Cuban Restaurant Boogaloo reviews
18I learned about this place from a Groupon deal. A group and I came here for dinner, and mentioned the Groupon deal is why we all were here. Our server told us that only one Groupon was allowed to be used per table……. That was very ridiculous! Don’t offer a coupon and say only one person can use it…. We were all mislead. We did not make a big deal about it, or asked speak to a manager. The checks were all split anyways, so it should I have mattered if we were at the same table are there separately. I will not be returning nor will my group.
Not quite what it used to be food wasn't very tasty. Only one server for the entire place made it slow and unbearable
So wonderful! Saturday was our second visit and we have decided that this is in our top 3 favorite St. Louis restaurants. We do not live close, but discovered this place for the first time a couple of months ago when we were looking for a place to eat before a show downtown. My husband and I try a new restaurant each time we have a show or event in the area. We had a great experience that first time, so we decided to return to sample more of the menu. Crab empanadas were out of this world.hummus was the most unique I have ever had. Our goal is to try everything on the menu. Thanks again!
Bartender was very attentive. We had a Saturday evening dinner reservation. When we arrived the restaurant was virtually empty so we had the pick of tables. Our server was pleasant. Food came out of the kitchen one meal at a time unfortunately so 3 of us were finished with our meal before the 4th meal was served. Soups came out last, and was lukewarm. I have eaten here before, but will most likely not return. Overall, our experience was a disappointment.
Great food, fun atmosphere, and very friendly staff. Highly recommend for a date night or fun night out with friends!
I have always wanted to love this place. Three of my favorite food styles are Cuban, Creole, and Caribbean. This place should be a match made in heaven.
It's really good, but.hmm, how to say it? It's close but just not quite there. I respect the upgraded, modernized variations on some classics, I really do.
I'll just say this. The most important ingredient in a gumbo is the roux. That's all.
I like their food a lot. I just don't love it as much as I want to.
Came here for some dinner and drinks
They have some cocktails on their paper menu, but they have a more expansive cocktail menu online. I wish they would (maybe they do?) publish the larger menu. The tiramisu martini was incredible.
We mainly had appetizers, the coconut rundown sauce was quite delicious though I personally don’t like wings.
Crab empanadas I must say, the black bean purée though good by itself, took away from the subtle flavor of the empanada.
And a quick note on decor, loved the vibe! The bar seats are whimsical
We came in a party of three and ordered some ribs, wings, and another app. The server didn't tell us there were no ribs. When she brought the two other apps she didn't say anything about the ribs. When we asked 10 minutes later she said they were out. Ok. Just say that when we order. Never got a water refill and she wasn't very attentive overall. Service is a part of eating at a restaurant and I get the staffing situation - but the service was disappointing. The food was very good (except the key lime pie - it tasted like a refrigerator and the raspberry drizzle tasted like chemicals).
Very interesting love the swing barstools but not brave enough to try. Food really yummy but a bit pricey.
I've been waiting years to come here and finally was able to dine in. I was disappointed, my first meal I had to have the waitress take it back, the mashed potatoes were cold, the portion was small, the beef tenderloin wasn't cooked how I asked. My second meal was just ok, it was hot I'll give it that but flavor wise I'm disappointed. The waitress was polite. I can say I tried it but I won't be back. If I would have read the room, I wouldn't have wasted my time and stayed.
The food was all really good, very very happy with the bloody Mary I had. I also love the swings at the bar. It is definitely a nice bar to grab a drink and a bite or to just go hangout.
Cannot speak to food or drink but I can speak to service and attention. We sat at the bar. It was a busy night, yes. But, we sat in the middle of the bar-not in some far flung corner amid 100 other diners. We waited and waited, no big deal. Again, busy. Bartenders passed through without acknowledging us. OK, fine, I see that one is making a cocktail. No big deal, it's busy. Ah, here comes another couple who have found chairs at the end of the bar. And, here comes a bartender.to drop some coasters down in front of them and ask them what they'd like to drink. As I already said, it's busy. But, you need to be scanning the whole bar (which is not so big as for this to be an unreasonable ask) and take the orders of patrons who have already been there 10 minutes, not those who just bellied up. And, the bartender did scan a quick look at us before turning back to the others. Sorry, but, even a quick "Hi, I'll be with you in a sec! " would have gone a long, long way. We walked over to The Post, where it was equally as busy and the server was busy but attentive and genuinely kind.
I went a week ago and its a nice location and good atmosphere, but for the food purpose not enough choices on the menu and it took to long to get our food after awhile our waiter took long to wait on us and kept messing up our orders and we only had 6 top. When the food came out it was not hot had to get money back and just go somewhere else to get food. Wont happen again unless i want a drink from there. Me or my family
I love the tapas here! Particularly the cigarro cubanos. They are truthfully one of my favorite bites in Maplewood. The jambalaya, roasted jerk chicken, and BBQ shrimp are also all very good! I’ve only been let town by the tripletta sandwich.
They host a great trivia night on Wednesday’s. Free to play and you just win a gift card to the restaurant so low stakes. We love going and getting a few mojitos!
Atmosphere: This place has colorful Mardi Gras decor, but I think a little more lighting and space between tables could've improved the atmosphere for me.
Service: Even though lunchtime was pretty busy and they were understaffed, our service was still decent.
Food/drink: I ordered the Cuban sandwich which could've been great if the pork was more tender and seasoned. The mashed potatoes were good, but could have used gravy. My friend's gumbo was served cold. The French fries and sangria were really good though!
Came here for the first time with old friends, what a great atmosphere! We were served well, and the food was absolutely delicious. It really added to the memories made with the best besties ever.
Fun place! Food was excellent and the service was outstanding. Mike was serving a lot of tables and still gave attention to all! Wonderful experience.
Food is always good quality and fresh. Flavorful and as promised per menu. The staff is exceptionally friendly. Love the eccentric atmosphere. Fun place to eat or socialize.
