Zoom Auto Sales, Des Moines IA

I got ripped off by Zoom auto sales on E 14th. Looking at the place I should have known better but I still let them take me for a ride.
I bought a 2012 Equinox in March 2023.
Something started banging in the back passenger side the first day. I took it back and they lied and said it was a swaybar link and they fixed it.
Another week goes by and it starts having even more issues. Lights started coming on like crazy.all wheel drive, stability track, ABS, traction control. Any issues that come up the owner blamed other staff and mechanics for.
I had someone look at it and they found that the frame is completely rusted and coming apart in the rear end. I AGAIN took it back to the lot. I spoke to the owner and showed him the issues.

To my absolute surprise he said he would trade it but had nothing on the lot that would compare to what I thought I had bought. The owner said it would be okay he would find me something at the auction. Week after week went by and still nothing.
Finally he shows us another Equinox he was buying from the auction that was to be arriving in a few days.
I left excited and relieved that this man was finally going to make things right. The next week came still no car but we were told it's still coming that there was a title issue.
Finally I stop again and his employee tells me his check bounced and there is no car coming. BUT His mechanic said he had fixed my car completely and even sent it to 3 different shops.
All they did was spray paint the frame to try to hide the damage and reset the lights which all came back on within a block.

They repeatedly tried to tell me the pos was safe for myself and my pregnant daughter to drive.

The guy knew upfront due to battling cancer for the past 7 years I was on disability which he had to verify in order to get me approved!

I'm sure he will try to lie like he does on all his bad reviews but I have video proof of almost every interaction with him and his employees. He also pays people $25 gas cards to leave good reviews.

Vehicle looks like it was in a flood. Should have been a salvage since it basically has no frame. I checked the oil and all the common things I normally check but it didn't even occur to me to make sure that a 2012 still had a frame.

I know and expect buying a used car there are risks and you're likely to have some issues come up but this is ridiculous to do to anyone let alone a pregnant lady and her cancer patient mother.
DON'T LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU OR ANYONE YOU KNOW!

Absolutely horrible! They sold a vehicle to a family member that legally should have had a salvage title due to the damage under the vehicle. This family member was pregnant at the time and now has a newborn along with another family member that has cancer. The frame of the car is literally falling apart with all the rust damage. After my family members demanded that zoom make it right, they took the car back with the promise of either fixing the car or getting another one for them. The car sat there for months without repair or a replacement. The whole entire time it was in Zoom’s possession, my family continued to make payments on this car as well as pay for the insurance. At one point, my family noticed that the car wasn’t even at Zoom and wondered where it was. Come to find out, they not only took it to an auction, but had SOLD the car at auction and ended up having to make a deal to get it back. They never came up with another car and ended up saying that they fixed the original car. After picking up the car, it was discovered that not only the repairs had not been done but was also covered up and disguised to look like it was repaired. It is absolutely sickening that there are people in the world like this. Please! DON’T EVER BUY FROM ZOOM!

Bought a car and with in minutes the car broke down. They claimed for weeks the car was getting fixed. The car never even made it to the shop. The bank forced them to buy the car back and return my down payment. I still have not received my down payment back! The Iowa attorney general and I have a claim on their insurance bond for my down payment. The owner is also currently being charged with forgery for signing my name on the title. Extremely unprofessional business. Update your comment all you want and say what ever you want but nothing you say is true. I called the shops and verified all of it there was never a schedule set up for the car. You have no right to sign my signature. And that’s why you’re being charged with forgery “wish you the best of luck on your future endeavors “

I purchased a bmw though these guys months ago. I thought everything was great until I got the car home. And check engine lights started popping up. Not even 45 min after leaving. Would not reccomend you buying cars from them.

Quick and easy process. Friendly guys. Guaranteed approval is accurate…my interest rate was high but that’s to be expected with less than stellar credit (and doesn’t reflect on Zoom).

Really bad place to buy a car. Be aware. They sell broken down cars that make it long enough to get off the lot.
Edit: I did call last time and spoke to someone who said they would reach out to the warranty company. I never heard back.

The people here are very easy going, and work with you under pretty much any way possible. Vehicle was inspected well and runs great. Would recommend to someone who doesn’t have much luck with big dealerships.

Very friendly people, got approved with very low credit and got me into a car the same day. Very happy with my purchase. The salesman Thomas helped out and I 100% recommended them

Whatever you do don’t buy a car from here. I called them after they answered my review and they didn’t call back or help. They sold a car with power steering that only worked for 2 days after I bought it. They didn’t tell me but they sold me a warranty for it that doesn’t even cover what’s wrong. The transmission is failing too. Shady shady and more shady.
