I wish I could leave fewer stars. I have not even eaten here, and the restaurant itself may be fantastic. But I wholly discourage encountering the hosting staff in any capacity if you like to speak with someone who knows what it’s like to be courteous. I was condescendingly dismissed for trying to make a last minute reservation (with no expectation of success, only a last ditch hope). I was told I should have thought, like the rest of the people who had made reservations prior, to think ahead. While that’s not untrue, last minute reservations happen all the time and not everyone can ALWAYS plan ahead. To conclude this ”conversation, ” I said, “thank you, ” and the hostess then hung up on me. I was once a hostess and server at a fine dining establishment in Kansas City and had I ever spoken to clientele so dismissively and patronizingly, I would have been dealt with severely. If I can someday make it through that door without speaking to the hosting staff, I may try to eat here, but this encounter makes that very unlikely.

Used to be a really nice place. I went a couple of days ago. Worst service ever. Waited over an hour for food, was completely ignored by the bald white guy with the terrible attitude that works at the bar openly complaining about not being able to see his child/children. I was brought a drink in a dirty glass with lipstick on it. Food was bought out over an hour after I waited 30 minutes to order after flagging another guy that worked there down. No silverware brought with it. Having to follow up about everything was exhausting for them to respond with a bad attitude or not at all. Another employee said they had run out of food and employees and would have to shut the restaurant down early. Worst experience ever. Nothing close to what they use to be. Try somewhere else.

Brio, at the Kansas City Plaza during the Christmas holidays was delightful! Strolling along the streets seeing the Plaza lights, we worked up a great appetite for the wonderful Italian cuisine we enjoyed there. Service was great! They were out of steak on a weeknight, though. Oh well! Next time! We hope our review gives you an idea of what it is like to dine at Kansas City’s Plaza!

We had reservations the week before Christmas and got seated within 5 minutes of arriving. Our waitress was new but still made it look easy. Our food was delicious and we enjoyed the atmosphere.

3: 45 sitting on a Saturday. The heavy velour curtains were ripped. Table not set, cold. The fireplace couldn’t be turned on. Food mediocre. Sort but not impressed. Our server was great.
Will not be back.

This place is always great to go. Food is delicious! They have great deals, and perfect location. I love their upstairs balcony. Five stars deserved!

I ordered pick up last night. My total for two meals came to a little over $50. No big deal. But my meal literally had six tortellini in it. I could count them. Not even half full. And my boyfriends was about a half full with 4 pieces of shrimp/lobster in it. His alone is a $30 meal and that’s what they wanted to give us. On top of that my meal had no pancetta in it like it says on the menu. If I’m going to pay full price I want the full portion, I think that’s fair. But that isn’t the case here. I tried contacting a manager there and got blown off and ignored. I wanted to try to rectify if before coming here and to their corporate complaints, but it doesn’t seem it was important enough. Simply, they ripped me off. So be warned; take out, grub hub, door dash, etc. I wouldn’t order from here.

Poor service and average food.
Waited over one hour from ordering to get our food. Half of the table finished food before the others get their food. Didn’t bring silverware until appetizers arrived. Didn’t bring plates even then until asked. Didn’t bring the bread and butter until asked. So essentially our server kept forgetting to provide the very basic things they are supposed to do without asking. Didn’t check on us to see if we need anything after food arrived. When asked why food is late there was no explanation. We’re told I’m sure kitchen is working on it. Didn’t even checked to make sure maybe something went wrong and should be followed up earlier. So overall poor experience mainly with service but also food is just barely above average. Atmosphere is good.

If you went to Brios HAPPY HOUR anytime before 2019. Please don't return thinking you will have a fantastic, satisfying time with guaranteed great drinks from bartender. Drinks HORRIBLE. What the heck is White Blend for wine? Yikes! Bottom shelf Pinot would have worked just fine. Happy Hour Food choices, extremely limited.
We ate from main menu. Upstairs Bar is closed. I think the Bottom should be CLOSED too!

My husband and I were in town for Thanksgiving and our anniversary. On Friday we enjoyed a wonderful afternoon of shopping at the plaza. Around 4: 30 we went into your restaurant for a glass of wine at the bar with the intention to move into the restaurant for dinner later. There were 2 bartenders working and very few patrons, yet the service was horrible. Both bartenders saw us sit down at the bar yet neither acknowledged us, finally after about 5 minutes 1 gave us 2 glasses of water and walked away, it was over 10 more minutes before they asked what we wanted. They were both too busy doing nothing, having personal conversation is about all. The dirty glasses continued to accumulate, each and everyone was placed on the edge of the bar in front of all the customers. Not only is that rude and unpleasant but totally disrespectful to your paying customers. People from the couple tables by the windows had to come up to the bar to request an additional drink. Another employee came into the bar and spent about 15 minutes talking to a couple of his friends, thus creating an even less attentive bar staff.
The restaurant appeared to be a nice atmosphere, we never saw a menu. As I would hope you can imagine, we left after our glass of wine and didn’t stay for dinner. After I took several pictures of the condition of the bar area and the uninterested bartenders, a few minutes later one of them finally asked if we wanted another glass of wine. We declined. This was a very disappointing experience. Had there been a crowd and the guys were actually working we would have understood slow serve, that was not the case.

So disappointed! Our daughter had a performance downtown so we wanted to go somewhere nice. Mariah was our server and she was lovely and attentive but the food was terrible. My dad and I got the lasagna and it had a very odd taste, the lettuce in the Caesar salad was wilted, and the chicken in the chicken Alfredo was very over cooked. Won't be going back.

Very overpriced food for the quality you get and the staff could not have been lazier if you like spending a lot of money for low quality food and slow slow slow service then by all means go to Brio Italian Grill

Good food. Bad service! Our dirty dishes sat on our table throughout our time there. One of our party had gotten a bowl of soup before we had ordered anything else. When we left, that dirty, empty bowl was still on the table, along with all of our other dishes and glasses. We also ordered after dinner coffee and finally got tired of waiting on it (over 15 minutes) and left. I used to really like this place, and our first waitress (Mary) seemed very sharp. She got pulled away and her replacement was terrible! Need to step it up.

This was one of my favorite places until I ordered take out…order took forever, was incomplete, and the staff were unpleasant. I hate this because I always enjoyed eating here but I will not go back. Go and decide for yourself, I hope your experience is better.

Let’s start of saying I’m not a fan of pay for location not the food places…. So I typically avoid these places, or am easily disappointed because the food to price discrepancy exists. I will start off by saying right off that the grilled salmon Fresca was on point. Cooked well and I really dug the sweet potato. It added an unexpected texture. So that was good and of our table, I think the artichoke dip and bruschetta were the most popular at our office party. I was not impressed with the service off hours. They mucked our reservation size and then the server actually debated with our manager (who made the reservation) and said we couldn’t move …. When WE WERE THE ONLY TABLE IN THE RESTAURANT. That was odd. The server also went a bit Mia for a significant period of time. So…. That being said I’m not one to judge a restaurant on a particular server so…. The salmon was nice. Was it the BEST 26 dollar salmon I’ve had in KC…. No. It’s probably 3 or 4th. But I’m not going to dog it. The table enjoyed the lasagna and salads.

Where do I begin… was waited on by the bartender at a high top table nearby. Very unprofessional when taking our orders. After waiting almost 45 minutes for our salads with almost no customers in the restaurant he finally came out with one and told us that they were out of romaine for the other. Service just took long in general
