Arthur Bryant's Barbeque reviews
17Lived up to the hype. Their original/president's sauce is vinegary and delicious. No table service.
This place is interesting. Everyone recommended this place for "The Best BBQ" but it was definitely NOT what I expected.
I went in for lunch around 330P, and there was no wait. When I got to the window I waited for the man to take my order. He was BRASH, "What do you want? ! "
A little caught off guard, I ordered the Triple B and a side of Onion Rings. After receiving my order, I look a photo then proceeded to eat. My Onion Rings were Old and STALE. I requested replacement Onion Rings which were eventually brought out to me.
I took a a road trip to KC and being a fan of Ted Lasso, I had to go to Arthur Bryant's. I got there around 4: 30 and it wasn't very busy and I was really happy about that, considering I had never been there, so I wasn't sure how or what to order. The staff was fun, friendly and informative. I got a full slab of baby back ribs with cole slaw and a Coke. As I mentioned the staff was very helpful, one of the ladies carried my tray to my table, but loaded me up with sour dill pickles which I loved and lots of napkins. I only ordered the cole slaw, but they brought me samples of 3 other sides, which were also wonderful. I only tried 2 of the 3 sauces, the original and the rich and spicy, I preferred the rich and spicy. I highly recommend you give Arthur Byant's a try if you are in KC. I also bought 4 bottles of BBQ sauce to give to family.
It's a different experience with meats served on Wonder Bread. The building carries a heavy scent of smoke from decades of business. The onion rings were clumped together and lacked the snap of a quality ring. The beans are thick and rich, definitely a category they do well in.
The brisket has a nice smoke ring but is on the dry side. It cries for its world famous sauce to save the day. Portions are big, the interior is worn, and the staff is rude. The sauce can be enjoyed at home, so skip the restaurant.
Ribs seem to be what they're known for, but they were out by 5: 15pm. Brisket was dry. Burnt ends were alright, but not worth $17 or the 30+ minute wait in line. Portion size was sufficient, but not as large as other reviews indicated. They were busy on a Saturday before a Royals game and felt unprepared for the rush, even though I expect it happens every weekend that the Royals are playing at home. Didn't care for their "world famous" sauces much either. I'm no BBQ expert, but I've definitely had much better, even in college cafeterias. Overall an underwhelming experience.
Definitely the worst bbq I've ever had.
The place is super dirty. The bathroom was awkward, small, and dirty.
When I was looking at the menu a guy from behind the counter wearing gold glasses with fake looking diamonds on them asked if it was my first time.
I said yes.
He then asked if I liked pulled pork and burnt ends. I said yes.
He put 2 pieces of bread down on a tray and added a pile of meat on each piece of bread. I thought he was being assertive and helpful and I appreciated it at first. We talked about the sides and he suggested the cheesy corn and coleslaw.
But then he asked if I was paying with cash or card. I told him I could do either.
He said, give me $20 and you can skip the cashier and go sit down. I thought he was kidding and I awkwardly laughed.
He repeated himself and I don't know why but I handed him $20 and he told the girl working the cashier that I was good.
I'm pretty sure he wasn't the owner and just stole money from them by what he did.
I felt like I was being scammed from a street vendor and felt bad but the other guy standing next to him laughed and the cashier didn't say anything about it. It was so strange.
I'm a certified Kansas City Barbecue Society judge and have managed restaurants for 15 years.
I did not finish the food on my plate and will never be back to this place again.
I wanted to love this place. The food is great, but because the environment was disgusting, I didn't really enjoy it. I don't understand why a place like this that brings people in just don't care about the place. It looked like they have enough stuff but there were flies flying all over the dining room. The ceiling is covered in so much dust that it's no longer white/ beige. The place is all in all gross.
Kansas City- original location on Brooklyn, DISAPPOINTING experience, the place was not packed. Cleanliness was lacking. The staff were loud and clearly didn’t want to be there, I watched a guy cutting the meat rub his nose and not even wipe off his gloved hands! Presentation of food was absolutely lacking. We had 3B sandwich, brisket, pulled pork, cheese corn (it was tasty), o-rings, potato salad. We threw out a good portion of our meals, meat was bland tasting (lots of fat in the brisket), we were not fans of the sauces, Sams Club has tastier potato salad, but the cheese corn was really good though. The history of this place is amazing, Jimmy and Rosalyn Carter, John McCain, Barack Obama, Danny Glover…. MANY politicians and celebrities have dined there! That’s pretty cool to think those smokers have served some giants. We’d heard of the competition for best KC BBQ, we tried both Arthur Bryant’s and Joe’s, for our money, our preference we’d go back to Joe’s 10 outta 10 times. The second star here was purely for the history of the place (we even remembered on MASH when Hawkeye had Arthur Bryant’s ribs shipped to the 4077th). This may have been the best BBQ at one time, but quality and staff have suffered significantly…
Food cold, tasted nasty, order not right. Drive hours for nasty food. It used to be good our kids were excited until we got here and it was cold and nasty. We won’t be back and we visit the area lot.
Oh My Goodness, When in KC, it’s a must…! The ribs are unbelievable, you don’t even need barbecue sauce on the ribs. I couldn’t get past the ribs, so I can’t give you an review on anything else.
I was really looking forward to some great BBQ at Arthur Bryant's BBQ having lived in KC for many years and returning for a visit. After the experience we had on Friday regarding the food quality, the non-existent service and the cleanliness of the restaurant, I will not be returning.
Stopped to experience Kansas City BBQ. Initially perception.staff pretty much ignored us. Took our order without ANY acknowledgment that we were there.infact, continued a side conversation as we told him what we wanted to order. Next station wasn't any better.like, "you want drinks? ". Then we didn't get them and had to ask again. Saving grace.the food was good and the lady working the dining room was exceptional. She made the entire experience.
I'm from out of town and had heard great things about this place and KC bbq. I was fine with the decor. Staff are pretty sassy and will call you out. First you better know what you want because you will definitely be pushed quickly through a line. I had the brisket sandwich. Very fatty with little to no flavor in my opinion. Hubby had same thing and liked his. I tried all 3 sauces and wasn't impressed. Sides were ok. I was prepared to pay since beef is high. However, I expected better since it was $50. Sorry, KC, seems like this place I'd trading on on their name. I would not go back.
Legendary! The place is worth the hype. Delicious ribs and brisket- this place has it all! I loved the beans and Cole slaw best from all the sides.
Arthur Bryant's Barbeque is an absolutely delicious place to eat at. All of the food is amazing and its probably the best barbecue I've ever had. I'll definitely be coming back again from more and introducing my family to the food here as well!
It was very busy the some of the staff seemed aggravated. BBQ was good but the frys and onion rings were soggy
Never would I ever here no ribs, no other my favorites, that just says evidently your cooking and folks love your food, this place is beyond awesome you gotta get their early
