Quaint bungalows fully renovated, very nice locale. Restaurant and ice cream parlor on site! What's not to like?

It was actually really fun we hiked many trails and ate at an awesome Mexican restaurant one town over. All around it was a great time

Our 6th stay at Arcadia Academy and Bungalows. Cannot express how special this place is to us! Catherine and her family have been amazing hosts every time we have stayed. Food at Thee Abbey Kitchen and ice cream at Porter's Candy Shoppe both onsite is a must while lodging at the bed and breakfast or bungalows. All within a few miles of Elephant Rocks, Taum Sauk Mountain, Black River, Johnson Shut Ins, and Pilot Knob State Historic Site. We love coming to Ironton/Arcadia Valley for a perfect getaway from the city!

My stay at AV Bungalows has been one of the best places that I’ve stayed in Southeastern Missouri. The Abby restaurant is excellent, full of history and surrounded by beautiful Arcadia Valley. It’s family owned and operated and when I say the owners are genuinely kind, friendly and sincere I absolutely am being honest. Catherine and the staff goes above and beyond to make everyone feel welcome and comfortable. My bungalow was clean, cozy and comfortable. If you’re going to be in the area for a week or even one day The Abbey is an excellent experience! The Potato Soup is a must and the Cinnamon Rolls too! Highly recommend staying here…… C. B.

Clean, fully equipped kitchen, quiet, good air system, and has a great outdoor shared area with benchseat swings. Loved the carriage ride in the early evening and the historic info of the area.
Great price for such a service too. We will want to come back and bring others. I thank you for offering such a wonderful place to stay.

I was very disappointed, my self I should of thought on how old these buildings are. We Could hear the kids with mom at bus stop through walls Friday morning. I will give it a good rate for it was clean. If your a larger than 200.lb person you will have to sit sideways on the toilet. I kinda did any way at 150lb. Very tight area next to cabinet of wich towel holder fell off in my hand. One blanket on the bed no extras and there were two of us, one sleeping on pull out love seat. I slept with a beach towel from there. The cost was 201.00 total - (35.00 added on at booking being a cost we had to pay for.house cleaning) and we could have stayed in town at a much better room for 100.00 with tax = 128.00 with two very comfortable beds. What can I say. I tried something new and like my go to place better I stay at and rate Shepards Mountain at 5 stars also having a wonderful continental breakfast.

Had a family Memorial and relatives from out of state rented here. We had an enjoyable time visiting on their porch. The bungalow was roomy, well furnished and clean.

The most unique place I have ever stayed. We got to stay in the suites and th bungalow. Highly recommend both. The suites are amazing! The bungalows are very nice and quaint. If you are in this area this is the place to stay! I can't stress enough how much we fell in love with this place.

Great location! Close to Elephant rocks and other great stat parks! Definitely planning our next trip back. Great place for a family reunion or group booking as there are a total of nine bungalows with a swimming pool, outdoor pavilion and firepit in the center.

Adorable Bungalow in an excellent location if you are looking for a place to relax after a long day of Hiking at Johnson Shut-ins, Elephant Rocks, or Mina Sauk Falls. I noticed several other hikes close by — Shepherd Mountain, Ozark Trail, & Russell Mountain, to name a few. The kitchen is well appointed with absolutely everything you need to make a family meal. There was a coffee service with regular, decaf, creamer, sugar, and sweeteners. Sparkling CLEAN throughout! The bathroom is fantastic, recently remodeled with all the extras (they even stocked with shampoo, conditioner, and soap). No shortage of paper towels, toilet paper, or tissues — thoughtful touches in every room. It’s the little things when you travel — plenty of bath towels, kitchen towels, and supplies for a family of 4 in this little bungalow. Pillows! Fluffy, fantastic, wonderful pillows and soft, comfy spare blankets. I didn’t expect the futons to be so comfortable — I was wrong. I fell asleep watching Netflix and it was as nice as the bed. I noticed charcoal in the cabinet for the grill near the pool. The pool wasn’t open yet, but I will say the outdoor entertainment area looked quite appealing. Plenty of parking with access to each bungalow. We stayed in number 6. These are older homes that have been remodeled so don’t expect the Ritz — do expect modernized comfort close to hiking, float trips, antique shopping, and local restaurants. Do expect a delightful outdoor experience — complete with screen door, front porch facing the street, and outdoor furnishings. For me, it’s 5-Star, we will return if we do a float trip at the Black River, and I highly recommend.

Really cool century old rock houses with nice modern touches inside. There is a nice outdoor firepit with swings all around it and pavilion. We enjoyed the pool and outdoor amenities with a bunch of our family that stayed in some of the other bungalows. There are like 8 or 9 houses here set-up french village style with great a common area in the middle so it works perfect for just a couple or for a group wanting to rent one or more houses. We also loved the close proximity to Elephant Rocks and Johnson's Shut-ins state parks.

Fire place was on. Porch light on in door lighting. Just like home.
Even had a pillow for our pup.
