Blue Springs Dam, Lee's Summit MO

Was nice and relaxing. I took my dog walking here. He had a great time exploring. It was not at all crowded. Plenty of parking. We walked around a trail, down by the water where there were rocks and in some grassy fields. He had a great time!

Excellent area, good for a walk or picnic or some boating. The area could benefit from some better signs. I'd advise looking up a map before heading out.

This has become my haven of tranquility since last year.
Absolutely stunning in any type of weather.
Trail in shade or sun, good contemplation spot or for an early morning meditation/read.
Grate for jet skiing and small boats.
Romantic walks while the sun sets.

Things to be aware of:
Portable toilets only
Little kids should not be left unsupervised, not much fencing around these large areas where boats are launched
Dog poop on trails
Cars go past all the time over the bridge and sometimes, you have to endure folk popping wheelies or doing donuts with their fancy cars when the cop on duty leaves for a bit. Very rowdy and not quite peaceful.
Parking in 3 separate areas
Beware of cyclists on narrow roadways
Cliffs on the upper bank walkway opposite the dam do not have railings so be careful when walking there, will need torch for night time

Great spot for walking. Connects to the Welands in a big loop, and there's a trail that runs to the top of the rocks. It's quite an interesting area, hosting a lot of unique habitats and wildlife!
