Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park RV Resort at Monticello, IA reviews
18Beware! They over sell the Wibit tickets and force you to wait inline until a rotation happens. This happened to us and it took 45 minutes after arriving for us to even get into the water. Once we got into the water a few older kids were violating rules and instead of just removing those offenders they forced everyone out of the water. Really disappointed in the direction this location is headed.
First time ever at a Jellystone campground. Very nice with a great store and helpful staff. Very reasonable rates and nice sites. Will return when in the Monticello area.
We took our DayHab group to the park today and purchased day use wristbands. Everyone had so much fun, the staff was amazing to our members and so kind. You can tell that they truly care about what they do and want everyone to have a great time. Our group will be talking about this for weeks to come! Thank you so much for having us! We will definitely be coming back!
Family-friendly with great activities on site for kids - playground, pool, jump pad, boats, even special activities with Yogi. Our toddlers tried the Wibit but fell off, would be fun for older kids. Quiet and restful, great deals during the week. One negative- lots of mosquitoes in the tent area.
We have been campers here for at least 5 years. My friend called to book a spot for him & another friend & they told them it was 1 tent per a spot so they would have had to pay 130 each.
We've always booked one RV spot and had two tents so I called to ask and they said no you can't do that.
So I booked us at another campsite & called back to cancel & paid the $30 cancellation fee. I told the manager why we’re canceling and they should put that on their website because it’s not posted anywhere.
She said it's always been that way & I said no we've camped there for 5 years and have always done it like that.
She said maybe no one noticed when we did it before and I said well I paid for extra adults & have checked in every year & have asked in the past.then told me “well it's only ok at a RV spot” and I said I had booked a RV spot and called and asked about it when my friend told me they couldn't do 2 tents in one spot.
She never addressed any of my concerns or apologized and tried to gaslight me. Overall I doubt we will be coming back to this campground.
We couldnt find a place to swim near the Maquokita Caves, so we found this gem about 40 minutes way. We were hesitant as, we are usually "in the woods" kinda campers. It is busy, but there is so much to do. We were there for 3 days and still did not get to do everything. The folks staying there were friendly, the kids working there were awesome and super helpful! And let me tell you those bathrooms were CLEAN! It is pretty open, and super family friendly. There is going to be a lot of noise but that is to be expected at at place like that. The drive there from WI is absolutely beautiful. We had no idea Iowa looked like that. Overall it was one of the best camping trips we have had and will be going back next year with more people in tow!
The sites are very tight. Prepare to smell and see your neighbors 'waste' if you are in a full hook up spot.
The campground should offer mats to cover the waste hook up drains to help minimize this horribly gross issue.
The campground is gravel so prepare your footwear and other activities accordingly. The full hook up sites have concrete pads for your picnic table and such. They seem to mostly be at least as big as the camper awning from what we saw.
Nice general store and fun activities. The beach needs some attention, lots of area that is completely a hill.
You may want to bring bikes, wagons, or rent a golf cart. It is a little walk to everything.
It's just a suggestion based on my experience.the staff at the wibit had a hard time controlling the patrons that weren't following the rules. Mainly it seems because they couldn't pinpoint exactly who they meant when they were calling them out. My thoughts were to put neon numbers on the back of each life vest that way they can call out the trouble makers and kick them out if need be.
Frustrating experience! The family experience is not what it used to be. Took us 45 minutes after arriving for us to even get into the water due to them over selling Wibit tickets.
Once we got into the water a few older kids were violating rules and instead of just removing those offenders they forced everyone out of the water.
We have a large family and it costs quite a bit for us to use the Wibit and we came away feeling cheated. Crazy town and chaos is the only way to describe our most recent experience.
Unbelievably bad service. Been here on multiple occasions and have never felt more undervalued or discriminated against. Come here if you want to feel like you don't belong or are not welcome. Staff is a bunch of gaslighting liars.
Good but pricey. Very busy weekend since it was Father's day weekend. You couldn't tell it, though. Plenty for everyone to do.
Everything was great for the most part, the only downfall that I experienced was the lack of communication when kids were out on the wibit and needing to get off of the wibit. Kids weren’t being told to exit for “cleaning “ or “rotation” they were just getting yelled at by staff on the microphone. ***need better communication at the wibit
This is such a hidden gem in Iowa! Kids and adults had a blast on the Wibit and the all employees were friendly and great with the kids.
All of the staff were helpful and great to interact with. The teenagers working at the Wibit were cheerful and inviting. We enjoyed participating in the activities offered and appreciated the bathroom updates since we had last visited! We also appreciated the amount of shade at our campsites.
We had a blast camping here! The lake is great, the activities, fishing, breakfast with the bears! It was all so fun! Halloween weekend was great! Can't wait to go back!
We stayed here midweek. Excellent. Lots of activities for kids. The Wibit is huge and great. Kids spent hours on it. Lake has paddle boards and a kayak. Fishing. Couldn’t have asked for more.
My son accidentally ran into a flower pot. The manager was so amazing she was only concerned about it he was ok. This place has been so much fun! Highly recommend
Jelly stone is great for family and friends. Kids love yogi bear when he comes to your campsite and all the act during the day.
