Used to be a good bank. Now with their new checking account system, you have to take the one that charges you a monthly fee. If you take the simple one, you only get 12 debit card uses or direct deposit. If you go over they charge you the same amount as the accounts with the monthly fee. Huh? !

Walked into an Academy Bank in a Walmart to inquire about a notary. The representative asked if I was a customer. When I told her no, she said they only notarize for customers. Seems like that’s a really good way to assure that I will NEVER be a customer. By the way, two people working, one browsing on her computer, no other customers. I hope I got out-of-the-way quick enough for all the rush of customers coming into the bank

The absolute WORST and MOST UNPROFESSIONAL JOKE of a bank to deal with. I’m not sure what I expected anyway but Its hard to believe they’re still in business. I’d give 0 stars if I could. I had an inactive account there in which I physically went to them to close it and a few months later they said I owed fees for inactivity, so I had to pay $100 in JUST FEES for an inactive account THAT I CLOSED. All they could say was “whoever closed your account failed to follow through with the closer and did not click submit. ” Coming from a person who worked in banking for years, Academy Bank is absolutely TERRIBLE, DO NOT give them your service, you will regret it as did I.
