Walnut Creek Regional Park reviews
7Does anyone know where the pavilion is at? Dave S you posted a picture of one, can't find it anywhere walking around or on satellite view.
We love walking the trail in the park. Typically see a deer or two and bald eagles at the eagles nest along the trail. The path is wide and never feels crowded even when lots of people are out.
It's an interesting little workout spot for teenagers. Most definitely not for children under the age of 14, so dont waste your time if that what you are looking for. Otherwise, ita decent, right on the trail, and by what seems to be a small parking area.
Specifically talking about Horizons Ridge Playground.
The little excavator is neat (although it could use more material under it to excavate) and the playground in the shape of a ship is in decent shape and would be suitable for slightly younger kids. The swings appeared to be in decent shape and the basketball court looked nice. There are several benches and one picnic table with a little grill.
It lost two stars because:
- The mulch needed a refresh, as it was pretty faded and sparse
- No public restrooms
- No dedicated parking - be prepared to park on the street
- We were there @ 7: 30 PM on August 14th and it was pretty buggy due to the trees/foliage on the other side of the trail, so we didn't stick around for too long. During the heat of the day it's probably not as big of a deal, but I feel like this place probably gets like this most nights.
Great place to walk, bike, jog, play on the the playground. They recently added a new pavilion.
Wow, not just a city park or a county park, but a regional park! Relax, I have been there, it’s not exactly setting the world on fire. Nice park hidden in the trees. Has that Neverland, Peter Pan, I’m never gonna grow up vibe to it. Be on the lookout for Captain Hook. He is usually selling vape to youngsters under the bike trail bridge. ️️️️️
