I talked with the expert and she said she would like to look for a cat for me and call me back. 2 weeks ago. I made out and submitted the application 2 weeks ago. I have nothing good to say, so I will close.

When I say this place actually wants to find animals a home they actually do. They root for the animals. They set up the animals for success in a home! We have had our sweet Leo about a week and couldn't have had asked for a better fit for our family. Thank you

I went to adopt my dog from this shelter. They told me my dog was perfectly healthy and very mellow. I told them about my needs in regards to my disabilities. They lied. After I got home and finally could download the medical documents, the dog was on Gabapentin and Tramadol for anxiety (listed to be on as long as was in the shelter). No prescriptions were given at time of adoption. Dog has BAD separation anxiety. I left him alone for a few hours for my doctor's apartment. He peed and pooped all over my bed (ruining it), ruined my couch, ate most of my vacuum cleaner and my pillows. When I came home I could hear him howling and screeching. I've tried training, crating and using a bark collar. Even when I'm home and in the same room he will randomly destroy things when I leave the room long enough to go to the restroom. As per the adoption contract, the shelter refuses to take the dog back. A paralegal called on my behalf and Ashley played dumb (sort of) saying she didn't know the dog but knew he did well crated and left alone, but that it was "the adopter's" fault that the dog is acting like he is. They then told the paralegal that it's my responsibility to find a new home for the dog. This shelter is a bunch of liars, do not trust them. I will never adopt from a shelter ever again!

DONT ADOPT FROM HERE. My husband and I adopted a cat from here and we were told that she was completely healthy, and were even given her past vet records to “prove it”. When we took her to the vet we were told she had gingivitis and that she would need to have multiple teeth removed. We payed over $500 for that surgery and both us and the vet clinic emailed Care stl to be reimbursed for the vet bill and they completely ignored us. Now months later, she’s at risk of losing all of her teeth and we will have to spend 1000+ on that surgery and aftercare.not to mention she’s been in so much pain this entire time all because they failed to disclose that information to us when we adopted her.

I cannot fairly judge CARE STL. I came upon them at an unfortunate time. Major remodeling, understaffed volunteers (HINT! HINT! To anyone out there who's got the time to lend a hand), resulting in an overpowering stench of urine. The little cat I was trying to return for a neighbor was terrified &, therefore, CARE STL could not accept him. (DON'T WORRY! PEPPAE Got A VERY Happy Ending.) Everything says these are very good people who need about thirty more dependable volunteers!

I recently decided I wanted to be a foster and I chose CARE STL to foster for. They set me up with someone who was going out of town so I was going to temporarily foster that puppy until she got back at the end of the week. She and I met up at the adoption center. She was telling me that the puppy has a really deep rough cough that she was concerned about and that she had talked to multiple people who brushed it off essentially and said since he doesn’t have discharge they wouldn’t do anything. I decided not to foster that puppy as I have a German shepherd at home and I didn’t want to risk. I was looking at their wall of fur babies to choose being as I expressly told them that I didn’t want over 30 lbs. I am not a confrontational person nor do I like to say no so when they picked Vincent I was reluctant but didn’t show it and agreed to it. I was under the assumption, given his age, that he had all shots and had been checked out for everything before they would allow a dog to be fostered and put other pets at risk. Anyway we brought him home when out of nowhere we get a call saying he has Girardia and we need to pick up his meds which did annoy me a bit bc again for as long as they claimed he was there why hasn’t this been handled or at least begun to be handled but we agreed we’d pick up his meds. In the meantime he had been displaying some concerning behaviors but we were trying to make it work. However as my fiancé was walking out the door Vincent made the attempt to attack my German shepherd with my kids standing right there. At that moment we decided we weren’t the right fit and called to let them know he had become aggressive with my dog while my kids were close and that we were bringing him back. The gentleman told me they would not take him back and it was my responsibility to find him a new foster. They full expected me to keep a dog in my house that was a risk to my children and German shepherd. I couldn’t believe it I became a foster in the event that something like this happened we wouldn’t have to struggle while being fair to both animals. In the end it worked out and we ended up fostering and then adopting a puppy from Partners for Pets. He fits in amazingly and they listened to what I wanted and made sure to place the best puppers that would work with us. I would not recommend CARE STL if you want an organization that won’t do this to you partners for pets is an amazing extremely caring and helpful place to go.

This little pup used to be a bitting machine until i bite him back and now he follows me everywhere. He still gets a little mouthy with me but he knows who the alpha is…

Took some time for her to get comfortable but she is. You called her Mika, we call her Charlie - short for Charlotte.

The workers and volunteers here seem to really care about these pets! I got a very sweet cat there today after visiting yesterday, he was just taken there and they were very quick to give him his shots and get him neutered so he could be taken home! Seems like some of the pets fees are cut a lot too so i highly recommend it (and donating if you can)!

Everyone that came to help me were genuinely caring you could tell that they really loved what they do for all of the animals they care for! I know that Bitties will be very loved by everyone that comes in contact with him! I was not the least bit uncomfortable leaving him in their care! I hated to turn him over but my cats Indica and Sativa were NOT happy at ALL that I brought a baby kitten home that was dumped by someone else. It’s so sad how some humans can be so heartless us to just dump a baby, kittens or puppies when they’re not even weaned.

The wonderful team at CARE STL is dedicated to the animals they serve as well as potential adopters.

I enjoy the personal approach they have and their dedication to serving the people and pets (strays) in the St Louis area.

I adopted a dog. He was a German Shepard puppy. Didn’t give me any paperwork, just a bag of food, a collar, and leash. They gave him to me with parvo and didn’t tell me and I watched him die and take his last breath 3 days after I adopted him. Very traumatizing experience for me. I’m glad he had a home for the 3 days before he passed, with someone who actually cared about him and didn’t have him locked up in a little cage for most of the day. I’m never going back here again, disgraceful.

Called/texted/Facebook every day regarding a dog. My application was approved with 24 hrs but by the time a human responded, she was adopted by someone else. Pet was in foster care so I couldn't go to the shelter and meet her. Horrible communication.
