Uncle Buck's Fish Bowl and Grill reviews
20To order you need to use the QR code taped to the table via an app that collects your name, email, etc. No server interaction except when they bring your food. We were a party of five, two got their food after 10 minutes, two of us waited 15 more minutes before ours arrived, the last, a bowl of soup, took another 10 minutes. Prices are outrageous and portions are small. The restaurant is located between the bowling alleys, so the noise is horrible. We could hardly converse. I advise avoiding this establishment.
We waited over an hour for our food. Our drinks were not refilled while we waited. When we finally got our food it was luke warm at best. It appears they had only one person working there who knew what she was doing, but she was trying to tend bar & wait tables at the same time. There were two other employees there, but did not seem to be concerned about the situation. We were given 30% discount for our trouble but it was still over $60 for 2 people. We will not be coming back.
It's by far from the worst. The food is decent, it's an overall fun restaurant. My review is rated because this place is not clean. There is so much dust on the fish hanging from the ceiling I could scrape it off with a shovel. I guarantee that dust is falling into your food as you eat. It looks like Uncle Buck needs to get the cleaning team out for sure.
Had the best burger ever,! Cooked to perfection, even the bacon! My friend had a pasta Cajun chicken meal, she loved it! Server was amazing. This is now one of my favorite places.
Order via QR code, servers brought lukewarm, overpriced food and never saw them again. Had to ask for silverware and napkins. Food was mediocre at best. No refills on drinks.
Went in ask to eat they said sit anyplace.we did not busy at all. Watching 3 employees talking at front counter.two walked by. No drinks no menu. 25 min later we went down the street to Jethros fast service and food. Will never try that again.
Do yourself a favor and keep driving. Don’t torture yourself. Zero service, cold food, and it tastes old.
Cool looking place but the food was not that great. My husband had the fish he said was flavorless. I had nachos with queso. The queso was too salty.
Used to have lots of places for families to come in and eat, but they've taken it down to very few spots and added games and stuff. Would be a 5 star if there was more family seating.
I'd loved this place, the food was great, people were awesome, and everything was clean!
We hosted my daughter's birthday party here. The staff and service were wonderful. The food was great. They even brought out a huge brownie sundae for my daughter to share with her friends. I would highly recommend the Altoona location for birthday parties!
An "under-the-sea" themed pub. It's connected to basspro shop, but directly accessible from the parking lot too. Great fish amd chips. Service was a bit slow, because they had only two servers, but the personnel was ver friendly and really worked hard to cover all tables. They have bowling lanes and a small arcade on site.
It's an interesting place, decent food, a couple cool games and very interesting bowling setup. It's pricing is ridiculous though, extremely expensive but thats in line with almost everything else that Mr. Morris sells.
Food wan ok, but at least service made it up, was pretty neat chitchat about our travel and how austrians end up here in Iowa
Enjoyd it thx:)
My wife and I eat out every Sunday for a lunch. Just to relax if anything. We like to go to Bass Pro so we figured we would go to Uncle Buck's. We got there and sat in the dining room, about 10 minutes later someone came in and said we had to order at the bar. So we walk up to the bar to order, but apparently we were on the wrong side to order. So we moved to the other side of the bar and ordered. Our drinks were put on the end of the bar and we were told to come get them. Meanwhile 4 people were standing at the shoe pickup and bowling desk.
They did bring our food to the table when it was ready. It was pretty good and hot so that was a nice surprise. All in all, it seemed like a bunch of teens were running the place and no one really was in charge. We tried it and we will find another place to go next week. You win some and you lose some and this time, we lost.
We have stopped at Uncle Bucks since it opened to have Fish and Chips. This time we met with the host who told us they no longer have servers. He provided us with menus and told us we needed to sit in a room to the side separate from everything else. To order our food, we had to either use our phones to scan the barcode on the table to order or return to the host to order. We found ourselves to our table and struggled to order. We then decided if they can't afford servers, I really don't want to risk what the cooks' abilities are. We left without ordering.
Its a cool concept and the kids had fun. It is CRAZY expensive though. $30 for 30 min of bowling with 2 adults and 1 kid. If you're charging that much for bowling I would expect to get shoes that don't have cracks in them. We opted not to order food because the kitchen staff seemed to have questionable hygiene.
Fried Pickle chips were cold and very salty the cook didn’t even give utensils ordered specialty drinks more ice then anything didn’t taste no alcohol pizza under cooked and ordered cheese curds because pickle chips were terrible like everything else
Food was good, service was good. Wasn't expecting a bowling alley inside so that was a little loud
Marginal bar food. Noisy with the restaurant between bowling lanes. Will not visit this restaurant again
