Big Whiskey's American Restaurant & Bar, Springfield MO

I’ve been a big fan Big Whiskey (downtown Springfield) since it opened. My office is just around the corner and honestly I used to eat lunch there 3 or 4 times a week, but something has happened at the downtown location. A lot of the old crew is gone and the new folks are nice but seem to need leadership. Even when they’re not busy you can wait 10 minutes to get someone to take your order. On a recent visit (Sept 21,2023) total wait time from seating to food arrival was 48 minutes and there were only about 5 tables with guests. When food arrived some food had obviously been under a heat lap for an extended period of time. Sadly, Big Whiskey has become our last choice downtown. It has been going downhill and there seems to be no rebound coming.

Great service, very friendly. Clean. Good atmosphere.
Food, well all we ordered was homemade chips because they looked delicious on everyone’s plate. Well, how wrong we were. They didn’t crisp, we chewed them! They were stale and horrible. Oh well. Know not to order them again.

Can get pretty cramped and lid during weekends, and usually a decently long wait time for food order. Despite this, their appetizers are classics, and the I have enjoyed every speciality drink made here. Great daily deals and outside patio spot as well

Sterling is a great bartender. Fun to chat with and makes sure your glass is full. I've become a regular here.

Our server, Devryn, was so sweet! She was very caring and super attentive with our table. She is awesome!

The server's were more interested in the friends and their phones than paying attention to their tables. Server left in the middle of my meal to take a walk in friend home. Had to ask for refills and condiments

Our burgers were cooked perfectly, not smashed juice less into cork-burgers like so many others. I would have no hesitation ordering a burger at the downtown location again.

Just had nachos but we were the only ones in there so that was cool. The nachos were pretty good and the staff was on top of everything.

Friendly staff and cold beer, but food was Meh! Good location and has that Cheers atmosphere! Stick to appetizers and drinks, though!

Me and my friends had a reservation for Sunday brunch yesterday and it was amazing! There was 15 of us and we got sat instantly and we love the bottomless bubbly and I got the ahi tuna and I loved it, my friend got the picture of the one below it, the salmon with the bourbon glaze and it was fantastic! Definitely will be back!

First time here, heard good things but so very disappointed. We were skimped on food, the service was poor. I ordered the ahi tuna and it looked like I got half of what the picture represented the dish to be. It was cold and overcooked (should be pan seared and rare, even the description specifies this), and I am almost certain I didn't even receive a full filet (it was cut up already so the only way to tell was to piece it back together). The server even commented that they skimped me on the sauce that came with it (the little cup was almost empty) and without me asking said that he would bring another one but then never did. My sister got a side of fries with her burger and when it came it looked like half the fries were missing. Service was slow, we had a reservation and they weren't ready for us and we had to wait until 15 minutes after said reservation, then we were stuck there for more than 2 hours because it was that slow. We were with a small group celebrating someone's birthday and even with the reservation we weren't seated all together but then still were charged an 18% group fee on top. First time here and won't be back.
