Alterations By Jo Ann, Springfield MO

The owner is very rude and impatient. She literally huffed and grunted lol. I have been told by past tailors it’s best to buy bigger and get it fitted. She told me “you should’ve bought a shirt that fits” if I had why the heck would I need you Jo Ann!? She didn’t seem interested in this type of work but she took my money anyway. Her employee was kind and I felt bad for her having to deal with the owners attitude. I made the purchase and it still didn’t fit and I threw it away. Ended up at Mens Suit Mart for PROPER tailoring and alterations.

Not worth it to do business here. The owner is very rude. She wouldn't let me finish my sentence and ushered me out of the store. Very rude.

Let the waist out on some dress pants that wouldn’t button and now they fit like new. Great price and done quick

I had a bone disease which caused my leg to be shorter than the other and for many years she corrected my pants to make them look level. She is an excellent seamstress and will exceed your expectations

Would not recommend for wedding dresses!

Took a wedding dress in for alterations. Needed a lining of some sheer material for the back, sleeves taken up and in, and lots of hemming. Quoted me at over $400. Paid half down and was told to come back in a week. Came back and the hemming was fine (added some material to the sleeve that I provided) but was then told that they couldn’t do the back panel lining, instead Joann was going to sew some straps on and sew the lace shoulder to the strap, but we were on our own to figure out what to do about the entire sheet back that we wanted lined (asked if any money quoted would be taken off since that wasn’t done and was told no because she added straps (which the front section was going to already have fabric there based on the quote). Told to come back in another week. Came back, straps were in but the sleeve was still disconnected so there was an inch gap showing between the strap and the shoulder. Since she didn’t do the back panel we had to use an under garment to cover where the lining would have, this also made the sleeve lining no longer work so the lady there helped us remove it since it looked terrible. I told them I’d just have to make the rest of the alterations myself.

Joann came back as I was checking out and I mentioned the sleeve wasn’t done as she said it would so would that come out if the cost? She just shrugged and kind of ignored the question. I guess she would have sewn the sleeve the rest of the way but it would have taken another week according to her past requirement (I don’t have time for that) Paid the remaining balance and took the dress.

All that to say I’m not a fan of Joann. The other ladies there are friendly and try to work with you. Joann on the other hand always acted like she was put out by questions (even rolling her eyes at some). I thought the first day she just had a bad day, but with the second time having the same attitude?

We paid twice the amount of the actual dress thinking that would be one less thing to worry about but now I have to do the rest of the alterations to correct what she didn’t do.

This shop did a wonderful job on altering (moving) the cuffs on an expensive dress. The fabric was a bit delicate. The turn around time was very quick and the staff friendly and competent.

My wife is extremely hard to please. I am puzzled as to why she married me. But when it comes to getting her jeans altered, she was sure no one would be able to do an acceptable hem on her dress jeans. Alterations by Jo Ann not only did a wonderful job but were able to do it the same day. Unbelievable service and quality of work.
