Boone Hospital Center, Columbia MO

My husband had COVID, was admitted May 29,2021, was told that the Cares Act would take care of it, insurance paid there part and now we are getting billed over 2,000.00. In 6 months it will be 3 years. Will take our business to University!

I have been working to resolve billing issues with Boone's billing department going on three months with no help. I reach out to them at least weekly and am always told someone has to review and call me back but I don't hear back or see resolution on my account. I still get an incorrect bill each month and have no hope it will be fixed so am at a loss of where to go or who can actually help.

This review does not reflect on the doctors or services I've received - this is exclusively to share the poor customer service I've received from the billing department.

The nurse I had screamed an through objects in the room at me and told me to leave very low level

Went in last night and everyone was very nice and helpful! Doctor maple in the ER is a great doctor won’t go anywhere else if I can help it!

Saw Dr. Donald Lee Maples in the ED and I am thoroughly disappointed in the care I was provided or lack there of. I am guessing better care would have been given had I been his race. But perhaps he’s just as bad with everyone's. His assessment was so poor I left more confused and sick leaving than when I went in. The discharge information he provided was also so lackadaisical. I regret wasting my time and hurt by his poor service. 0 stars and wouldn’t recommend.

I had a bike accident last weekend and broke my pelvis and was in your hospital. Everyone was so wonderful. I felt very comfortable that I was in good hands for the entire stay. The ER staff were so kind and took care of my pain so quickly and the staff on the floor were kind and responsive. The doctors were kind and explained my injury and care so that I understood what to expect. The physical therapists were absolutely awesome and really gave me hope that I would be ok. Names that I remember of some of the outstanding staff are John, PT, Carly, PT and Amanda, one of my nurses, who even told me to call after I went home if I had questions. I am quite thankful for Boone Hospital Center!

I was rushed to the ER from my pain specialists' office with possible sepsis. Er staff was great. My admitting nurse (Christy, a travel nurse) was amazing. Day 2 in the step-down unit, I needed to use the bathroom as was DENIED! The shorter, dark-haired nurse I had was extremely rude! Told me " we don't do that on this floor! " You don't allow people to go to the bathroom? Then they had an older even ruder nurse come in and yell at me some more! I told them either they were getting me out of the bed or I was doing it myself! Then I was told, "PT has to evaluate you first! " Well, when you have to go.you have to go! I FINALLY was "allowed" to go use the toilet. (5 people grabbing at me!) They left me alone on the toilet, and I was so upset and felt like my basic human rights were so disrespected! I had no issues walking, I got up and walked myself back to bed! The older, mean long-haired strawberry blonde nurse with glasses came back in and was so rough helping me get my legs back in bed. I said, "I TOLD you, I could do it! All I want is to be treated like a human being! " Her response was a snippy "YEAH. YOU SURE SHOWED US! " I was to the point I was wanting to check out AMA, BUT I'm a NURSE and knew I needed to be there due to all the issues I was having. I have been a nurse for 22 YEARS! I HAVE. NEVER treated anyone like that! I was right across from the nurse's station and could hear them making rude comments and talking about me! VERY unprofessional staff! Then I was transferred to 6 South, I believe, OUTSTANDING staff! But I'm telling you.step down the unit was awful! I want to talk to someone, because someone needs to know what the staff is doing! Oh.and TOTAL lack of communication. My SpO2 kept reading my oxygen levels, dropped horrible at night, or whenever i slept. They kept saying, " You need tested for sleep apnea. " I TOLD them. I have sleep apnea MULTIPLE times! They keep telling me they would have RT come with a CPAP.never did until the night before I was discharged! I asked for a fan, and I was told (by yhe step down nurse). " we don't have any! Christy (travel nurse) called CS and got me one! It's so frustrating!

Boone hospital has done it again! I just had my baby there this weekend, and had a great experience! Staff were very supportive, attentive, and friendly! The food was very good, and lots of options for inpatients. All in all, if I have more babies.they will definitely be a Boone Baby! Thank you Boone Hospital for being a great resource, even for those who live outside of Columbia! 10/10

KRISTY the ER Nurse was the rudest most unprofessional Nurse that I have encountered in my life.

Went by ambulance to the emergency room for extreme abdomen pain. I could barley talk or breath when I first get there they ask me basic questions and I tell them it hurts to talk it hurts to take a breath after that they left. I waited in excruciating pain for 2 hours for a dr to come in for 5 minutes and finally give me medicine to combat the pain. Which took them an additional amount of time to bring me, they did a CT scan and advised I had an abscess in my abdomen from a gallbladder removal I had at the university prior and that I was to be transported to the university in the morning. The nurses didn’t seem to care or be concerned about my pain. In the morning I was advised it was taking too long for the university to get me a bed and that they set an appointment with my surgeon at Columbia surgical associates and I was to go there. I told drs and nurses I didn’t think it was a good idea for me to be discharged because I could barley breath, talk or move without hurting very badley and at this point I was on the hospital phone with my sister who was also saying “ don’t leave” the nurse at the time then takes the phone out my hands, hangs up on my sister puts me in a wheel chair and wheels me out to the emergency waiting room stating I need to go so I can make it to the appointment at Columbia surgical associates. I end up going there and my surgeon ended up calling another ambulance to take me to the university of Missouri because I was in so much pain I couldn’t even physically sit in the waiting room chairs and ended up on the floor of the office. I went to university got in immediately and was treated turned out my liver was extremely inflamed, I had a very high heart rate, liver enzymes threw the roof and had a high bilirubin level and was turning yellow from jaundice. I didn’t ever think in a case of an emergency an emergency room would put you out and turn you away. If I could leave a negative 10 I would truly horrible service I will never be back I don’t care what’s going on I’ll take my chances riding all the way across town before I ever come to Boone

Absolutely ridiculous place to go for health care rude people long wait times and Absolutely no care for ppl. I went to er and they put me in room away from people and completely forgot about me and where I was. My husband went out after 2 hours and asked when we would be going back to a room and they had discharged me because they didn't see me in waiting room. Well duh you morons u stuck me in a conference room and left me running a 104.00 temp. Worst hospital ever

From the time we arrived, to the triage nurses ER doctors and all the staff are very nice. I was admitted in a timely manner, and the nurses on the cardiac floor were very pleasant and cared about me. Keep up the good work.

Everyone was very accommodating and answered all our questions and got us what we needed excellent care

Labor and Delivery were amazing! Delivered via C-Section everyone was so nice and very helpful. Wonderful staff! Dr. Smith from women’s health associates delivered my baby and she was great also super sweet!

I was at Boone Hospital today and I got checked in. They seemed nice and as soon as I seen a patient asking for help, begging for help breathing almost his last breath’s. They did nothing but sit there and watched him yell and scream for help one of the nurses said “I’m not a doctor so I can’t help you” multiple times. No one came to help him. He was screaming, and it was very much unprofessional.

Learn from my mistake and please do not go to this hospital especially if you have kids they told me they can seen him but I’d be better off somewhere else. They told me my son was not a top priority.

My experience there over 7 years ago was fantastic when I had my daughter but now that I'm trying to reach records, birthing records, medical records nobody's up there the entire day kind of need the paperwork before I can get custody paperwork going so there's a little time crunch there but apparently leaving multiple messages and trying to call no cooperation there. And no one can go up there so I don't know why that is. I also tried calling a different number when they responded to this review, still just leave a message. I'm sure we signed this for that we need we just need a copy, do I need to come in there and get it?
