Don Taco Village STREET Mexican food reviews
17I've been here about 30 times this year. The food is always fantastic. The service is great and the waitresses are awesome. Today I pulled up to get more food and I have a long bed truck that is huge. I parked at the end of the lot so I wouldn't be In anybody's way and a young gentleman hustled out to tell me to move my truck that I was sticking too far in the road, which if it would have been true would have been none of his business. However, I walked to the back of the truck because I thought surely he was wrong and I was 4 to 5 feet away from the road. I'm 67 so climbing in and out of my truck is problematic to begin with. But I jumped right back in and left! Made me mad enough to where I pulled out and went somewhere else to eat. I'm sure he didn't care but if I ever go back and I see him I'll leave again. I'm thinking he's a relative but I'm not accustomed to getting scolded twice when I'm in the right!
First timer. Tried a few items. All were very good. Most notable was that each item was special. Even the rice and beans were well prepared and spiced just right. Would recommend all of the menu items. If not sure, ask.
Had lunch here today 1/3/2024 absolutely horrible food. Meats were overly dry and extremely saltly.after leaving realized I was overcharged.no receipt offered at check in counter.ordered tacos menu price listed $11 got 2, order qeso $7 ordered 1 bottle water and 1 soft drink, was billed $41, was busy chatting while waiting to pay, guess you have to pay complete attention otherwise you will perhaps get overbilled by this establishment. We never plan return to this business and will share our experience with everyone we know and people we meet in community. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED TO SAY THE LEAST.
Two sad tiny tacos. Cost $16.00 shrimp taco had two tiny shrimp. El pastor Taco dry and lifeless. To bad. I was hoping for new go too. I'll keep searching.
Omgeeee.the mexican pizza thing. <<chef kiss>>. Yes I will have another! That was fantastic.
Small place but the food was awesome. We got like this Mexican looking pizza It was really good
The food wasn't very good. The chips were stale. The chorizo con queso was just some melted cheddar with some seasoning in it. It wasn't good either. I would have rather gone to Taco Bell.
I order the discada tacos and I get ground beef tacos. And the guy take the order said oh now the discada tacos is ground beef because a lot of people don’t like discada. That is not my problem. They should tell me in the beginning they don’t have discada anymore and I will order something different, ground beef I can make it at home. Second time at this place and last time. Good luck
We enjoyed the food very much especially the chorizo. We had it in the tacos & burritos. Definitely go back!
This place is absolutely wonderful! I’m usually not too fond of Mexican food, but this place hits differently. I only got the chicken quesadilla but it was so wonderful! It melted in my mouth even. My bf tried stealing it from me lol. And the girl up front is so sweet! Please come by here! This is my 1 place to go now.
My boyfriend and I are regulars at Don Taco because it is the best Mexican food on the Northshore hands down. It is reasonably priced and has the best Birria! The food is high quality and I love the atmosphere. If your sharing don’t skip the Mexican Pizza, it is to die for!
WHAT? ! This place hit every spot perfectly. Amazing staff and awesome & authentic food! Wasn't really expecting much, just to get a few tacos for lunch and I ended up getting 2 entrees. I live 40 min away and I have been back there twice a week since first trying. Definitely worth it if you're in the area. He'll it's worth it if you're not. I can honestly say that no other Latin restaurant can come close to the food here
The food was decent, but when I went at lunch time to get the featured gordita, which was the ultimate reason I chose the restaurant, it wasn't available. That's a no Bueno.
If it's a feature item, it should be available or put it on the door as sold out.
The street corn was just okay and not worth $5.
Overall, total letdown.
Love this place! This is the only place I have found on the northshore that makes authentic Mexican anywhere close to what I would get while living in Houston. Ice cold Topo Chicos, tacos are delicious and the tortas are the some of the best I’ve ever had.
Tried tacos from here for the first time on Mardi Gras day. They are AMAZING! I didn’t know tacos could taste like that! Since then, I’ve recommended them to several friends, and they all agree - these are the absolute BEST tacos any of us have ever eaten! We will be back again, and again, and again!
Great food, idk what everyone is complaining about. If you want looks with no class go to pink agave. This place is a gem with authentic food.
This place is ok but too over priced. We were charged for extra avocado on our tacos, but they did not put it on there. The tacos had very little meat on them.
