The emergency department here needs work. If you are having a heart issue they will just transfer you to another hospital.

The phone operators are rude. They do not care what you or a loved one is going throught and they make it very clear that they do not.

Had to sit in the hall way with patients taking up rooms waiting to go to other hospitals! My time is not valuable! Always some mistake! Today travel nurse did not draw labs in right tube

Horrible!
After waiting 5 hours to be seen, you still may not be seen, especially if your black! After looking around it’s mighty strange the only people left waiting are black!
Please go to any other place but this one!

We were there for couple of stitches due to skin cut on the forehead. It took us 5 hr to get it done. We were placed in a room and left there, so we even didn’t have a chance to leave to look for help in some other place. Do not go there if you can get your things done somewhere else. Very bad experience.

My son came into the emergency room with chest pains and vomiting. Said symptoms were the same as 4 months earlier when he had a heart attack and 2 stints done at SLU. All they could do was blood test because they are not equipped for cardiac testing. I asked for him to be moved to Mercy, just a few miles away, and they said they wanted to keep him in the BJC system. MO Bap is also a couple of miles away which would have been fine. They said they were looking for a room and finally 30 hours later he was taken to Big Barnes by ambulance
where he was told he was stable and because it was a Friday night they couldn't do any testing on the week end. He has insurance but why should he be expected to pay for all this time and ambulance and spend the week end for a test to be done on Monday? I can't believe an emergency room at Barnes West Co is not equipted to handle a heart attack. You should tell people, don't bother coming here if you are having chest pains, save yourself time and money and go somewhere else. Very disappointed in Barnes. It looks like a state of the art hospital but don't be fooled, it only treats certain conditions, you have to figure out which ones for yourself.

Stayed over night and was told I had cellulitis and that it can be life threatening. They took my blood and told me it could take 48hrs to see if there’s bacteria in my blood and that I’d be called back in. It’s going on 72 hrs now and still no word. I called and told me I couldn’t get records over the phone and I’d have to wait til the doctor called me back. So let’s just hope it’s nothing serious

Went to ER due to an ongoing cardiac condition. After 23 hours in the ER was told the hospital does not do cardiac care. Transferred to Missouri Baptist Hospital. Now insurance is denying my ambulance ride. Should have just gone to MO Bap in the first place.

I had to take my mom to the emergency department last night, and I was so impressed with the care they had given my mom. From the time we walked in, until we left, every single person who took care of my mom, from techs to nurses, doctors, were exceptional. Damon, who my mom had see the most, was very attentive to her needs, and just a great caring person.
It was the “best” experience that we’ve had in any hospital we’ve been to, in a very long time.
Thank you for doing what you do. It’s such a demanding and most the time stressful job, and I praise you all for what you do.

I work there and I love doing what I do to serve the people in keeping the hospital clean and sanitized.

My son recently had surgery at the new Barnes Jewish West Hospital & stayed for 3 days & 2 nights. I must say the entire experience was surprisingly pleasant. Everyone from the staff, nurses, doctors, and physical therapists where incredibly professional top notch & lovely! The hospital is pristine & state of the art. The rooms are huge & even have IPads for the patient’s to order meals, watch TV or movies & access MyChart. If you have to select a hospital in the St. Louis area, I highly recommend!

My girlfriend had a great plastic surgery experience on her nose with Dr. Chi. Part of that experience was due to his nurse Jenny, who assisted during the surgery. Laurel said she was so caring and supportive throughout the procedure and afterward.

They are nice enough but the lady i seen today was not helpful and doesnt know how to speak to patients with mental disabilities. Last time i was at the e.r. All the nurses did was laugh at me because they thought i was making up the pain i was in. They even went as far as to laugh at a person in the room next to me who had a serious accident.

Had a colonoscopy on 4-22-22
Staff was great.
Wish I could say the same for the anesthesiologist (s). They were unprofessional.

