Winterset Cidery

Granddaughter came home from Chicago and we did a little taste testing at the Cidery. Great atmosphere, great darteders and all the different flavors of cider are awesome. Highly recommend stopping in.

The staff and cider was very good! The downfall is that the cost for u-pick apples is $5 per pound. Two couples ended up spending $81 and $66 each on less than 40 apples each. If you watch your pocketbook you'll have a good time. The u-pick apples are more expensive than organic apples at natural grocers, whole foods or any other apple orchard in the state of Iowa. Rip off!

Stopped here on way back from Des Moines with my 2 girls to pick apples. Was rediculously expensive, cost $91 for a large bag (maybe 20-25 apples) and a small bag (maybe 12 apples). Then upon checking out, their computer swipe supposedly didnt work, so the person went to bar to use the square, which I watched her do. Swipes again, but said if we get charged twice to call and they will fix no problem, she “really didn’t think the first charge went through”. Well the credit card statement showed two charges of $91. So I called, left 3 voicemails and one email before getting any response. They stated they only show one charge of $91 on their end and don’t even have or use a square…. Basically calling me a liar. Said I had to dispute with my ccd company, which I did, who states that the 2nd charge was run on a square… Luckily the credit card company is refunding my $91 and doing an investigation. I just want to warn any people to not do U-pick apples! What a ripoff even before the double charge!

When we do staycations, wineries are one of our points of interest. Always meet some great people, test some interesting local wines, and there is always a story behind each and every place. Winterset is one of my favorite Iowa places to begin with and the Cidery has great selections, and the views are outstanding. The live entertainment we have seen was very good as well.

Enjoyed the ciders and beautiful scenery, but the cider is expensive. 7 dollars per glass, and this is in Winterset. Flights and bottles to take home are spendy as well. I will stay in Des Moines and just buy cider at my local store.

Beautiful! First time at a cidery and highly enjoyed it. Local orchard and ciders are made in house. I enjoyed flavors including cherry vanilla, apple pie, pumpkin spice and several more. Plus free popcorn. Great place for a flight of ciders, picking apples & enjoying a little relaxation.

The ladies were welcoming and knowledgeable. All the ciders were tasty, not overly sweet. Lovely location to have a couple drinks.

5 stars for the location and structure alone.
Amazing views from the back deck of the wooden building.
Tons of open space for whatever activities the owners may choose to host. The rows and rows of apple trees are a cool cherry on top. While I'm not a big cider guy personally, I really enjoyed everything that I tried. Cherry vanilla.solid. I would definitely recommend a stop if you're out exploring the area.

Came over from a few counties east and it was definitely worth the trip! Awesome vibe, & really nice and quick staff. The Habanero Lime was my absolute favorite. Great balance of sweet (not too sweet) and heat. Super yum.

This was a really fun stop for us. They have great cider, and we ended up buying 6 bottles. It's worth a stop if you enjoy cider and are driving around looking at some of the covered bridges nearby.

The plain hard cider is some of the best we've had. The other flavors we tried were either sickeningly sweet or just not flavors we cared for. Good, friendly service and a nice atmosphere.

This place was amazing. The ciders we tasted were delicious. Popcorn is available for a snack. They have both indoor and outdoor seating and plenty of room for you to bring your own chairs and find a spot outside to enjoy the country and a drink with friends or family. Try a flight, or just order a glass, then take a bottle home with you. Will definitely be back the next time we are in the area.

Wonderful ciders and the staff was fun to talk to. Very nice view off the patio. I wish they did food, even just simple sandwiches or something.

Whoa! What a fabulous place! We were hitting some of the “Bridges of Madison County” when my daughter suggested this place. I was hesitant, as the main theme was Cider. Boy, was I wrong! Their ciders are phenomenal! I had the Pineapple Orange Cider as well as the Cherry Cider.
There were two, count ‘em TWO, wedding parties who were there while we were. Still, plenty of “quiet space” for us. When we left, we encountered a group carrying chairs out to the field just to enjoy the space they provide. Are you near Winterset as you read this review? Well, what the hell are you waiting for, an engraved invitation? Consider this it!

This place was great. We walked in at the last minute and they still accommodated us. They had a couples flight of 8 choices. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Highly recommend.

Great Cidery in a beautiful setting. We were driving through Madison County visiting the Covered Bridges and my wife found this place so we stopped on a whim. Initially I was going to just sit with the dog and not partake and we ended up spending some time. The outdoor deck was fantastic on a warm summer day for enjoying a few flights of cider. I highly recommend tasting them all. The staff was on their game and very pleasant. Great way to spend an afternoon.
