restaurant, not inviting. Maybe convert it to a lounge with comfortable inviting seating? Add counter service for casual menu? Or even a big screen visible to mall traffic with live feed of the vibrant dining room to encourage massive mall traffic entries. Also need mall side signage.

New place at Jordan Creek Mall. My husband got the Widow Maker Burger and I gad the Reuben. The sandwiches were great, garlic mashed potatoes that actually tasted like garlic. Service was fast, our server was so nice and recommended the key lime pie for desert though neither one of us had room for desert. We will definitely be back!

We were excited to try this place after so many positive reviews, but sadly, our experience left us almost speechless. The food was subpar. The service was awful. We waited over an hour for our food in a not even close to full restaurant. The others in our party ordered a take out dish for they son who was at home. They ordered this at the same time as the rest of the orders, but it was almost an hour to get the to go order. Our water was only refilled one time and not by our server, who we only saw 3 times all night. We tried to let the manager know about our less than satisfactory experience, and she brushed it off like it was not her fault.
We will not return. One thought, if you are going to use non-conventional ways of cooking, maybe don't have open windows looking into said kitchen.

Great place to eat! Very friendly staff that were on top of everything. The food was super good too! I would definitely come back if I lived closer ̈

OK so to be fair this was our first visit to the Tavern, unfortunately it will be our last. The food was OK not anything remarkable. The service was terrible. The manager tried to make up for it but then abandoned us. Never got the French onion soup we ordered. They did offer us a free piece of pie but then tried to charge us for it. Not worth a visit in my opinion!

Newly opened, we were pleasantly surprised at the great service, large menu options (see their website), and the awesome food. Highly recommend you give The Tavern a try!

Pleasantly surprised with the renovations of the location. The booths felt private and were comfortable. We ordered the pretzels as an appetizer and we all could have had the whole basket as a meal! A light and fluffy Auntie Anne's texture with everything bagel type seasoning. Amazing! The Caesar Salad was up to our family connoisseur's standards; with easy-to-eat grilled chicken pieces, dressing throughout, and plentiful cheese. The hand tossed pizza was flavorful and plenty of topping. The chicken wrap tasted fresh and added Cajun spices to the chicken per request, was so good. Alfredo chicken pasta was just right. We can't wait to go back and relax with a football game and apps again soon!

Great service and nice atmosphere. Food was good but expensive for what it is. Service and staff were excellent.