Yesterday I had an MRI of my Liver done at the Radiology Department. I was very nervous about getting my MRI done because I am very claustrophobic. I tried a couple of weeks ago to do the closed MRI and was not able to so this was my last shot. I took an anxiety medication before I went but was still having issues being able to complete the open MRI. Roni was the tech that helped me and she was amazing. She was very attentive, understanding, and went above and beyond to make sure that I was comfortable and gave me the courage to get through it. If it wasn't for her I would not have been able to finish the test. Thank you again, Roni!

Saw Dr. Sockanathan and have been met with numerous problems. She ignored my throat problems as well as my prescription refills and now they are still trying to bill me for it while I have had to go see a specialist because of her ineptitude. Now because of the added fees of the messed up scripts I will be out even more money. Her office has taken over weeks to respond to messages through my chart online. I don’t know why you want to refuse to give me my life saving asthma medication. Stay away from her.

Jan 21,22. I understand the need for mask. Im okay with that.what im not okay with is forcing me to wear YOUR mask. My mother has had a few things done here. And no one has had issues with my cloth mask before.

I can not STAND the loops around the ears. That is why my 3 layer mask goes around my heaI? Mine is also a duck bill to make it easier on me. YOURS sit so tight over my nose that it hurts and so tight that when breathing it goes into my nose and mouth. Now the mask the mask is wet.so does it really help?

Besides your mask is soo light and too loose compared to mine.

Positive point.you have sit for large people.at least in preop so thank you for that part

In the main Waiting area.not so much.luckily there was still a bench seat

If I could give negative stars I would. Wasted 3 weeks of my life and I will be lucky to be back to somewhat normal in 3 months. Do not go here! Went in to er for a breathing treatment and 8 days later was released, thank god&within less than 12 hours of being discharged&even going back there bc I was super sick again-er said I was ok yet, knew I wasn’t and my fever had gone up, called Mercys dr exchange and was told there was no way my oxygen saturation could be 100 with what was going on. Took it with a home pulse o meter, I was at 85, had my neighbor try to make sure it wasn’t broken, she was at 99. Went to Mercy (where I usually go but thinking I was just originally having an asthma attack went here) and between lack of staffing, hours long wait for meds, and condescending drs dismissing my questions and concerns&lack of transparency for what was wrong- they screwed up, I could have died. I had asked if they were able to provide the right care since it seemed they were over their head and they insisted a transfer wasn’t necessary. I could go on and on. At a minimum the state needs to investigate the patient neglect and im confident that they will have tons of malpractice suits. After their er saying I was fine, within 2 hours, i was admitted to Mercy. They had to give me yet another transfusion in the er bc their icu was full. And what do you know, after I went to mercy- I couldn’t access my chart and my records changed. Mistakes happen but admit them&admit when you can’t provide the level of care for a patient. I was bleeding out after a procedure and told that was normal. Oh and they starve you. The video surveillance in rooms is an invasion of privacy other hospitals don’t participate in. They didn’t even draw labs properly. This is an urgent care not an er and should never keep critical patients! I was even told, despite there being no diagnostics suggesting this- it was likely I had a rare blood disorder&c died and cried thinking I was dying. I was admitted to Mercys ICU. They have no idea what they’re doing, or how to properly perform simple lab work and damn near killed me!

I had a scheduled surgery this week and my experience was first class from start to finish. Everyone from the front desk when I arrived, to the admitting staff in the Procedure department (Oliver), to the surgery prep staff (nurse Lori was fantastic, the anesthesiologists, Bill my operating room nurse) and of course, Dr. Figenshau who performed the surgery. I had arrived with a case of nerves and went into surgery feeling confident that I was in capable, professional, caring hands. Once I was taken to my room, I had two wonderful nurses, Tracy and Marie. Everyone was so friendly, kind, compassionate, reassuring, caring and professional in their care of me. I cannot adequately express my heartfelt appreciation and thanks for their exceptional care and demeanor.
