Captain D's reviews
13This place is one big joke. I ordered the deluxe seafood platter and I couldn't eat it. It's was too greasy. The crab cakes were reheated in the fryer and covered in oil. The fries, fish and shrimp was so cold. And the coleslaw had a hair in it. I immediately got up and threw it away. There were nothing but teenagers working and they were on there phones. It took me just 5 mins to get a refill. Also there was no manager on duty. I will not eat there again. This is my second bad experience.
Candace was exceptional!
I haven't eaten there YET but I ran into Candace & asked her all my questions; to which she answered them all & even walked me through the menu online for my specific dietary needs.
I WILL be eating there soon!
Thanks again, Candace!

This is a good fast food fish and seafood place. The staff is friendly and helpful. The restaurant is very clean. The food is served promptly and hot. And it tastes good for a fast food fish and seafood. I qualify that a little as there are a couple other restaurants in West Plains that do fish extremely well. And that is not to be critical of the fish here. It's a nice place to eat and I have never been disappointed.
The clam, fish, okra all had a bad, grease taste that stayed with me all the way home until i brushed my teeth. The lobster bites were basically bread with maybe the tiniest fleck of lobster inside. We couldn't taste any lobster, at all. The shrimp and green beans were okay. Total waste of money. It just wasn't satisfying. The employees did their job. Then to top it off, Christian music was played the entire time and it was a depressing and annoying. I would have simply ordered to go had I known I'd have to listen to religious music the entire time. I'm not ever going back to this Captain Ds. This Captain Ds is never consistent.
We've been going here for almost 20 years, I always order the same, tonight I didn't get my order the way it should have come, something was missing, they didn't take it my order right and got nasty with me when I ask about missing items, so the owner said he would fix it, but it was to late. This could have been avoided if they or us had read the order back to me.
I always like Capt D's but usually I like them for their food and friendly crew.
I usually don't think of The Captain as a dinner and show but thats what I got when I stopped by the Captain D's in West Plains Missouri this week.
Although admittedly it did leave a burning sensation in my nose and throat, with my eyes burning, so I couldn't hardly see my food or taste it very well.
I guess I should give a few more details lol, it was probably near closing time and the crew members were busy taking orders, making orders or cleaning the Restaurant, as one of the young ladies was moping the area adjacent to the lobby the young lady hit the fire extinguisher by accident with the mop handle which caused the extinguisher to fall and essentially explode causing a cloud of dust to fill the room, as if a Harry Potter character just entered or exited.
Either way it was good for a laugh.
Absolutely love this place. Great food, nice atmosphere and the workers are very helpful. You gotta try the deluxe seafood sampler and the lobster rolls. Stuffed crab is my favorite from here.
This was my first time at Captain D's, I got an assortment meat, fish, shrimp, stuffed crabs, fried okra, and Cole slaw, and drink, the food was fantastic, the people there were very helpful and friendly.
The food is ALWAYS hot, fresh and so good! The employees are also friendly and helpful. This is every time we go and we eat here quite often!
2-piece Catfish dinner doesn't come with a drink, I didn't realize that until I looked at my receipt at my table. Hmm. A medium soda is 1/3 the price of the food. The meal was good and worth the price. The soda was the same as you would get at any fast food restaurant, but cost more. Not worth the price.
Just a thought.
After happily visiting WP Captain D's for the last 33 years, unfortunately I think we won't be coming back. The constant inconsistency with decent employees and service is really disheartening. The main woman at the front counter charged me wrong 3 times in a row, got our drinks wrong, and when I questioned the brand new rule of only allowing 1 free child's meal with 1 adult entrée I was treated like I was nuts for even asking. Now because of this brand new rule, that wasn't online or even spoken of until I noticed a sign that was covered, my family won't be able to afford to continue coming back. Not only that, now the optional drink is no longer optional and I'm required to pay $1.69 for a drink that I don't allow my kids to have. I miss the old Captain D's. We were treated like family, served with kindness, and any mistakes (which used to be rare) were immediately corrected. Customer service and dedication has slipped and it really hurts my heart to have to say it.
Constipated? This place is the answer to get clear of any intestinal issues. I’m not a doctor, therefore I can’t offer an official diagnosis, nor can I guarantee this as a cure. However, my personal experience is that you might need to head straight home after eating.
Left a late ballgame starving so we hit the town to find something to eat at 9pm in West Plains. Google said Captain D's was open until 10, so we decided to go there. I swung through the drive thru and they politely took my order. When I got to the window it was obvious that they were doing the closing routine. I asked the lovely girl if they closed at 10. She politely stated that no, they closed at 9pm. It was 9: 05 and I felt terrible. She was insistent that it was no big deal. Our food came and had all condiments and the food was fresh and delicious! Thank you so much for the nice experience! It was refreshing to see a young staff member being so delightful even after closing hours.
